Volume 3 Chapter 36 Chasing The Shadow Of The Past II
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Hey! Stop it!”
”Why?”
”Why? … Didn’t Kian learn that from the tutor?”
+9*9
”What?”
Sarah’s face contorted in confusion, and she gave a deeply sympathetic look.
After a moment of hesitation, she spoke in a serious tone.
”This book is about… making babies.”
”Making babies? Hmmm. Does touching a woman’s crotch make a baby appear?”
”No! … This page. You see, like, doing this… this intimate thing… makes a baby.”
”You’re putting… a p**is into a woman’s p**is…”
”Women don’t have penises!”
”Huh? Really? Then what does Sarah have?”
”────”
Sarah was as red as a boiled shrimp.
She glared at Kian with wide, panicked eyes.
In her mind, the signal for “This is getting hot! Kian, you idiot!” was probably flashing, and her brain was trying to decide whether to shut down completely.
But she was Kian’s fiancée, and Kian was completely clueless about s*x (by design). Plus, he was neglected at home, so she couldn’t expect him to learn from anyone else.
She might think, “It’s such a shame. He’s going to be embarrassed someday.” Sarah was a kind soul, after all.
Had Sarah made up her mind, or what? She placed her hands on her knees and slowly moved closer to Kian.
Her thin lips trembled, and her eyes were slightly glistening as she met his gaze.
A hand, thicker than one would expect from a girl her age, touched her ear.
Sarah’s warmth radiated, and a soft sigh brushed against his skin.
”…It’s called a ‘va**na,’ you know?”
”Va**na?”
”Yeah. It’s kind of complicated, but it’s basically like a hole…If we don’t have any future together, Kian’s p**is would go in there.”
Sarah pulled away after saying that.
It was unclear why she whispered in his ear, but the feeling in his groin was undeniable.
”So if I put my p**is in Sarah’s p**sy, we’ll have a baby? It seems pretty simple.”
”No, listen. We have to love each other deeply and make each other feel good. Otherwise, you can’t ej***late.”
”So, ej***lating inside the v**ina is how you make a baby? But then, why are these people in this baby-making book touching and licking each other’s private parts?”
”That’s what loving each other is all about. If we touch like this…won’t you feel good too?”
Sarah paused, then muttered, “Why am I explaining this so seriously?”
”So, you can’t make a baby unless you ej***late?”
”Yeah, probably…”
”Well, I want to practice with you, Sarah, starting now.”
”Eeeek!?”
She screamed, then quickly covered her mouth.
As Kian reached out, she backed away, avoiding his touch.
”No, it’s not allowed. Making a baby is something you do with the person you truly love. It’s a duty you fulfill only after you’re married and need to produce an heir.”
”Isn’t it unfair to forbid baby-making before marriage, and then demand it after? What if you get married and then can’t enjoy it, or fail because you don’t know the proper way? What if you end up needing the Servants to guide you through it step by step? Are you confident you can love each other like the couple in this book?”
”Well…um, I…”
”If ej***lating inside is how you make a baby, then we can just do it outside. We should practice when we can, so we’re ready for the real thing. You always say you can’t do more in the real thing than you’ve trained for, right?”
”There you go again, twisting things around. Are you just looking for an excuse to do something naughty?”
She crossed her arms over her budding chest and glared at him.
Kian met her gaze and nodded.
”Yes, I want to practice making a baby with you.”
”W-what!? That’s…that’s too direct, my heart can’t take it!”
”Anyway, in a couple of years, we’ll probably be married and have to do this for real. It’s better to practice now. As future leaders of the Twelve Divine Generals, we have an obligation to create strong children for the next generation, so we should get used to it.”
”You seriously think you’re going to succeed the Twelve Divine Generals? There’s no way you can… ah.”
”──So, do you think Jibril will become one of the Twelve Divine Generals, just like the others in my household? I… I’ll be cast aside and abandoned once I’ve outlived my usefulness.”
”N-No, that’s not true! I won’t abandon you once you’re no longer useful! Who told you something like that?”
