Rising Monk V3c44

Volume 3 Chapter 44 Quest: The Beginning Of The Rematch – Secret Technique

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

To save Sarah, fused with the wraith, Kian must use his ability from 15 years ago to defeat her──

To solve this tough problem, Kian left the base with Natra early in the morning.

By the way, Rufna is busy today buying food and feeding the wraith familiar.

She planned to join them when she finished.

The practice place is the training ground ‘Sandy Beach’ owned by Adventurer Guild Châtillon.

Kian is not worried about the warrior monk’s skills being stolen, but he wanted a private place, so he chose the least popular area for training (the sandy beach is hard to walk on and hot, making it tough to swing weapons.

Plus, the sand makes the gear all gritty, which means a lot of hard work to clean).

Priscilla took care of all the Adventurer Guild paperwork.

Kian was worried if she would help since he upset her last night, but 30 minutes after sending a letter, he got a short message back saying, “It’s all set, feel free to use it.”

Now that he thinks about it, he told her the night before that they would practice during the day.

Compared to the slow service at the Adventurer Guild East End, this seemed very quick and thoughtful.

Priscilla might really be a very skilled official.

”The sand is not a problem for us. The bigger issue is if there are other adventurers bothering us. Lady Priscilla understands this well,”

Natra said, looking up at the bright sun with a wooden sword in hand.

Kian nodded and looked up at the clear blue sky.

 Seagulls were in the sky.

The salty smell of the sea reached his nose.

From the ocean, he could hear rowing songs today as well.

The training ground ‘Sandy Beach’ is behind the Adventurer Guild building, like a hidden place between 2 big rocks along the coastline.

Just as he was told, there are no shadows here, and he can see some boats with white sails on the ocean and a casino island in the distance.

It looks like if he brought his swimsuit, he could enjoy a vacation here.

”Will it be hot if I take off my shoes?”

”It’s still early morning, so not too bad. But it might get tough when the sun is high.”

”Then I’ll keep my shoes on for now. Just wait a bit before we start. I’ll take off my shirt. I don’t want sand or sweat to make Rufna’s job harder.”

”If Sir Kian is taking off clothes, so will I.”

Natra said this and slowly took off her white clothes.

Underneath, she wore a black off-shoulder top like Serena’s and pure white shorts.

The shorts were loose, and at first glance, they looked like a mini skirt.

Her brown legs were long and very healthy.

 ”Yo…”

Natra neatly folded her clothes and piled them up higher on the sandy beach.

When she bent over to place her clothes, he couldn’t help but stare at how her legs looked, with her tight little backside showing through her white shorts.

While he was watching the lines of her underwear showing through her shorts, Natra finished placing her clothes, tucked her hair behind her ear, and turned to him.

”Sir Kian, what are you doing? If you’re taking off clothes, do it quickly.”

 ”Oh, right. Sorry.”

”Really… Just give it to me. I will fold what you take off.”

 ”Thanks.”

(Natra may have picky eating habits like Sarah, but she can clean and organize, so she is better wife material than Sarah was as a kid…)

He once asked Natra if she had a fiancé, and she said, “I never had that chance.”

The reason is that she was too talented as an apostle and simply has a bit of a dominant personality.

In the male-dominated world of Azrael, where men build harems, women like Natra who are mean and cheeky are not liked.

By the way, Almeisa seemed to have had a fiancé.

Talking about the past is pointless, but she was sweet and had a good wife vibe, so many wanted her.

Natra, who was not popular and lived in her sister’s shadow, secretly felt sad and threw herself into her sword training, confessing this from her memories.

 Anyway, back to the story.

Kian and Natra stood about 15 meters apart, ready with their wooden swords in casual clothes.

”If we want to be serious, we should fight when our magic power is low, but for now, let’s think of the best way. I want you to try my attack. I need your honest opinion.”

 ”Okay!”

After Natra nodded, Kian charged his wooden sword with magic power.

He used ‘impact’ to strengthen his weapon.

Then he added ‘pierce’ to ignore defenses and deal damage.

Even in those days, Kian could do this if he saved energy.

But keeping energy on the wooden sword costs a lot of magic power.

Normally, you would always use ‘pierce’, but for weak little Kian, he could only use it for a special moment.

 ”Ha──!”

He kicked off the sand and charged straight ahead.

The soft sand made it hard to jump, slowing him down.

But it was good for training and building strength.

Kian used ‘Leap’ only for the first kick, then let inertia carry him closer to Natra.

As he got close, he swung down his wooden sword.

He sliced down from the side of his right ear.

A special cutting technique used by warrior monks.

 A spiral cut.

This technique allows for faster and sharper cuts than raising the blade above.

But it’s hard to do with a heavy sword like the ones western swordsmen use.

