Chapter 267 Goddess Aurelia ⑮
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Nagase Emi could not shake the gnawing unease in her gut. Though she had feigned a calm mask for Maugo, the sheer scale of the army Greedia had managed to field left her shaken. While Maugo and the other soldiers rode on a wave of blind optimism, she couldn’t silence the alarm bells ringing in her head. Those instincts were proven right the moment the charge began.
At Maugo’s command, the cavalry roared forward in a coordinated surge. Across the field, the Greedia forces remained eerily still. They didn’t even flinch as the gap closed. Then, with only a few dozen yards to go, the lead horses suddenly buckled, their legs snapping as they tumbled head-over-tail into the dirt.
”What the—!?”
”Gwah!?”
”What’s happening!?”
Chaos ripped through the ranks as riders collided with their fallen comrades. Hidden beneath the thicket were green-painted tripwires¹, expertly camouflaged to vanish against the meadow. But the traps didn’t stop at ropes.
”Arggh!”
”Pits! There are pits everywhere!”
The waist-high grass hid deep pitfalls that made a reckless charge impossible. Had they approached with any measure of caution, they might have spotted the disturbed earth, but in their frantic rush to glory, the soldiers of Plaudix had walked straight into a slaughterhouse.
”Cowards! Have you no honor!?” one Knight bellowed in a rage. If Natsumi had heard him, he likely would have laughed. (Who gives a damn about ‘honor’ in a war?)
Even with their momentum shattered, the army didn’t break. As men continued to trip and fall, the survivors scrambled over the bodies of the fallen, desperate to draw blood.
”Ready! Aim! Fire!”
A volley of massive, black bolts erupted from the Greedia lines. These weren’t arrows; they were siege-grade projectiles that punched through heavy plate as if it were parchment, skewering three or four men at a time.
”B-B-Ballistas²!?”
The Black Knights in the vanguard were wielding the massive crossbows by hand-weapons usually bolted to castle battlements. It was a physical impossibility, yet they stood there, reloading with mechanical precision.
”B-but the reload time! It should take minutes! Before they can—”
”Reload! Second volley! Fire!”
”No! Gyaaah!”
The oversized bolts turned the Knights into literal piles of meat. Those lucky enough to survive the initial impact were left with mangled stumps where limbs had been, the kind of wounds that guaranteed a slow, agonizing death on a field with no healers.
As the Plaudix survivors finally closed the distance, the Black Knights discarded the heavy ballistas and drew their melee weapons. The blades were strange, heavy things-thick like a broadsword but curved like a scimitar, with jagged, fang-like serrations along the back edge. They weren’t just swords; they were meat saws.
When the Black Knights swung, they cleaved through man and horse alike. Shields were split down the middle; swords were snapped like dry twigs. For the Plaudix troops, it wasn’t a fight; it was an encounter with the impossible.
Yet, they managed to draw blood. A few desperate soldiers found gaps in the black armor, delivering what should have been fatal thrusts. But as the Black Knights fell, their abdomens swelled and ruptured with a sickening pop. Instead of blood, a caustic, yellowish fluid sprayed the attackers. Those caught in the mist collapsed instantly, their lungs seizing as they clawed at their throats until they went still.
In nature, there are exploding ants that self-destruct to take their enemies with them. Unbeknownst to the people of Plaudix, these Black Knights were originally Killer Army Ants³. Unlike the common ants of Earth, these monsters built subterranean fortresses and possessed the strength of giants, the venom of hornets, and a biological drive to self-destruct when cornered. They were living bombs.
Above the carnage, the sky began to fall. Ten-kilogram stones rained down from the clouds, crushing helmets and skulls with the force of falling meteors. High above, a unit of winged women in yellow-and-black light armor hovered-the aerial division led by Mitsuba. Within an hour, the once-proud army of Plaudix was a broken, retreating mass of terrified men.
Just as the slaughter seemed absolute, a searing white light lanced down from the heavens. It was the light of ‘Sentence’⁴-a divine judgment meant to purge the wicked.
”Uwaaaaaah!”
”Make it stop!”
”Kyaaaaaaaah!”
The radiance slammed into the Black Knights and the winged soldiers alike, knocking them from the sky and pinning them to the earth.
”Hmph. I should have just done this from the start,” Jinno Yuto muttered, looking over the scorched earth with a look of pure disgust. He hated that he’d let Maugo’s arrogance dictate the pace, but he’d held back his power just enough to incapacitate the enemy without killing them.
”I kept the output non-lethal,” Jinno said. “Is that what you wanted?”
”Yes,” Nagase replied. “The men need to feel like they’ve won something, or their morale will never recover.”
Jinno stared toward the Greedia main line. They were still standing. He had seen his ‘Sentence’ ripple against an invisible barrier. Before he could strike again, a command echoed across the field.
”All units, fall back! I’ll handle the rearguard!”
The Greedia retreat was a masterclass in discipline. They moved with a speed that left the crippled Plaudix forces in the dust. Standing alone to cover their exit was Sasaki Natsumi-the traitor, the former friend.
”The coward is actually staying behind? Fine. I’ll end him here—”
”Stop,” Nagase ordered, grabbing Jinno’s arm. “We have to regroup. Now.”
Jinno hesitated, but one look from his former teacher was enough to make him stand down. Natsumi, seeing there would be no pursuit, turned on his heel and followed his army, leaving his downed soldiers scattered across the grass.
”Tch. Scum,” Jinno spat. “He just leaves his own people to rot? Figures.”
But as the surviving Plaudix soldiers crawled toward the immobilized Greedia troops, their anger turned into something far more sinister.
”Damn them… they killed my brothers!”
”I’m gonna gut ’em!”
”Wait… look at this one. Hey, take the helmet off. I bet it’s some ugly… holy hell.”
As the helmets came off, the “monsters” were revealed to be women of breathtaking beauty-faces that would have cost a fortune in any city brothel. The winged girls from the sky were the same: stunning, curvaceous, and currently helpless. The soldiers’ breath hitched.
”Ugh… uuu…”
”Mmm…”
As the unconscious women moaned, the rage in the soldiers’ eyes shifted into a dark, predatory hunger.
”Hey… it’d be a waste to just kill ’em, right?”
”Yeah. A real waste.”
”Let’s take ’em back. All of ’em. We could use some new toys.”
”Exactly! They aren’t soldiers anymore. They’re just meat.”
Lured by the promise of flesh, the Plaudix survivors began hauling the beautiful “prisoners” away.
They had no idea they were walking right into Natsumi’s real trap.

