Volume 3 Chapter 135-2 Post-Battle Arrangements
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
She was almost invincible in the Western world.
Even in the Eastern world, except for a few like Shura, she was still unstoppable.
Depending on the situation, she was stronger than both Sarah and Natra.
(I need to convince her quickly.)
”──We have arrived.”
”Hello.”
Kian stepped into the stone room, about the size of a tavern’s first floor. He gave a polite smile to the bent old warrior monk waiting there.
In the center stood a wooden frame made of black onyx. Nearby were a bunch of black roses, and the figure of Vestacia tied up with thorny vines. Ninini lay on a stretcher, eyes closed as if dead. A clear tube ran from her crotch to a bucket by her side.
In the corner, Sarah and Demete were discussing something. Large sheets of paper with formulas were taped to the wall.
”Sarah.”
”──Kian. Sorry for calling you here.”
After finishing her talk with Demete, Sarah came over. She kept opening and closing her left hand in a steady rhythm for some reason.
”Sir Kian.”
”Demete.”
Kian bowed formally to the dark elf magician as well.
He looked between Sarah and Demete’s faces.
”How is Ms. Ninini?”
”As you see, magic is forcing her organs to move. If we don’t give her energy regularly, her tachyonian cells will stop working. She will die if this continues.”
”I heard Lord Rean has sacrificed companions before.”
Demete glanced at Sarah, then back to Kian.
”Could you ask him how he kept her alive then?”
Kian answered in a tired tone.
”I already asked. In the past, Lyritisse was the one sacrificed. Vestacia kept her alive then. Afterward, unconscious Lyritisse was taken to a healing clinic. The guild’s healers took over. Rean said he doesn’t really understand the details.”
”Well, he’s not a magician.”
”Then, how is Lord Rean now, Sir Kian?”
Kian shrugged at Demete’s question.
”He plans to ask Umar if he can join their group. Also, in about two weeks, some adventurers might come here asking to join his party temporarily. I just sent three Wing Cain to deliver his request.”
”You requested reinforcements through the guild?”
”More like, Rean’s request will be sent through the guild to all adventurers. Young, strong, ambitious adventurers will be happy to work with the heroes of Lion’s Companion. I doubt anyone will refuse. If adventurers show up, please don’t chase them away without a word.”
”I’ll inform Sir Umar.”
Demete said this as Sarah tightened her lips, looking troubled.
She seemed about to say something but stopped.
”By the way, Sir Kian, where have you been?”
”I was searching around for Jibril’s remnants. I also killed a few dangerous Bloodsucking Kind.”
”That explains the muddy smell.”
”Yeah.”
Kian kept his serious face.
”If Jibril’s group moves, it will be at night, not during the day. There might be reserves left, and we could be watched. We must stay alert.”
”I can’t leave this place carelessly because of Ms. Ninini’s condition. Please urgently tell Ms. Priscilla to come here. I really can’t move at this rate, Kian.”
”What about the other quest, Sarah?”
”The secret audit mission.”
Sarah nodded, glancing at Demete, biting her lip in frustration.
”Anyway, if we let Ms. Ninini die, I want to help. But if I can save lives, I want to do as much as I can. Sorry.”
”No. If we bring many people to Ramsey, the risk of being found grows. I’ll handle it from here.”
”Ms. Serena might help once she wakes up. Or we could wait for Ms. Priscilla and the others. That would be better. If Rufna and Natra come, it’ll be much easier.”
”Barghest that threatened the outpost fled to Azrael. The ones who caused trouble for Lyritisse probably won’t attack guild staff. No need to strengthen defenses.”
”Yes. Only thing left is keeping Ms. Lyritisse alive. We must rely on Ms. Priscilla for that.”
”Well, if the worst happens and she dies, the handover to the guild is done. It won’t affect our evaluation.”
Kian’s cold words made Sarah shake her head.
She likely agreed but wanted to save Lyritisse as much as possible.
For now, she was just an unlucky victim.
‘For Ninini and Lyritisse, you can let Wraith take over their bodies, just in case.’
(That’s a last resort. The body changes can’t be undone. I’m okay with Sarah and Linca, but I won’t care for them.)
In ability, Lyritisse’s body is good to absorb. But she and Kian probably don’t get along. Their future looks full of fights and no happy ending.
”Sir Kian, the Beastmen Alliance’s investigation team will arrive soon.”
”Expected.”
”Sir Umar plans to meet them, but he can’t overwork. You should handle it.”
”Even if Umar is sick, he’ll try to stay. But he can’t last long, huh?”
”Demete, I will join the talks with the Beastmen. Please keep Ms. Ninini alive. You’ll take care of Sir Umar during the meeting.”
”Sarah, you’re clearly overworking. I’ll handle the talks. Don’t worry.”
”I do worry, Kian.”
Sarah frowned.
”What if the envoy has spies? If Beastmen kill you and Umar, we’ll lose our leaders. Yelmar’s side can’t be trusted either. If the alliance betrays us, they’ll attack.”
”Well, we’re low on strength. It seems we need Natra and Rufna.”
”Exactly. So, I’ll join the talks too. Demete, understood?”
”Do I have a choice?”
”No.”
Even as Sarah forced the decision, Demete didn’t change expression.
He calmly nodded, saying “As expected.”
”Kian, rest while you can. The bloodsucker thinning will be handled by that battle maniac.”
”Got it.”
”Depending on talks, we might fight the Beastmen’s elite soon. ‘Silver Ice’ and ‘Nightshade’ are under Mrs. Colinna’s care. Go get them and prepare well.”