This attack is possible because Azrael’s curved sword weighs about 5 hundred grams.

 ”Huh…”

A simple charge can be easily dodged if there’s 15 meters of space.

Natra quickly dodged to the right and thrust her wooden sword into Kian’s chest.

 ”Yah!”

A clear voice from the girl.

Her right foot stomped down, kicking up sand.

Of course, the tip of the wooden sword stopped just before piercing Kian’s solar plexus.

Natra glared at Kian with cold eyes, but relaxed her expression once the fight was over.

Kian stood frozen, still holding the wooden sword above.

 ”Not good.”

”Just charging won’t work. Even a normal warrior monk can dodge from this distance. Can you really pierce my sister’s wall with that?”

 ”It’s meant to pierce.”

 ”No.”

Natra put her hands on her hips and shook her head.

”If they see the ‘pierce’, they’ll not only guard with the ‘wall’, but also quickly use their energy to counterattack. With your magic power, Sir Kian, you might even break your wooden sword. ──Come at me.”

 ”No way!”

 ”Hah!”

Without any warning, Kian thrust the wooden sword at Natra’s ‘wall’.

He released his energy to activate the ‘pierce’, but Natra had already gathered her magic power and canceled it out.

 Just as she said.

 The attack was completely nullified.

”No… Natra is just too good. If someone can control their energy like that at high speed, no one can pierce through. The difference in skill is too big; this isn’t even a fair fight.”

”My weapon is a wooden sword, so I tried to hold back… Was my sister really weaker back then?”

”Weak. That last move from Natra was, to put it mildly, monstrous.”

”Hmm… Should I be slower? But if I assume you can ‘pierce’ her, your current slash can be easily dodged, right?”

 ”Well, yeah. That’s true.”

Don’t get too happy just because you hit a warrior monk with weak defense!

The warrior monk has crazy dodging skills and can kill you in a split second with a counterattack.

Natra just used that technique to poke him in the chest earlier.

 Natra continues.

”I don’t know how much magic power Sir Kian had as a kid, but if you can only use ‘pierce’ energy, you need to aim for the neck or head to do any damage. If you hit a strong chest or a muscular stomach, she can just take the pain and counterattack. Even a 13-year-old sister could break through that, right?”

”I think she could. Sarah is a genius.”

”Then, for her, Sir Kian’s attacks will be easy to predict. If she sacrifices one arm to protect her vital spots, it will be harder for you to hit her, and they can drag it out.”

”And if she has enough time, she might use her Secret Technique ‘Thunder’ on me.”

Kian has already faced ‘Thunder’ from the girl in front of him, and he wasn’t confident he could dodge it again.

In Azrael’s arena, the only way to escape is to break the stone floor and hide underground.

”But back then, if I could hit her while she had her ‘Wall’ up, it would only be with ‘pierce.’ I need to think of a way to hit her vital spots. Maybe… I can come up with a special sword technique?”

”I think using ‘pierce’ is a mistake. Sir Kian talks like my sister will fight fair and let you attack first, but she will definitely strike first and won’t let you hit her. My sister is really fast at gathering energy. That’s why she can counter enemy techniques with her own. By the time Sir Kian gathers enough energy for one ‘pierce’, my sister will already be ready to unleash ‘Thunder’.”

”Well, before the fight starts, I can use some tricks to hide while secretly gathering magic power.”

”Tricks…? Heh, heh… typical Sir Kian. It’s a funny idea, but I think it won’t work well. But maybe, since you’re a ladies’ man, it could actually work.

 ”A ladies’ man…”

”Just saying Sir Kian’s idea is bad isn’t helpful. I have an idea too, so can you get ready?”

Natra said this while trying not to smile.

When Kian nodded and held his wooden sword, she wrapped her legs in just the right amount of magic power.

 ”Here I go!”

 ”────!”

The brown-skinned beauty opened her eyes wide and kicked off the sand.

For a warrior monk using ‘Leap’, 15 meters is just one jump.

Natra closed in on Kian in just 4 steps and swung her sword down at his wooden sword.

(Is she aiming for the weapon!?)

A warrior monk usually aims for the enemy’s arteries.

So, trying to break a weapon is rare, but what Natra did next was even more surprising.

 ”…Huff!”

 ”Whoa!?”

Natra quickly deflected Kian’s wooden sword to the left with her own wooden sword, then twisted her body and arm to the left, keeping the sword in hand.

This not only pushed Kian’s sword away but also left his arm stretched out toward her as she wrapped it up.

 His body lurched forward.

 His core wobbled.

For just a moment, Kian’s strength was completely neutralized.

As he tried to pull his upper body back using his supporting muscles, Natra let go of her wooden sword with her left hand and slid it between Kian’s wrists.
