Volume 3 Chapter 84 Joint Battle (Moment)

 ”────”

The magician had brown tears trailing down his dry, parched cheeks.

One of his eyes was fixed on Kian, while the other stared at 2 of his comrades sprawled in a patch of yellow flowers.

 (What a mess)

The blade wanders through the void.

But it wouldn’t be good to make him suffer any longer.

Kian raised his wind magic sword high.

 ’Kian!’

 ”────!”

But just before he could behead the man, he sensed a searing mass coming from above and leaped back.

When he landed beside the flowerbed──where Guillaume’s bodies lay strewn about──he saw a fire-wrapped dragonewt crush the magician beneath its feet.

The soil of the flowerbed exploded, sending dirt flying.

A horrible stench of burnt flesh filled the air.

”Oh dear, Master Knight. Struggling against such weaklings, I wonder if your training is lacking?”

 ”…Lord Renaud…”

 ”Kukukukukuku”

A large bipedal dragon figure──small in stature but still about 3 meters tall──slowly rose from the crater.

The magician’s corpse was blasted apart, with only a few meaty chunks grotesquely stuck to a cycad trunk.

Oswald’s tropical flowerbed, crafted with a fortune, had small flames popping up from various places.

 Kian’s eyes widened.

Nearby, a charred gorilla corpse lay crumbled, its upper body reduced to ash.

(That vampire was taken down in such a short time!)

’That’s why they’re not Burgkain. They can’t use the Restoration Curse. Although their physical abilities and magical power seemed superior, fighting that barbarian without the trait of being hard to kill is impossible.’

Renaud faced Kian, raising his shield and resting a hammer on his right shoulder.

A small flame began to leak from the mouth of the toothy lizard, as if reflecting his excitement.

”Looks like the battle is still going on down in the plaza? Since we’ve got time until the princess returns, how about having a go with me?”

”Are you out of your mind? Fighting among allies is forbidden by Izerland’s laws.”

”No, this is a duel for honor!”

A strong, red tail slammed against the stone floor.

White stone shattered and flew everywhere.

 ”Lord Renaud!? This is bad!”

”Shut up! If you interfere, I’ll punish you first! How about I roast your butt with fire, huh?”

 ”Eep!?”

The guards behind, readying their crossbows, stepped back.

 ”Kukuku. Now then…”

’Kian, pour magic power into this one. I’ll lend you my weapons.’

(No way. If I fight this guy here, Izerland’s government will be wrecked beyond repair.)

’Are you kidding me! Just hurry up!’

Kian shook his head and glared at Renaud.

”I can’t agree unless you put Ms. Priscilla on the line.”

”I have no intention of betting my daughter. Don’t worry, if you refuse, I’ll force you to agree.”

”Then it’ll just turn into a private fight. Please reconsider your words.”

”You can’t face me without your little talisman? Master Knight, you’re a coward.”

”──What the hell? What are you guys doing? Hey, old man Renaud!”

Gao returned from cleaning up the side.

Renaud shot a glare with his yellow eyes.

”Tiger boy. You carry that dead black monkey to the Witch. I’ll have a discussion with the honorable Lord Kian. My way.”

 ”Huh? What are you saying──”

He was about to say something.

But Gao never got to finish his line.

In the fading light, several guards standing around, including him, suddenly flew through the air like a bad joke.

Kian thought for a moment that Renaud did it, but the dragonewt lord hadn’t moved from his spot.

 ”You…!”

 Renaud no longer faced Kian.

He was staring at the headless vampire body slowly rising from among the guards.

 ”Oh noooo!”

 ”Eep! The corpse, the corpse!”

 ”It moved!”

 ”Captain Gao! Stay strong!”

Thick, hairy, super muscular arms waving around touch the air everywhere.

Looks like he’s searching for the lost head of his.

 (What is that?)

’Inside the body. The main part is in the neck bone.’

 ’Glasses’ points out calmly.

Quick glance, and sure enough, green vine plants peek out from the charred, torn flesh near the heart.

Renaud’s eyes bulge, and he roars.

”You! Even though I killed you, don’t get up again!”

”I’ve heard you’re a gourmet, but it looks like Lord Renaud slipped up on the cooking. That’s half-cooked.”

”Shut up! I can’t understand how you call that half-raw! Everyone back off! Get out of the way!”

 ”Hack… damn it…”

Gao, which had rolled to Kian’s feet, is vomiting blood.

His arms and side ribs are torn open, blood pouring out in a pale stream.

For normal people, this would be instant death──serious injury.

Kian and Renaud push past the panicking guards and head toward the salon.

But before they could attack, the hairy body seemed to have found a new head.

It grabbed a nearby guard’s head and brought it closer.

Then, 2 thorny tentacles grew out of its chest and stabbed into the severed part of the guard’s neck.

Since the chest was torn open, his face looked buried in ribs, but the monster didn’t seem to mind a little mismatch.

The once-dead guard’s face starts moving again.

 ”Ah, aaaaaghhh!!!”

He wraps his thick arms around his own body, drooling and howling fiercely.

 His center of gravity drops.

His thighs throb and swell to more than twice their size with a cracking sound.

Then he leaps with force toward the main building of the old Oswald estate.

 ”Tch.”

 ”I won’t let you go…!”

He quickly crouches, preparing for a follow-up strike, but the vampire body already lands on the roof of the third floor of the old Oswald estate.

With powerful kicks, he crushes the elegant brick roof and jumps again into the air.

(Is this crazy strength in the heat of the moment? Damn, I can’t keep up with that.)

 ”Not yet! OOOOOOHHH!”

 ”────!!”

He feels wind behind his head.

Without even turning around, Kian understands Renaud’s thick tail has swung.

If he doesn’t dodge, his head will be smashed clean off.

Kian leaped up in an instant, planting both feet firmly on Renaud’s tail──.

 ”Hah──”

 It’s either victory or defeat.

Kian, having leaped up, softly stepped down with his ‘Silver Ice’ boots on the enlarged red muscle whip.

The hard sensation against the sole of his boots made him think his face might twist in agony as his body rapidly accelerated.

Thanks to Renaud’s unprecedented strength, his body was launched into the air in a single leap.

 ”Raaaaaagh!”

’This barbarian is really going to cause some chaos…!’

 (But this is good!)

The scenery flowed by at a speed so fast he couldn’t keep his eyes open.

His field of vision became comically high, with the roof of the Oswald mansion looming right in front of him.
