Chapter 232 Yamato Hina and the Demon King Medinilla ㉛
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
I watched the back of Water Demon General Tsunami as we climbed the stairs, one step at a time. The way she walked, her spine perfectly straight, was the very picture of a professional maid.
Well, aside from the crushing aura she emitted.
Regardless, she had a remarkably well-proportioned physique. She stood about as tall as Lil, her glossy black hair reached down to her waist, and her chest was prominent enough to be assertive even through her uniform. Despite wearing high heels, she maintained a natural, effortless gait without ever losing her posture. That alone told me she was a force to be reckoned with.
Yukiko and I walked behind Tsunami with composed steps. Honoka, Yamato, and the others followed several paces behind us.
”Regarding the matter of the Gluttony Dragon…” Tsunami said, speaking without even turning to look at us.
”Something wrong? Was it a problem that we defeated it?” I asked.
”No, quite the opposite. That creature was a threat even to us demons. On behalf of Medinilla-sama, I offer you my thanks,” Tsunami replied.
”You say that, but you’re clearly stronger than that dragon yourself,” I said.
”I am the attendant to Medinilla-sama; I cannot leave her side. Besides, the other Demon Generals wouldn’t have been able to hold a candle to it. Blizzard, especially.”
Was she taking a dig at Blizzard? Come to think of it, Bolgano also mentioned that Blizzard was the weakest among the Six Demon Generals.
”By the way,” Tsunami continued, “where do you all hail from? Surely you haven’t been living in the Demon King’s territory all this time.”
”Honoka and I… and the girl in the erotic maid outfit, the one in the bodysuit, the one with the dog ears, and the girl with white hair and red eyes—we’re from Greedia. The others are from Envyos,” I explained.
”Greedia, is it…”
Tsunami’s atmosphere shifted. The air that had been tense with her aura suddenly slackened. It was as if she were reminiscing… yes, like she was reaching back into a memory from the distant past.
”You may listen and dismiss this as the mere ramblings of a delusional demon,” Tsunami prefaced, her voice becoming detached. “I have memories of a previous life. In that life, I was a human male, and I came from a different world entirely. I was what is commonly called a Hero. My name was…”
She paused for a beat before announcing her former name.
”Souichiro Tsunami.”
That was a name I had heard at the Adventurer’s Guild. He was one of the founders of Greedia, a man buried in the depths of history.
”In my previous life, I used the fame of a Hero to build the nation of Greedia. I established the foundation of the system, and as soon as it was rock-solid, I abandoned my status. I lived out the rest of my days as an ordinary citizen until I passed away. Then, I was literally reborn into this body. It was because of the Rinne Tenshou² skill, which only activates upon death.”
I was speechless. At the very least, it didn’t feel like a lie. In this world, where some people live over five hundred years because of a skill, a Unique Skill like that wasn’t impossible.
”I see. If that’s true, there’s one thing I’m curious about,” I said. “Souichiro Tsunami was the man credited with slaying the Demon King of that era. But that Demon King is still alive. How do you explain that?”
”So you know that Medinilla-sama is the Demon King from two generations ago,” Tsunami said. “I won’t ask where you heard it. The reason is simple: we got our stories straight. In my previous life, I also harbored doubts about the Goddess Aurelia. Above all, the hostility humans felt toward demons was abnormal. My friends at the time were obsessed with the idea that ‘demons must be slain.’ And more than anything… Medinilla-sama was just so cute.”
Wow. Hearing that last part really brought the conversation back down to earth. Basically, Souichiro Tsunami had a crush on the Demon King. But it seemed he—or she, now—lacked the typical hostility toward demons, just like me. It’s likely the Seven Deadly Sins³ skill, much like the ‘Reincarnation’ skill, prevents that kind of mental manipulation.
Yamato and Ise looked completely baffled by Tsunami’s story. I left them to their confusion and leaned toward Mashiro. I had a hunch.
”Mashiro, could you look up Souichiro Tsunami with your skill?” I whispered.
”I can, but what are you looking for?” Mashiro asked.
”He’s like us. He doesn’t see demons as the enemy. I want to know why.”
”I see… Got it. I’ll check.”
Having vaguely guessed my intent, Mashiro searched using her Philosopher’s Stone⁴. Yamato and Ise probably felt the distance between Mashiro and me was uncomfortably close, but a massive rift had already formed between them and her since we entered the Demon King’s territory. It was too late for them to complain now.
”…Sieben, it’s just as you thought,” Mashiro whispered. “There isn’t a single record of Souichiro Tsunami’s actual achievements. There’s nothing about his dealings with the Demon King. For that matter, there’s absolutely no mention of a ‘Water Demon General Tsunami.’ As for Medinilla… she’s only listed as the Demon King from two hundred years ago. There’s no record of her being alive today.”
As expected, they were off the grid. That might actually make things easier for me, though I shouldn’t be overconfident before meeting her.
”We have arrived,” Tsunami announced. “From here, you must proceed on your own. I do not know what you intend to do… but I wish you luck in battle.”
Before I knew it, we were standing before the massive doors leading to the throne room. Tsunami stepped aside, gesturing for us to enter.
Luck in battle, huh? I couldn’t help but smirk.
I gave Tsunami a quick nod and placed my hand on the giant double doors. Despite their heavy, imposing appearance, they swung open with surprising ease. We stepped inside. The throne sat high above our field of vision, and there, looking exactly as she did in Yamihama’s memories, sat the Demon King Medinilla with her legs crossed.
”Welcome, humans. I am the Demon King, Medinilla. Though I suppose I can’t exactly give you a warm welcome noja.”
Except for the color of her hair and eyes, the loli Demon King looked remarkably like Tsunami. She gave us a fearless, wicked smile.

Summary:
Sieben and his group are led to the throne room by Tsunami, who reveals she is a reincarnated Hero from Earth who once founded Greedia. She explains that she faked the Demon King’s death because she found Medinilla ‘cute’ and realized the humans’ hatred was abnormal. The chapter concludes with Sieben finally meeting the current (and former) loli Demon King, Medinilla.