”I don’t need to be told. It’s clear. It’s either Jibril or me. Only one of us can inherit the Twelve Divine Generals. And… while I’m always alone, I can see how everyone gathers around Jibril. It’s obvious what everyone thinks.”
”────!”
Kian half-expected to be slapped across the cheek for saying something so foolish.
But in an unexpected turn, Sarah’s eyes welled up with tears, and she pulled Kian into a tight hug.
”I’m here for you! I’m here!”
”────. Really?”
”Yes! I swear, I’ll never leave you alone! I will protect you!”
”Then…”
Kian continued, his gaze fixed on Sarah’s nape.
”If I were to be exiled to the Franz Kingdom, would you come with me?”
It was an impossibly difficult question to ask a 13-year-old girl.
Sarah was the daughter of the Twelve Divine Generals, and as a child, her emotional desire to protect Kian was all she knew.
So Kian thought she would immediately answer “I’ll go with you” without hesitation.
But when the time actually came for Kian to be exiled, she would probably be forced to face reality, persuaded by others, and end up trying to align herself with Jibril, who would succeed the household.
After years of hardship, Kian had come to believe that human emotions were, in the end, fleeting and easily swayed.
”I… can’t do that.”
But then,
still holding him, she spoke in a trembling voice, firmly saying just that.
”…May I ask why?”
”Kian, I’m the eldest daughter of the Nakash family.”
She pulled away, staring at him directly.
Her face wasn’t angry, nor was it tearful.
She only wore an expression of strong resolve.
”My body belongs to the Nakash family. As long as it benefits the Nakash, I can protect you. But if you were to go to a different world from Azrael, then I wouldn’t be able to balance protecting you and serving the Nakash family anymore. …To abandon Nakash and flee overseas? I couldn’t do that. I have my father, mother, and younger sister. I can’t be so selfish.”
Sarah sniffed and twisted her face.
”But, meeting you and wanting to protect you… that’s true. If you weren’t being banished by Shin and Franz, if you weren’t given such a small territory, I’d go with you. I’d follow you anywhere for you.”
”Banishment is not impossible. You know my father’s views, right?”
”…If it comes to you leaving for another world, then I will… take the most appropriate actions for your sake.”
”────”
The most appropriate actions.
At those heavy words, Kian remembered Sarah’s actions at the port, the shadow he had seen, and the sight of her weeping as she watched the departing ship, all flashing before his eyes like a kaleidoscope.
His thoughts raced like lightning.
This girl…
Did Sarah bring up Jibril’s name and act coldly, intentionally trying to sever Kian’s lingering feelings?
If so, everything started to make sense.
Sarah Nakash felt sorrow mixed with relief at the end of Kian’s life as a warrior monk.
That’s why she told him to abandon his sword and choose a different path back then.
She believed that would lead to a happier world for Kian.
A happy world wouldn’t need Azrael or Sarah Nakash.
She had become the villain, stabbing Kian with a heart full of anguish, all for his sake.
(Sarah… You didn’t understand me at all. In the end, I clung to my sword. I couldn’t, and wouldn’t, give up my yearning and envy of Azrael’s warrior monk status. Your kindness was poison to me.)
But still, he wanted to cherish her gentle feelings.
She had made her decision, thinking in her own way about what would be best for Kian.
He was glad he could understand that.
”Thank you, Sarah. And… I’m sorry for everything until now.”
”Why are you apologizing, Kian?”
”Because I’ve done some terrible things to you.”
Kian threw the magazine aside and stood up.
There was no point in apologizing to the shadow of her── but not apologizing would have been even stranger.
”Let’s go now.”
(I don’t know how long this shadow world will last, but I’ll just take magic power from someone else.)
”Wait.”
”Huh?”
Sarah, still kneeling, gently tugged at his sleeve.
When Kian looked down in surprise, she was staring up at him with her eyes flickering strangely.
”How about practicing making a baby? If you want, I can do it for you now. Anything, except for making a baby, I’ll do whatever you want, Kian.”
