Volume 3 Chapter 131-2 Unexpected Reunion

 ”Yes.”

”If you tell me why, I’ll share it, but”

”I can’t trust you. You’ll use it against me, right?”

Umar struggled to stand, swaying a bit.

Demete quickly moved to help him and gave Umar a bottle with red medicine from his pocket.

Umar said “Excuse me,” opened the bottle, and drank the medicine.

Soon, his weak heartbeat grew strong, and Kian noticed.

His heart pounded hard, and red blood flowed through his body.

Umar’s muscles tightened, and he breathed heavily under a handkerchief.

”The info I have is for negotiating with the Margrave. I can’t just give it away.”

”But if I don’t know what you have, I can’t talk to Princess Maribel.”

 Kian kept talking.

”You’re relying on the princess’s mercy. At least explain the situation. You said Izerland will burn, but is that true? I can’t introduce someone who scares her for no reason. It affects my trust.”

”About Jibril: Jibril wants to start a big war, not just small fights.”

 Umar kept talking.

”I know the war plan. I know the enemy monsters’ weaknesses and how to fight them. I’ll also give the Margrave new magic tools from my family.”

 Umar didn’t stop.

”If you want, I’ll share the ‘Death List’ to cause trouble for the enemy. It won’t stop Jibril, but it’ll slow them down. I also know how to strengthen the Holy Sword to help the Knights of the Sun.”

”Lord Oswald should stay in prison forever…”

”He’ll return soon. A young Margrave can’t stop him.”

 Umar smiled and spoke.

 Kian nodded.

”What do you want from the princess?”

”I want to explore the interdimensional gate and investigate. I need permission for that. Also, I want the Margrave’s protection in this borderland.”

 ”That’s vague.”

”I’ll discuss details with the Margrave directly. I won’t tell you.”

 ”Hmm…”

”Kian, tell the princess to seize the ‘Storm Herd’ safe deposit box. It has a magic contract to control Barghest.”

 Demete spoke up.

He definitely plan to suggest something about that, but regarding the Royal Capital’s bank, they have to follow the wishes of King Franz and the bank owners. Probably no one can do something as outrageous as opening the ‘Storm Herd’ vault without permission and taking the wealth inside. As for Barghest’s magic contract, it’s likely difficult to recover.

 ”Kian, what should we do?”

 Sarah asked.

 Kian replied with a question.

”Do you think we can hide this from Her Excellency?”

”I don’t think so. It’s not our call. We should talk to the princess.”

 ”Yeah, let’s do that.”

 ”Oh~, I’m surprised~!”

Katyusha, holding her sword, looked shocked.

 ”I thought you’d refuse…”

 ”I told you so.”

Demete looked at Kian and told Katyusha.

”Kian, like Jibril, is cold-hearted. He acts logically. If you’re useful, he’ll spare you and connect you to the Margrave.”

 ”But I’d kill you here.”

 ”Then why don’t you?”

”Enough blood has been spilled tonight.”

 Kian looked around the courtyard.

Not only the warrior monks sent by Jibril but also Sven and the others Yelmar lent us lay in tragic shapes.

Instead of adding another body here, it’d be better to first build graves for those who helped him and honor their remains.

”Put some food in their mouths. So they won’t go hungry in the afterlife.”

”Right. We did them wrong. I’m sorry, Yelmar. You sent help, but we couldn’t protect them.”

”It’s the opposite. I sent them to protect you. The fault lies with their luck and my judgment. But they’d be satisfied dying on the battlefield. We’ll build graves, drink heavily, and send Sven and the others off properly.”

”I’ll pass on the drinking—I can’t handle alcohol.”

 Umar sat in his wheelchair.

”Kian, Sarah, tell the Margrave quickly. It’s about Izerland’s survival.”

”Sir Umar, rest for a bit.”

”No. I need to check the dimensional gate first.”

Umar gave orders to Katyusha and others.

Yelmar asked the Wolfmen women to bring alcohol and started cleaning up the bodies.

A blond young man appeared, clean and unharmed.

 ”Ah, reinforcements. Battle’s over, right?”

 ”Rean! Where were you?”

 Kian and Sarah walked over.

 Rean shrugged.

”I was protecting Vest and Ninini.”

”I told you to transport supplies!”

Sarah said coldly, but Rean didn’t care.

”I changed plans. A monk threatened Vest and Ninini, so I saved them.”

”Because of you, the enemy escaped! We almost died!”

 ”But you’re alive, right?”

 ”That’s not the point!”

 Sarah’s angry voice echoed.

 Everyone stopped to look.

”…I can’t stand this. Kian, I never want to see him again.”

 ”Sarah, where are you going?”

”I’m checking on Ninini and Vestacia! Ninini might need help!”

 ”Thank you.”

Sarah glared at Rean and left, breathing hard.

”Rean, follow the plan. Your actions could’ve killed us all.”

 ”Sorry. I’ll be careful.”

”Can’t change the past. You’ll do better.”

”Yeah… I acted out of habit.”

 ”It’s more than habit…”

 Kian sighed.

”Your team is gone. What’s your plan?”

”I’ll buy back Lyr and Ninini.”

”If you won’t sacrifice Sarah or Serena, do as you please.”

 ”I won’t do that.”
