Volume 3 Chapter 140-3 Dangerous Cheating Trip
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Ms. Ninini had enough skill. She helped with Rean too. And for someone with little combat training, Rean still did a good job.”
”Good job? That sword-swinging guy was the biggest problem.”
Sarah’s mood is still… sharp.
She’s always been the type to hold things inside. She tries to look strong outside.
When Sarah was upset, Kian was the one who had to calm her down.
”Sarah, I might smell a bit like sweat, but let’s sit together. I’ll listen. And I’ll tell you about the meeting with Her Excellency and Ms. Priscilla.”
”Will you hold me?”
”If you want me to.”
”Then hold me. And… pet me a lot.”
She was twenty-seven, but for Kian, who knew her since long ago, this wasn’t strange.
Kian took off his coat, Silver Ice, and sat in the corner. Sarah smiled and sat on him, leaning against his back.
If he hadn’t… spent himself earlier with Linca, his body would’ve reacted. He didn’t want that now. If she noticed, it might turn into something else. He had to hold back.
He also didn’t want her to see his body. He had removed all his hair—if she stripped him now, it’d be too much to explain.
”You shaved your arms too?”
”They’re part of my hands, aren’t they?”
”Going to shave… everywhere?”
”Maybe. It’s cleaner that way.”
Sarah giggled and kissed his cheek.
”Now you look good enough to go to a party with me.”
”So I didn’t before?”
”Of course not. I didn’t even want to walk next to you in big towns. I kept telling you to shave.”
”Ouch. Unlike me, you always look nice.”
Sarah looked down, her cheeks pink.
”Because I want you to always see me looking pretty.”
”Eh?”
Kian’s thoughts wandered. Bugs. Mud. That cave.
”What is it, Kian?”
”Ah, nothing. I’ll tell you about the meeting.”
He told her the report and the orders from Maribel. While he spoke, his arm brushed her chest, and he couldn’t help but glance at her legs through the slit in her skirt. Her skin was smooth and brown, and the smell of honey from her body had already stuck to his clothes. Her hair smelled soft. Her body was warm.
Even though Linca made his senses numb, Sarah was still… amazing.
He reminded himself: She’s still a good woman.
’But you cheat.’
(This isn’t cheating. This is adventure. The great adventure you always wanted.)
’My heart can’t take it. Please stop.’
(You don’t even have a heart.)
”I understand. Mostly what we expected.”
”Even if Umar handles the talks, they’ll probably try to shut the gate. Once we hand Rean and the others to the Guild, we’ll need to leave right away…”
”They might send elite soldiers first. If it was just us, we could run to the Great Forest now, but… I can’t do that. Some of the people in Vahid are old friends. I can’t abandon them.”
”I’m not leaving Serena either. She’ll try to protect Lady Colinna. And if they try to cross the Great Forest, they’ll be caught between beastmen and soldiers. We might be fine, but they won’t survive.”
Even if Natra and Rufna showed up in time, the battle would be messy. Protecting Serena and Colinna would still be hard.
”We need more info about the strong beastmen tribes. Are there any magic swords or spears? If yes, what can they do?”
”Also, we need to reach Mr. Owl in Ramsey. I thought Her Excellency would offer him a deal, but that didn’t happen.”
”Fighting beastmen is almost sure now… but what about the secret audit from the Princess?”
”If Owl acts like he doesn’t know, it’ll be fine. We just have to talk and make a deal he likes.”
”And if he’s the reason for the dead rising?”
”We ask first. Talk later.”
”Are you serious? He drinks people’s blood. How do you talk to that?”
Sarah looked worried. Kian shook his head.
”Mr. Owl is a monster, yes. But not evil. He follows rules. Not like other monsters.”
”That makes it worse. He’s smart.”
”But sitting here does nothing. Before the alliance moves, we’ll try to meet him in Ramsey.”
”Will it be okay…?”
”That’s my line. You should finish the golem and make sure the temple is safe.”
”Right. I’ll also think about traps and where to place our people in case Yelmar betrays us.”
She kissed him again, then stood. Kian stood too.
”I trust you.”
”Yeah. I’ll be back safe.”
He patted his chest. But Sarah looked at his smooth arm with a frown.
”It’s okay to trust you, right? I feel uneasy.”
”I won’t die.”
”That’s not what I meant… whatever. I’m just thinking too much.”
She picked up Silver Ice and gave it to him.
”Black coat’s better for sneaking in. What about your magic? Will you drain it from Ms. Ninini or Ms. Vestacia?”
”No. I’ll keep it low. If I absorb too much, my magic feels strange, and they’ll notice. I won’t be fighting anyway.”
”If it gets bad, run from Ramsey.”
Sarah looked at him as he put on the coat. She looked like she was praying.
’Nightshade’ was still with the woman he’d been with—in Linca’s cave. If she ran away, it’d be trouble. But with their magic deal, she couldn’t leave until she… finished what was promised—ninety-seven more times.
”When will the alliance envoy come? Umar’s delaying them, right?”
”He said we have three or four days at most.”
”Then we go in three days. One day to get to Ramsey.”
Even pushing hard, they’d only have one full day to meet Owl and talk. They had to watch for outside news and adjust their timing.
Kian had one last deep kiss with Sarah, intertwining their tongues, before being seen off by her as he left the room.
