Volume 3 Chapter 56 The One Who Weaves Wings
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Don’t get in my way, ‘glasses’!”
Jibril glared fiercely at Kian’s chest pocket and shouted.
His usually polite tone broke down here.
”If you disturb me, I’ll kill you too!”
’What? That brat can hear my voice!?’
’Glasses’ gasped in shock.
Jibril turned his back to Kian, opened his jaw wide with a snap, and swung the ‘sun magic sword’ at the white dragon gathering heat with a high-pitched sound.
”Wake up, Phoenix. That one is your enemy. Don’t leave a single piece behind.”
”Hahaha! I’ll erase you along with your soul! Die!”
The blue flames shrank, and golden light burst forth.
A fierce heat rushed toward Kian.
At such close range, this power clash will harm both Kian and Sarah.
How much of real physics does this memory world follow?
Without some cheating, Kian and Sarah would be the ones torn to pieces.
(Damn, there has to be something… something!)
’Pour your magic power into me! Hurry!’
(Got it. The old cursed sword.)
’Of course!’
’Glasses’ answered.
Magic power inside her swirled.
Looks like she was hiding a stash again.
But the memory world couldn’t handle these two huge magic powers first.
The dragon’s blue breath and the sun magic sword hit at the same time.
The blue sky above cracked sharply from the enormous heat.
Like glass breaking.
Many cracks ran across the sky, shedding blue sandy fragments, revealing the empty black space beyond.
It looked like the end of the world.
Not a metaphor──Sarah’s created memory world was starting to collapse.
With a loud crack, the sky split and the world shook violently, and the fighting spirit of Jibril and Priscilla quickly faded.
”…It seems this is the end.”
”Yeah. You dodged a bullet, Prince Jibril.”
Jibril stopped the shining of the sun magic sword, and Priscilla’s huge form slowly started to shrink.
But the world kept falling apart.
The big arena where Kian stood cracked──the stone floor and sand broke, and everything fell into a dark pit like a waterfall.
The crowd seats melted away like ice walls, crumbling and sinking down.
Soon, the place where Kian stood would be swallowed by the world’s collapse too.
Jibril turned his back to Kian and walked toward the crumbling sandy ground.
”Brother, for now, this is where I stop. Maybe we’ll meet again someday. When fate brings us back together.”
”Jibril. Who are you really?”
”I’m the one who knows you best, brother.”
The tan-skinned prince said no more, and his holy sword faded like a cloud of blood smoke.
Then a black umbrella appeared.
He opened the parasol and lightly jumped into the breaking ground.
A white ghost-like figure slowly sank into the abyss.
”Lord Kian, we’re going back to the real world.”
”Ms. Priscilla…”
The white-haired witch, wearing her normal smock and skirt, stood beside Kian.
She swung her umbrella toward Sarah, who was trapped in a birdcage.
Sarah disappeared in a flash.
”What about Sarah?”
”I sent her ahead to the forest. Let’s go back too. Hold on tight. Never let go of my arm.”
Priscilla said seriously, grabbed Kian’s arm, opened her umbrella, and waited for the ground to fall beneath them.
”────!”
”We’re flying.”
Suddenly, their footing disappeared.
Then, a full-body feeling of floating took over.
But instead of sinking into the dark, Kian was pulled up through the darkness by the witch’s arm.
”~~~~♪”
That strange, beautiful song of Priscilla echoed.
Ahead in the dark, a tiny white dot, no bigger than a needle’s point, appeared.
The real world.
The scent of river moisture and decaying leaves filled Kian’s nose.
”────”
They were returning.
To the hills behind Châtillon.
Priscilla’s shrunken body grew back to her normal adult size.
He felt that Priscilla’s arms seemed relatively thinner.
”────”
Quest complete.
* * *
Before he knew it, Kian was standing in a narrow gap in the cliff, with morning sunlight streaming in.
The cheerful chirping of little birds mixed with the loud sound of rushing water.
Next to him, Priscilla held his hand tightly, looking serious.
The Witch was back in her black Witch outfit.
She held a black umbrella firmly in her hand.
”Ms. Priscilla, are you okay?”
”I’m fine. Let’s move on to stabilizing the soul.”
”Right, what about Sarah?”
Priscilla let go of Kian’s hand and turned to look behind her.
There, a beautiful woman with shoulder-length black hair and brown skin lay helplessly.
The white-haired Witch knelt beside her and turned her onto her back.
Then she placed her hand on the woman’s forehead and closed her eyes.
She was probably using a spell.
(Sarah…!)
Kian stepped closer, his eyes widening as he looked at the unconscious beauty.
It was a familiar face.
She looked a lot like Natra, but her eyebrows were softer, forming a gentle curve.
Her lips seemed to have a slight smile, giving her a friendly vibe.
The shadow of Sarah in his memory was strong.
But she had grown into a beautiful woman.
Her body was bigger, and her face looked more mature overall.
She used to be cute, but now her beauty stood out first.
She looked like a true beauty.
Her black hair was wet, as if she had just swum in the river, sticking to her smooth forehead.
She wore black apostle gear, with a big burn hole in her stomach area.
Through the hole, her toned waist and abs were visible, making Kian look away in surprise.
Her lower belly──right near her groin──was also visible, and it seemed like a thick bush was growing there, making him feel a bit flustered.
Yes, she should be 27 now.
That girl who was so innocent back then had grown up enough to have pubic hair──.
(But this was not the time for such stupid thoughts.)
’Are you nervous, or are you confused?’
(Probably both.)
Kian replied to ‘glasses’ and then crouched down behind Priscilla.
”Lord Kian, be careful. Don’t touch the black shards scattered there.”
”Shards? Is this what you mean?”
He pointed to 3 metal pieces stuck between the river stones.
They looked like the hilt, blade, and tip of a sword.
(A sword… I see, given the situation, Sarah must have ambushed Oswald and got caught.)
”It’s a ‘Venomous Blade.’ Oswald said it was a deadly poison weapon he lost. He asked Guy to find it, but Guy couldn’t. I can’t believe it was with her all along. Lord Kian, since you’re like me and not fully human, it might not affect you much, but still, don’t touch it.”
”Holding onto a weapon until the end… That’s so like Sarah.”
”No. That weapon probably just followed her.”
”Huh?”
Priscilla let go of Sarah and nodded, saying, “Okay, for now, that’s fine.”
The white-haired witch looked up at Kian with a serious face and said,
”This is probably why Lord Jibril interfered. He moved part of himself into a weapon to act on its own.”
”――――.”
”To split a part of oneself and seal it in a magic tool──it’s a lost advanced magic. I don’t know where the prince learned such a technique, but it seems he did this to the weapon given to Lady Sarah.”
Priscilla continued, still frowning.
”Lord Kian, Prince Jibril used my ‘Parasol of the Night Queen’ and Oswald’s ‘Holy Sword of the Sun’ in the world of memories. But these are divine weapons that choose their users. You have to defeat the user and prove your worth to touch them. Yet, the parasol and holy sword Jibril used looked real to me. What does this mean?”
