Volume 3 Chapter 122 The Light And Shadow Of Ozeas I
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Before *meeting* with Sarah, Kian needed to report everything to Maribel and Priscilla. Since both of them were often in the dream world at night, Kian decided to head there after explaining to Sarah that he had some important tasks to complete first.
Fortunately, both Maribel and Priscilla were present in the dream world tonight.
”I see, the situation is clear now.”
”So the Bloodsucking Kind incident wasn’t caused by Owl, but by the ‘Storm Herd’ opening a gate to another dimension?”
After listening to Kian’s report, both women nodded repeatedly, each having obtained the information they sought. Priscilla looked satisfied, while Maribel’s expression was more nuanced—perhaps disappointed that Owl wasn’t the culprit, or still harboring some doubts.
”Your Excellency, based on this information, the administrative council should discuss whether to close the interdimensional gate or leave it open to maintain the status quo. Please include the Adventurer’s Guild in this discussion. If possible, I’d appreciate a decision by tomorrow noon. I’ll return here before the operation begins in the evening.”
From a general perspective, the gate should undoubtedly be closed.
However, closing it would eliminate the threat looming over the Hairkin Races. If the gate were sealed and the Bloodsucking Kind’s numbers decreased, the Beastmen might either invade Ramsey without hesitation or, conversely, return to their own lands now that the threat was gone.
It was impossible to predict which way things would go, but closing the gate without careful consideration would undoubtedly cast a significant shadow over the war’s outcome.
Honestly, this was no longer a decision Kian, a mere adventurer, could make. To avoid being unfairly held responsible later, he needed to consult the higher-ups.
”Understood. In any case, I’ll return immediately and gather everyone.”
”Lord Kian, are you setting a trap to capture the magician Barghest?”
”Yes, he’s expected to deliver supplies to Lady Colinna tomorrow at sunset. When he steps out of the teleportation circle, I’ll destroy it and simultaneously break the nearby Spiritual Vein wedge. Barghest will be trapped in the ancient temple with no escape.”
He plan to disable his consciousness immediately, but he’ll take extra precautions just in case.
By destroying the teleportation facility, Barghest won’t be able to return to the ‘Storm Herd’ campsite. His subordinates will notice the disturbance but won’t be able to help him.
”Kian, there’s one more thing I need to report before you leave.”
”Yes.”
Kian stood up, following the golden-haired young princess. It would have been rude for him to remain seated while she was leaving.
Priscilla also stood and respectfully greeted Maribel, her manners reminiscent of the head witch of Châtillon, despite everything.
”It may be impossible to keep Oswald in prison any longer.”
”……Huh?”
”I’m terribly sorry. Skilled orators from Azrael and Châtillon have joined his case. Oswald was imprisoned without a proper trial, and noble and economic circles have criticized this arbitrary treatment. I’ll ensure the magic scroll binding him remains intact, but he’ll likely be released in 2 or 3 years after the trial.”
”I see.”
This outcome was expected once the decision not to kill Oswald was made.
He’ll continue to strengthen himself so he can win their next confrontation. If he’s released in a few years, it’s within his expectations.
”Do you think he’ll really be out in 2 or 3 years?”
”What do you mean, Priscilla?”
”There are people investing heavily in him. I don’t know who, but likely a wealthy individual from Azrael or Châtillon. Your Excellency, be careful that those around you aren’t bought off.”
”I understand. I hope your supporter isn’t you.”
”No, I’d never help such a vulgar man. I want him to stay there forever, so I hope Your Excellency does her best.”
”I see~desuno. Thank you very much for your support.”
Maribel responded as if she didn’t believe Priscilla’s words at all. As usual, the two’s compatibility is too poor….
”I’ll also investigate the spirits of Black Onyx and the otherworldly gate, though it’s not something that can be understood quickly…”
After Maribel left, Priscilla turned to Kian and said this while standing. Kian nodded.
”Thank you.”
