Rising Monk V3c64

Volume 3 Chapter 64 A Toast To A New Start

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”What’s wrong, Sarah? You look spaced out.”

 ”Huh?”

The faint morning light filtered into the dining area where Sarah was absently staring at her portion of red fish in a silver dish.

Startled by the sudden voice, she snapped back to reality.

Looking up from her plate, she saw Kian sending her a calm gaze from across the table.

Next to him, Natra was silently eating her fish with knife and fork.

Sarah intertwined her fingers through the sleek black strands of her hair and opened her mouth.

”Ah… it’s nothing. This fish smells good. It looks delicious.”

”I used spices bought from the harbor. I’m glad you like it. It was worth getting up early to make it for you.”

Kian said smoothly with a relaxed smile, but Sarah knew there was a lie in his words.

 He──or rather, they──hadn’t slept a wink.

He had been engaged in intimate activities all night long.

The previous afternoon, past ten o’clock, Sarah had wanted to talk to Kian again and had sneaked into his room on the second floor.

But there was already a guest in the room, and from inside came the sounds of a woman’s suppressed gasps and a man’s rugged breathing, along with the creaking of the bed.

Peeking in quietly, she saw the Dark Elf, who until recently was the head magician of the Nakash household, straddling a young man and embracing him tightly.

It was immediately clear what they were doing.

She had never felt more like an intruder.

They had that kind of relationship, and she should have realized earlier that such things would happen at night.

 ”……”

As Sarah used her knife and fork to flake apart the fish, she remembered the sight of Kian and Rufna entwined like octopuses the previous night.

Rufna’s back, which seemed to have a comfortable embrace, was adorned with loose silver hair that waved like a mantle.

Beneath it, the muscular arm of a man was faintly visible.

From the entrance of the room, their heads were close together, and their backs were turned, so she couldn’t see the insertion directly.

However, Rufna was gently swaying her hips, and Kian was occasionally thrusting up from below.

Their bodies, locked in an embrace, shook slightly and sometimes bounced boldly.

Kian’s member seemed to be doing quite well, as Rufna, who was breathing heavily, couldn’t help but let out sounds like “Ahh” and “Nnngh” every time he thrust into her, like a newlywed lost in pleasure.

 That Rufna.

Unlike Sarah and Natra, who rarely slept with men on missions, Rufna often did, and during normal times, she showed almost no interest in anything sexual.

 It was shocking.

Rufna was capable and strong-willed, and because she knew all about the dirty sides of men, she never seemed to be attracted to the opposite sex.

”Anyone want some juice? Raise your hand!”

Without knowing Sarah’s troubles, the Dark Elf Head Magician, who had been wild like a monkey last night, came out from the kitchen.

She had a glass bowl in her hands.

 Inside was a clear syrup.

It was a drink concentrate flavored and scented with lemon, cinnamon, clove, and cardamom, made from sugar extracted from a plant called stevia.

Before Rufna became the Head Magician, she used to make this regularly for Nakash’s head servant.

 ”Rufna, pour me some.”

 ”Sure, sure.”

Kian called out casually, and Rufna eagerly walked over to him.

There was nothing in their interaction that suggested a romantic relationship.

Kian simply said “Thank you,” and Rufna replied with “You’re welcome,” giving a wink.

There were no natural glances or light touches at all.

(How am I supposed to notice this…)

 Sarah felt her mood darkening.

After learning about their relationship, it was hard not to think they were avoiding too much contact to not raise suspicion, but if they acted like that all the time, it would create distrust and hinder building relationships with others.

 She couldn’t notice.

To her, they only looked like a master and servant.

But what would happen if a man could control a woman completely? It was something one could think of calmly.

(So, could it be Natra too?)

 ”Is something wrong, Lady Sarah?”

She looked up to see a different person with her sister’s face──Natra.

Natra wore a clean, off-shoulder shirt and shorts.

Small knives and chemicals were attached to her suspenders, giving her the look of a pure and righteous female warrior.

 Sarah quickly shook her head.

 ”N-no, it’s nothing…”

 ”I see.”

Natra looked younger than her age, and even Kian wouldn’t dare to make a move on her.

She also wouldn’t respond to such advances.

Even though she was a different person, Sarah was confident that Natra had the same personality she knew.

Natra preferred training and studying over enjoying romance with the opposite sex.

She probably saw marriage as just a woman’s duty.

Even if they talked equally at work, if someone brought up romance, saying, “You were chatting nicely with Mr. ○○,” Natra would always respond coldly.

As a girl with a high level of education, she couldn’t feel those emotions unless the man was someone she could respect as a person first.

It was completely different from how other girls in their late teens fell in love impulsively.

She would evaluate a man before even thinking about romance.

This attitude was clear to the men, and they would feel jealousy towards talented Natra, losing confidence and drifting away on their own.

That was Natra Nakash’s ‘private life.’

In other words, just like me (Sarah), a future candidate for being single forever.

(It’s terrible to judge my sister like this…)

She gazed distantly at the rising water level in Kian’s glass.

She thought that maybe this would clear her strange feelings away.

 ”────”

After pouring a third of syrup into the glass with a spoon, the ice-cold sparkling water fizzed as it was added.

A sweet and sour──refreshing aroma filled the room.

It was a scene full of coolness just to look at, but what bubbled up in her mind was something completely opposite.

 (This smell)

It felt like the odor that filled Kian’s bedroom yesterday.

It was thick with sweat and breath, but it was pretty much the same kind of smell.

 No doubt about it.

In fact, it was similar to the scent of a woman’s clean parts, who bathes every day.

 The reference was herself…

(I see. Of the two smells that lingered in the room yesterday, the one like chestnut flowers was Kian’s, and the sour smell was Rufna’s.)

 ”────!”

(What am I thinking! Worrying about my smell and Rufna’s smell… I must be losing it!)

She quickly shook her head to clear her thoughts.

Even though she witnessed something shocking yesterday, being this flustered showed she needed more training.

 Stay calm, stay calm.

Kill your emotions and always be graceful──this was one of the Nakash family rules.

Just as Sarah managed to calm her racing heart, Rufna, who had just finished pouring juice into Natra’s glass, came over to her.