Summary:
The Plaudix army attempts a frontal assault on Greedia but is devastated by traps and hand-held ballistas. Jinno Yuto intervenes with a powerful AOE spell that incapacitates Greedia’s unique biological units. The chapter ends with Plaudix soldiers capturing the defeated female soldiers, unaware they are walking into a secondary trap.
—
Trivia:
- The tripwires were painted green specifically to counter the high grass of the plains.
- The Black Knights are actually a monstrous species called Killer Army Ants, not humans in armor.
- The aerial unit led by Mitsuba consists of demi-humans with bee-like physical traits.
- Jinno deliberately held back the lethality of his ‘Sentence’ spell to satisfy the soldiers’ bloodlust.
- An invisible barrier protected the Greedia main command from the divine light

Character Insight:
Natsumi shows a ruthless willingness to use his own troops as ‘bait’ to lure the enemy into a moral and physical trap. Jinno continues to struggle with his ego, feeling superior for his magical power while being manipulated by Nagase’s pragmatic strategy.
—
Behind the Scenes:
The author uses the ‘Killer Army Ant’ concept to subvert the expectation of a standard fantasy knight battle, blending biological horror with traditional siege warfare.

TL Notes:
Notes:
• Nagase – Nagase Emi. A 23-year-old teacher. Height 159 cm, B-W-H: 85-56-83. She looks younger than her real age. She is popular with students because she acts nice, but she is actually a trash teacher who was the first to bully Natsumi Sasaki.
• Maugo – The King of Plaudix, a stout middle‑aged ruler with a white beard, is overweight, gluttonous and arrogant. As commander he boasts overconfidence and ignores Greedia’s threat. He is Mariana’s biological father and first abuser, treating his daughter and female soldiers as tools for his pleasure.
• Emi – Nagase Emi, 23, 159 cm tall with a youthful appearance and measurements 85-56-83, is the only adult among the summoned Heroes and a former teacher of the protagonists from their original world. Once admired for her kind demeanor, she secretly bullied Natsumi Sasaki but now serves as a cautious, observant strategist for the Plaudix army, maintaining a facade of loyalty to King Maugo while secretly prioritizing the safety of the other Heroes. A former classmate of the protagonist, she leads alongside the Knight Commander, blending quiet intelligence with hidden resolve.
• Natsumi – Standing 168‑171 cm, 57‑59 kg, he has a baby‑faced look hidden by bangs. Once bullied by the Sugita gang for a feminine name, he was meant to die but was resurrected with white wings and an unknown power, now overwhelming the Demon King. A former Hero, now the Demon King and Enemy of God, he leads Greedia’s forces — tactical, manipulative, a silent‑armored demigod and traitor to humanity, former classmate of the others.
• Mitsuba – 142 cm tall, honey‑bee‑styled Mushi‑jin with honey‑blonde curly shoulder‑length hair, deep‑blue compound eyes, two antennae, four translucent wings, and a yellow‑black striped abdomen. She bears a tanuki face, large drooping eyes, a melon‑breasted, child‑bearing, busty figure that defies her short height. Now leader of the Greedia aerial unit, she wears yellow‑black striped light armor, heads the Aerial Corps, and is a lonely, clingy Kin of the King—softer than Kuroa, more persistent than Suzu.
• Jinno – Jinno Yuto, once a polished class president with short black hair, crisp uniform and sharp eyes, now a Hero wielding the Judgment skill. He silently ignored Natsumi Sasaki’s bullying, yet harbors deep resentment toward her, romantic feelings for Nagase, and high‑tier magic including the Sentence skill.
• Yuto – The class president. He acts like he has a strong sense of justice, but in reality, he just ignored the bullying of Natsumi Sasaki. He has a tall, athletic build and a serious expression.
• Sasaki Natsumi – The protagonist standing at 168–171 cm tall and weighing 57–59 kg, with a baby‑faced appearance that he conceals behind his bangs; once bullied by the Sugita gang because his name sounded feminine, he was destined to be the first to die but was resurrected with white wings and an unknown power, now overwhelming the Demon King.
• Sasaki – The protagonist, 168–171 cm and 57–59 kg, with a baby face hidden by black bangs. Once bullied and thought dead by the Sugita gang, he now fights as the gladiator Seven. Wielder of Snatch and Time Compression, he’s the hidden source of many curses and a shapeshifter. Dressed in green scale armor with a blood‑red muffler, he wields dual longswords.
