Volume 3 Chapter 111 Yelmar’s Proposal I
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Drawing her knife from her waist, Sarah swiftly flipped in the air and stood behind the two Wolfmen charging at her. She moved her lips quietly, then exhaled sharply.
From Sarah’s mouth, 2 fist-sized bees flew out, attaching themselves to the necks of the boy and girl Wolfmen, stabbing their needles into their skin.
”Ughhhhh!” “N-Noooo!”
The boy and girl Wolfmen clearly struggled to hide their disgust at the giant fluorescent-colored insects, each over ten centimeters in size.
They finally completed their body enhancement, but by then, the bees had vanished without a trace, like shadows.
(Bees flew out of Sarah’s mouth, huh…)
Kian stared at Sarah’s back, slightly repelled.
(No way. Seriously, no way.)
Back when they had sex, he thought they had kissed a few times… seriously?
He felt a chill run down his spine.
A natural feeling of disgust.
Thinking back to what just happened before their intimacy, no matter how good the mood was, it felt like his arousal would instantly die.
’Even a hundred years of love might fade away…’
(Sarah’s beautiful, and she’s a good girl. It’s just… the way she handles things is grotesque.)
Her insect technique is proof of the hard training she’s done.
It would be rude to recoil mentally in response to that.
Kian chastised himself for wanting to distance himself, deciding to respect his childhood friend, who must have endured painful training.
”Hehe, I bet you’re struggling, huh?”
Sarah grinned fiercely while holding her sword to their backs.
”I injected you with the deadliest poison. If this goes on, you’ll bleed from your eyes, nose, and mouth, suffering and dying in agony.”
”Ugh, uuuu…”
The girl started crying, terrified.
Sarah loosened her lipstick-covered lips and whispered to the boy.
”Here’s the antidote. But there’s only enough for one. I’ll save whoever confesses first, telling me what organization you belong to and what you’ve been doing.”
”Huh, don’t joke around. I’m… not saying anything.”
The boy said bravely, despite the beads of sweat on his forehead.
And then, he cast a sharp glance at the girl next to him, who was shedding tears.
This isn’t even a real crisis.
His eyes, daring, seemed to say he’d find an opening and slit their throat…
But the girl, after glancing at the boy, hesitantly raised both her hands.
The knife slipped from the girl’s hands and fell.
”I’ll tell you everything. I don’t care what happens to Fuuro, just please save me.”
”Huh!? W-Wait, Mag! Are you betraying us!?”
”My life is more important! I don’t want to die!”
”Wh-What…?”
”Well then, let’s save this little lady. You──Fuuro, right?──unfortunately, you’re out of luck.”
”W-Wait! I’ll talk! I don’t care what happens to this damn woman!”
”Huh? You’re going to sell out your teammate!? You coward!”
”You’ve got no right to say that, you b*tch!”
(What the hell are these idiots…)
He always thought the Wolfmen were a proud warrior race, but looking at these kids, it’s clear there are differences even within the same tribe. They value their lives just like humans, and they’ll do anything to protect them. They’re no different from humans.
”I don’t care which one of you speaks, just tell me about your background and what you were doing. If you’re honest, maybe that woman will save both of you.”
”No, no, Kian. Don’t be easy. We’ll only save one. The one who gives us more useful information will be spared. ──One by one, over to the shadow of that tree. If you don’t want to die, you better start talking more than your partner.”
Sarah’s words had no warmth in them.
As a warrior monk on a mission, her attitude was ideal, but it was terrifying.
Kian, once again, made a firm decision in his mind: he would never make Sarah angry.
”Ms. Sarah, Kian!”
As Kian was binding the hands of the two, Serena finally caught up.
She appeared from the path Kian had made by cutting down shrubs, and when she saw the two Wolfmen bound, her eyes widened.
”Fuuro! Mag!”
”Tch…” “……”
Both turned their faces away, showing bitter expressions towards Serena.
Serena hurried over to the two and placed her hand on Mag’s forehead.
”You’re drenched in sweat. Your face is completely pale.”
”Don’t touch me!”
”Why are you acting like this when I’m worried about you?”
”Tch, it’s so annoying. Just because you’re the leader’s kid, you act all high and mighty.”
”You’re saying that now? Hey, Ms. Okina, what happened to these kids?”
”They were watching us. The shadow our scout Ms. Ninini found earlier was also one of them.”
”But they’re drenched in sweat and their faces are pale.”
”They got stung by my poisonous insect.”
Sarah said this matter-of-factly.
”And I said I’d help anyone who honestly tells me what they’ve been doing here.”
”──Hey, Serena. We’re on the same side, right? Help us out!”
The boy──Fuuro──looked up at Serena and said this.
His tone made it clear he didn’t think of Serena as an ally at all.
Was he in a different group when they lived together?
Or did he just dislike Serena personally?
In any case, the initial impression that Wolfmen have a strong sense of camaraderie had to be corrected here.
Even among the Wolfmen, there are differences between individuals.
Serena may care for her comrades, but that doesn’t mean these people do.
”We’re the ‘Storm Herd.’”
Fuuro, who had pulled them into the shade, started speaking in a low voice.
After Sarah set up a simple barrier to block out sound, she stood next to Kian and listened closely to the boy’s words.
”Yelmar told us to keep an eye on you. I didn’t want to, but I ended up teaming up with Mag, who’s also a low-ranking guy, and we had to watch your movements.”
’Who was Yelmar again?’
(He was the one we met before with Rean and Lyritisse, when we solved the beast problem in the border village. He’s a Wolfman who broke off from the official ‘Storm Herd’ led by Captain Glen, and created his own ‘Storm Herd,’ becoming the leader.)
The truth behind the incident was that Yelmar had been using the former Izerland Fortress’s Head Magician, Natasha, to conduct experiments related to the Bloodsucking Kind. The prototype creatures were what had been terrorizing the village.
Kian let Yelmar and his group go in exchange for twenty-three gold coins, and Yelmar promised to leave the area, disappearing northward.
Unlike the main group led by Glen, Yelmar’s faction wasn’t just earning money through mercenary work—they were also involved in darker activities like murder and theft.
They were no longer mercenaries but just another criminal organization.
