Volume 3 Chapter 139-3 Exciting Infidelity

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

If Linca’s control broke before she fully trusted Kian, she might betray him and lead him into danger. That would mean death. But losing such a precious ally was too painful to accept.

The air between them carried a strange but pleasant scent—an unusual mix that was strong yet never unpleasant.

”Your smell… I found strangely comforting.”

Linca’s eyes fluttered, her expression soft but distant.

Kian gently withdrew, his energy still strong even after their long ordeal. His stamina and strength had been growing steadily since his transformation deepened.

Without hesitation, Kian leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers.

She responded slowly, eyes half closed, and opened her mouth to meet his.

 Kian whispered softly,

”Ninety-six more times after this. Ninety-seven if you don’t count the last oral part.”

Linca blinked in mild confusion, her voice barely above a whisper.

 ”I-I.”

 He looked puzzled. “Huh?”

She smiled quietly and spoke again. “I-I see.”

Linca closed her eyes briefly, and a soft glow surrounded her hands as she cast a healing spell, restoring her strength.

Though still weak, she let out quiet, gentle breaths.

Kian reminded her to count everything.

 She nodded slightly.

 ”Then, ninety-seven more times.”

 A silence filled the room.

Linca nodded again with quiet resolve.

Kian carefully helped her up, holding her close to his chest.

 ”But that was very nice.”

 Linca said softly.

”Yes… me too,” he murmured, voice gentle. “It feels almost like a dream.”

 Kian’s voice lowered with calm.

”When your body feels better, could you prepare a bath? I need to return to the ancient temple for a short time.”

 Linca looked surprised.

 ”Eh…?”

”I won’t be long. I had a meeting with a client in the dream world.”

 ”I see,” she replied.

 Kian’s voice softened with concern.

”I need to report back to my allies. Serena—the Wolfmen girl—may have woken up as well.”

 Linca nodded slowly.

 ”I understand.”

”It can feel lonely sometimes, right?”

 Her cheeks flushed.

”Eh? No, not at all. I am not lonely.”

”I was lonely,” Kian admitted quietly.

At his words, Linca leaned gently against him, seeking warmth.

”Then, just a little more human warmth. I will be my usual self again.”

 ”Understood.”

 Kian said.

They drew closer, shivering slightly from the cold. Their bodies slick from sweat and exhaustion.

As Linca shifted, her movement brushed lightly against Kian’s knee. She lost her balance and stumbled.

In surprise, she reached out to steady herself.

 Their eyes met closely.

The moment was so funny that they both laughed softly.

They held each other, chuckling quietly for some time, comforted by their shared warmth.

 ”Well then, I’ll wait here.”

Linca spoke softly, her voice calm and steady.

 One hour passed.

Linca returned, fully refreshed and transformed. The white haori fluttered lightly over her black Eastern-style dress. Her steps were light but sure as she came out to see Kian off.

She approached with a warm, tired smile.

”Sorry to have made you wait.”

Kian shook his head, brushing a loose strand of hair from his face. A small, tired smile appeared.

 ”No, it’s fine.”

He spoke in a low but relaxed tone.

”I still feel a bit uneasy after being freed from so many bindings, but I plan to enjoy this calm feeling of idleness for now.”

The near-death pallor from just hours before was gone. Linca’s face now shone with life — brighter and more vibrant than when they first reunited. Her voice held fresh energy and determination.

Kian reached up and ran his hand through his hair, a faint grin tugging at his lips.

”When I come back,” he said thoughtfully, “I’ll have a few things I want to ask you about.”

 Curiosity sparkled in Linca’s eyes.

”Oh? What might those be? Something about the audit mission?”

 She asked with interest.

 Kian nodded, his gaze sharpening.

 ”That too.”

 He answered.

”But also about the Hairkin Races’ tribal council and the warrior monk techniques.”

Linca placed a steady hand over her heart. Her expression turned serious.

”If it’s something I can help with, just ask.”

 She offered sincerely.

Kian lifted his backpack onto his shoulder. He glanced toward the cave entrance where the cooking pot and meat dishes were neatly set down, making his load lighter.

 ”Thank you.”

 He said simply.

Before he could step away, Linca’s voice stopped him.

”Ah, before you leave… could I have some of your blood, Sir Kian?”

 She asked quietly.

 Kian froze, brows knitting.

”Blood? Why would you want that?”

 He gave a teasing smirk.

”You’re not planning to drink it, are you?”

Her nose wrinkled in mild disgust.

”No, I’m not going to drink it.”

 She said firmly.

 ”That’s disgusting.”

 ”So then… why?”

 Kian asked, curious.

Linca pulled a small glass vial from her pocket, holding it up carefully.

”I want to examine the components.”

 She explained.

”I believe there might be differences in your blood when you’re in Mist Form versus your normal state.”

 Kian’s interest was piqued.

”And by studying that, you hope to improve your ability, right?”

 He asked.

 ”That’s exactly the idea.”

She nodded. He gave a slow nod.

 ”Alright.”

 Kian said.

”Do you have a clean knife?”

 ”There’s no need for that.”

 Linca shook her head.

Her hand trembled slightly as she reached up to touch his neck. In the next moment, a small vial filled with deep red blood.

 ”Mist Form, please.”

 She said quietly.

A hazy mist began to swirl beneath his chest, blurring the air like a veil. Linca carefully took another sample of blood in this state.

The blood inside the second bottle was far darker than the first.

 ”It’s obviously different.”

 Kian remarked, eyes narrowing.

 ”It seems so.”

Linca replied, tucking the vial safely into the pocket of her white cloak.

She turned to face him, a faint smile lingering on her lips.

”Well then, take care, Sir Kian.”

She said warmly. Kian paused before leaving.

”I think I’ll be back in about one or two hours.”

 He said with a shrug.

”But I’m not sure what will happen.”

 Linca nodded solemnly.

 ”There’s no need to hurry.”

 She told him.

”Please take your time, but don’t neglect your vigilance near the ancient temple. Is Ms. Sarah alone now?”

 Kian shook his head.

”No, I met up with Umar on the way.”

He replied, “Didn’t I mention that?”

Linca’s brow lifted slightly in acknowledgment, no surprise crossing her face.

 ”I see.”

Her gaze shifted toward the ancient temple.

”My task here was to capture Umar and bring him back — which means Shura could not escape and were all wiped out.”

 Her voice held quiet pride.

 Kian’s tone hardened.

 ”That’s right.”

 He said.

 ”But I killed him.”

 He added.

 ”Wasn’t he someone you trained?”

Linca gave a slow, firm nod.