”So, Rean probably contracted with the spirit of Black Onyx? Very interesting. Have you entered the otherworldly gate?”
”No.”
”Maybe tying a rope around his body would be a good way to investigate what’s inside.”
”That’s a primitive method, unexpected from Ms. Priscilla… The area around the gate is filled with Bloodsucking Kind, so it’s dangerous. And whether a rope would work is doubtful.”
”Yeah.”
Priscilla rubbed her brow.
”I want a sample. I want to capture a thorn monster alive.”
”…Is that an order?”
”It’s a request as a supporter. Interpret it as you see fit. But── if Lord Kian agrees, you won’t disappoint me, right?”
”────────────”
”As a substitute, I’ll send a useful weapon to the warrior monk targeting your life. It should also counter Linca, the warrior monk.”
”Is there such a thing!?”
”Yeah. It’s here. It’s the magic sword used by Nizaam, one of the Twelve Divine Generals.”
”Is this the person who was Oswald’s mentor? From the Malc family?”
”Yes. The famous Fiend with the Tiger’s Beard. In his younger days, he was Azrael’s strongest swordsman. Recently, he raided Châtillon’s port and was killed by his disciple Oswald.”
Priscilla continued, her expression unreadable.
”The sword is called ‘Misty Magic Sword.’ I’ll contact my subordinates to retrieve it from the treasury.”
”Treasury? Excuse me, but has that sword become Ms. Priscilla’s property?”
”Ha ha ha. I am the head Witch of Châtillon.”
Priscilla smiled.
”There’s nothing to worry about, so don’t mind it.”
”What exactly are you concerned about me? What specific disadvantages are you expecting, and how can they be denied?”
”Lord Kian, think more simply. The question is whether we need effective measures against the enemy or not.”
”──────”
”You defeated Oswald, after all. Armed, you can probably defeat any foe. Guy also said he’s never seen a warrior as ‘strong’ as you. But without equipment, you’d be completely reliant on Lady Sarah. If she overexerts herself, you might lose her.”
”…You really have the worst personality.”
”Thanks for the compliment. Well then, this is one favor owed. When you’ve accumulated 3 favors, I might have you become my husband. As my loyal knight, you’ll serve me forever. Both publicly and privately.”
”You’re joking, right?”
”Lord Kian, it’s your fault for rejecting my proposals so many times. I wouldn’t be happy if Lady Sarah beat me to it. Also, I want to see Princess Maribel’s face when she’s despairing.”
(I should never have anything to do with this person…)
He looked down at the white-haired Witch with an expressionless face. She was beautiful but a demon-like Witch.
Priscilla’s gaze crawled over Kian’s muscular arms, and she licked her lightly painted red lips.
”Send your familiar to the ancient temple where Ninini is protected. Soon, I’ll move the armaments through the Spiritual Vein. Is that okay?”
”……”
Kian was troubled about what to do. If he separated Vestacia from the facility, he planned to carry her back to the Great Forest immediately. There might not even be a situation where he’d have to fight the warrior monk or Linca.
At least he was reluctant to fight Linca──.
The magic sword would likely be unnecessary. If he refused, now was the moment.
However── considering the worst-case scenario, refusing the sword here might lead to the annihilation of Kian’s party.
Regret does not precede action.
”Lord Kian?”
”…I understand. I’ll have my familiar wait at the ancient temple.”
”Very well.”
Priscilla smiled seductively, then reached for Kian’s lips, gently tracing them with her thumb.
”Well then, it’s a promise.”
”……”
Priscilla winked and disappeared. Kian let out a small sigh in the empty house.

The next day, Kian, along with Rean and a dozen Wolfmen warriors, marched through the dangerous mountains where the Bloodsucking Kind roamed, searching for the stake embedded in the Spiritual Vein.
Kian and Rean handled most of the threats, while the Wolfmen warriors located the Spiritual Vein. Kian mainly used charm, while Rean focused on subjugation. Thus, Kian didn’t consume much stamina as he walked alongside the warriors on the mountain path.
