Volume 3 Chapter 102 The Story Of The Vampire Princess I
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The next morning, after fully cleaning off last night’s dirt, Kian had no choice but to wear the entire ‘Silver Ice’ set.
’Silver Ice’ is armor designed for vampire magicians──heavy gear for a category.
Plus, when you move, the metal clinks loudly──pretty noticeable.
Just by wearing it, he could freeze anything he touched, or turn stolen heat into hot wind to blow at enemies──magic attacks even a non-mage like Kian can wield easily.
But that makes it terrible for sneaking or scouting──completely the wrong gear for that.
The armor’s shiny silver look makes it obvious he’s a famous knight from the start. Since Kian’s skin tone and looks clearly show he’s Azraelian, combined with the ‘Silver Ice’ armor, someone could easily figure out: he’s the ‘Knight of Crescent Moon’ Kian of Izerland.
But right now, the only decent gear Kian had was this.
”Kian, is it okay to come in?”
As he checked his armor, the small hut’s door was knocked softly.
He was changing inside the hut that was loaned to him for sleeping and living.
”Come on in.”
”Excuse me.”
The latch was opened, and Sarah, dressed casually like a scout, stepped in.
Small beams of faint sunlight slipped through the cracks between the planks, but the moment Sarah opened the door, the room burst into bright light.
The sounds of chickens, pigs, dogs, and other farm animals echoing through the village grew even louder.
After closing the door, Sarah approached Kian.
She held a big wooden board in her right hand──on it was a plate of baked apple and bread porridge, probably bought at the tavern, along with some dried fish.
”Here’s breakfast.”
Sarah’s face was faintly red as she offered it.
She seemed unable to look directly at Kian, mostly glancing slightly downward, occasionally sneaking quick looks up at him.
”Sorry, I owe you one.”
”Nah. Can you sit?”
”Yeah, I can. This armor’s easier to move in than it looks.”
”I see.”
Kian took the plate with food and lowered himself onto a nearly unused straw bed.
Sarah sat down right beside him.
Then she started fidgeting, looking like she wanted to say something but couldn’t find the words.
Sarah’s spot was under a gap in the roof letting in sunlight.
Her muddy, dirty body from yesterday had cleaned up completely, her hair was silky, and her face looked oddly shiny──like she’d had all-night sex.
Maybe it’s true──girls look even cuter after sex.
It kinda makes her more femi9──so much it’s almost bad for my pants.
”Are you really gonna go dressed like that?”
”Yep.”
”Wouldn’t it be better to wear something less obvious?”
”The area around the base is dangerous. If we get attacked by Bloodsucking Kind, we need proper gear.”
Honestly, after he finished the scouting at the camp, he was planning to head for the northern fortress that ‘glasses’ mentioned.
Since they might have to fight, Silver Ice was a must-have.
At first, he thought he’d store Silver Ice inside Night Wraith, but the heavy armor couldn’t fit in Wraith.
Leaving it in this village Risked losing Silver Ice if something happened──so he had to wear it, too.
He wished he had Nightshade──something that works perfectly in moments like this.
It looked like a long, black coat.
Great for exploring, scouting, or even formal occasions.
Since Oswald tore it apart, he’s been searching for a similar armor, but never found one.
”I’m worried.”
”We decided I’d scout, didn’t we? It’s too late now.”
”But, you’re not even sleeping.”
”No problem. I just absorbed your magic power──I’m in perfect shape. No tiredness, no sleepiness.”
”Really?”
Sarah looked into Kian’s eyes and nodded, saying, “Yeah, your eyes do look sharp.”
”Reconnaissance won’t be easy. The ‘Storm Herd’ is bigger than any mercenary group in the Western World. Their base will probably be pretty large.”
”If night is coming, you better head back for now.”
”It’s easier to hide in the dark, after all.”
”You do remember what you just said, right? Bloodsucking Kind come out at night. And in the darkness, monsters are way better at sneaking! If you get your neck sliced from behind while sketching the map, I’d never forgive you.”
”Got it. I’ll try to get back before sunset.”
”Please, do that.”
Sarah fell silent after saying that.
Once the chatting was over, Kian started eating the rice porridge on the plate.
Next was dried fish, then roasted apple.
It took about 5 minutes to reach the roasted apple, and probably more to finish just that.
During that time, Sarah kept staring intently at Kian’s eating.
Super serious, even hesitating to blink, she watched every part──mouth and fingertips, shoulders and back, even her hair──almost like she wasn’t missing a single movement.
”Is it really that funny, watching me eat?”
”Ah… did I, did I make you curious?”
”I tried not to care, but… well.”
”Sorry about that.”
Sarah looked away and lowered her gaze.
She was staring at the back of her hand resting on her knee, and her face was slightly red.
Her thin lips curved into a faint, happy smile.
Thinking she might be coming down with a cold, he used his vampire hearing to check her heartbeat, but everything seemed normal.
It was a calm, relaxed rhythm, nothing seemed wrong.
Sarah turned her eyes back to him, let out a small “Ah,” and took out her cloth.
”There’s roasted apple crumbs on your cheek.”
”Huh? Oh…”
”Don’t move. Here, all clean now.”
”Thanks.”
”No, it’s fine.”
Her bright, smiling face was dazzling.
Sarah took the plate from Kian and placed it on her own lap.
”Hey, Sarah. About last night…”
”Uh, yeah… what is it?”
”I’m not gonna deny that I told you I like you. And it’s not like I said it just to spice up the moment. I meant every word.”
”But you have Ms. Christy.”
”But, you know, there’s no rule that says you can’t have more than one wife. My father had his share of ladies in his harem.”
”Still, Sir Umar was one of Azrael’s Twelve Divine Generals. And you’re an adventurer in the Western world now. It’s better to stick with one wife.”
Sarah gave a faint smile.
