Volume 3 Chapter 79 We’ll Need A Way To Get Around, Right? II
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”Ms. Priscilla, what are you doing here?”
The bonfire goes *CRACKLE*, happy.
In front of a tall warehouse, maybe 6 meters high, Kian stares at the white-haired Witch with eyes like ice.
”Here? You look so serious, and you ask the obvious.”
Priscilla takes off her pointy hat and smiles sadly.
”This is my warehouse. I own everything from that one, about 3 meters tall, to the one over there that’s a bit broken. Oh, and everything from that one to the fence is papa’s.”
”So, you poisoned us, and then ran to your safe place. But you don’t think you’ll get away with this, right?”
”Hmm? Poison? What are you talking about?”
”Are you trying to play dumb now?”
”Wait, wait, I really don’t get it. Tell me from the start, what happened?”
”────”
She doesn’t look scared, but she’s smiling to hide the lie.
This Witch isn’t sorry at all.
She’s totally looking down on them.
”I’m serious. Ms. Priscilla, when Her Excellency wakes up, everything will come out. I’m telling you to turn yourself in.”
”I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s annoying when you say things like that.”
”Save your excuses for Her Excellency. Ms. Lucretia, can you restrain her?”
”Y-yes! Please!”
”EHH!? Wait! Really, wait!”
Natra pulls out her magic sword, and Kian’s magic power burns. Then Priscilla finally changes her face.
Even the Witch can’t do anything against simple violence.
She waves her hands around like she’s freaking out.
”If you’re gonna tie me up, show me proof that I poisoned you! I need it within 5 minutes! I can’t be stuck with fake evidence after 5 hours!”
”Just come here.”
Kian, with his ‘glasses’ glinting, reaches out.
Priscilla jumps back, and the soldier made of dragon bones she was working on steps in between them.
But, in front of Kian, who had evolved body abilities, that was hardly a threat.
With a single punch, he shatters the familiar and rushes toward Priscilla.
The white-haired witch points her umbrella at Kian, but the black puddle at her feet and the undead arms can’t stop him.
Instead, the moment they touched his armor, they were absorbed into him and vanished into dust.
A vampire’s special ability.
It’s magic absorption.
For a magician like Priscilla, there’s no worse match than Kian when he’s awake.
”Ah…!”
Priscilla, whose necromancy has been broken, collapses to her knees.
He grabs her arm, forcing her up and shoving her against the warehouse wall.
”Hyaa!?”
”Ms. Priscilla. We’re running out of time. Can you stop messing around?”
He roughly presses his other hand against her ear.
Kian, with his ‘glasses’ D-sadistic glare, looks down at the white-haired witch like garbage.
”Uhh, Kian, is that you…?”
”L-Lord Kian!?”
”Ms. Lucretia, please leave this to me.”
He tightens his grip on Priscilla’s arm.
He brings the hand that was against the wall to her softly curved chin, tilting it up so she can’t look away.
Priscilla’s pale pink lips part with a shaky breath.
A nice citrus scent fills the air.
”Ms. Priscilla.”
”Y-yes… w-what is it? Hehe.”
”That’s not ‘eh heh’. No matter what, Her Excellency is sure you did it. You have to go to the old Oswald mansion first. Explain yourself to Her Excellency Maribel there.”
”You’re dragging me away without even listening!? Is Izerland a country of barbarians!?”
”I’m a little wilder than Ms. Lucretia, you see. Kukuku, what do you think? You can’t do anything against a muscle-brain who won’t listen, right?”
”You, you’re calling yourself a muscle-brain…”
”Kitsune, shut that Witch’s mouth. Take her umbrella too.”
”Yes, sir.”
”W-wait!”
Priscilla’s scream echoes through the warehouse street.
Kian clicks his tongue, thinking Renaud must have heard it, when suddenly, ripples from Christy’s teleportation gate come from the direction of the large waterway.
It seems Maribel is here.
If she uses a teleportation gate, Renaud will definitely notice and barge in.
Natra, Rufna, and Sarah seem to have noticed too, and start to watch out for Renaud’s attack.
(There’s no change in Renaud’s barrier. I can’t feel his strong magic power waves. ──But, he could break through the barrier and jump out here at any moment. This is a very dangerous situation.)
’This is a warehouse street. There won’t be a sudden fight. If the stored goods burn, the damage will be huge. Even that barbarian should understand that much.’
(I hope so…)
Many people’s presences gather behind Kian, who is gnashing his teeth.
Renaud’s guard shouted, “Your Excellency, we’re in trouble!” Just then, Maribel’s unyielding voice cut through the air, commanding, “Be silent.”
Hearing Maribel say ‘shut up’ made him question his own ears.
It was a lofty and cold voice he’d never heard before.
Lucretia lifted her face.
”────? What’s all the commotion over by the bridge…?”
”Looks like the princess has awakened.”
”Ms. Lucretia, be careful.”
Sarah grabbed the Witch with the glasses by the shoulder and made her crouch down.
”Lord Renaud might come flying over, so stay away from Kian and Ms. Priscilla.”
”Wha…!?”
”Priscilla! ──Good morning, Priscilla!!”
”Nn~~! Nnnd~~! Nnmo~~!”
”…Kitsune, untie Ms. Priscilla’s monkey cuffs.”
Kian said, releasing the Witch’s hand.
Natra roughly tore the white cloth from Priscilla’s mouth and dragged her away from the flames. She still held the ‘Parasol of the Night Queen’ in her left hand, which was in spirit form.
It seemed that magic tool couldn’t be touched in its physical state.
From the other side of the alleyway in the warehouse town, Maribel approached, breathing heavily, dressed simply in a neglige and a gown.
Behind her were Christy, 2 unknown Witches, a tiger Beastman named Gao, and 5 cat Beastmen guards.
Gao’s 5 Beastmen, despite being at the rear, didn’t seem physically outmatched by Renaud’s guards.
They were nothing like most Adventurers ── their muscles were built for combat.
Stopping right in front of Kian, Maribel’s dark blue eyes devoid of emotion, she asked,
”Good morning, Priscilla. Are you preparing to run away at night?”
Priscilla, prodded by Natra, offered a sly and ambiguous smile.
”Ah, good evening… no, wait. It’s already morning. Good morning, Your Excellency. You’re quite the early riser, huh?”
”Yes, thanks to you. So? Do you have anything to admit? You’re not planning to throw a fit and demand evidence, are you?”
”I might actually do that.”
”Guard, tie this Witch up with a silver chain. I am issuing the Margrave’s emergency order. Capture her and interrogate her about her crimes.”
”What!?”
”Do it.”
”Haha, wasn’t it better for you to get caught? Weren’t you kinda glad?”
The white-haired Witch’s smile freezes as he whispers thickly to her.
Priscilla glares sharply at Kian, her eyes a little teary, and puffed cheeks all cute and pouty.
”I did it thinking of Lord Kian! Isn’t that just cruel? Do something about it, Lord Kian!”
