Chapter 279 Jinno Yuto ①
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
”You’ve certainly got a lot of nerve showing your face here, you traitor,” Jinno said.
”Traitor, huh? Maybe so. But tell me-weren’t you the ones who turned your backs on me first?” I replied.
I spat the words at the man standing before me, Jinno Yuto. (Yeah, there was no reasoning with this guy.) Honestly, just look at him. If “peaked-in-middle-school edgelord” had a physical form, it would be Jinno. He was decked out in needlessly gaudy armor and a shield, all pure white with gold filigree. Even the hilt of the sword at his hip was obnoxious, and the scabbard was covered in even more tacky decorations.
”By the way, what happened to that mask? You know, the one that made you look like a total chuunibyou¹ freak?” I asked.
”I have no more use for it. If anything, you’re the one who’s lost it. What is that pathetic gear you’re wearing?” Jinno snapped.
”This is the Holy Sword, the Holy Armor, and the Holy Shield passed down through the Plaudix Royal Family. Don’t you dare call it chuunibyou, you shut-in otaku² traitor,” Jinno continued.
(No, it’s definitely chuuni armor…) I thought. Still, a Holy Sword, Holy Armor, and a Holy Shield. With a look that loud, the names fit, but the actual performance was garbage compared to the gear Tatei had forged. It was definitely made of rare metals, but that was about it.
”Hmph. Not that it matters. I’ll be the one to pass sentence on a villain like you. Prepare yourself,” Jinno declared.
”Even after hearing what Mariana had to say yesterday, you still think I’m the bad guy?” I asked.
”You obviously forced her to say those things! Did you think I wouldn’t see through a pathetic lie like that?!” Jinno shouted.
(It wasn’t a lie, though. Honestly, has this guy been huffing that shitty goddess’s fumes for too long, or what?)
”Do you finally understand? This is how it ends. Die, you high-ranking criminal! Now, receive my sentence! ‘Judgment’-”
”Hold it,” I interrupted.
I called a timeout before he could trigger his skill.
”What? Begging for mercy? I’m not interested,” Jinno sneered.
”Hardly. I just have one question,” I said.
”A question? Fine. You’re a dead man anyway; I can grant you that much. What is it?” Jinno asked.
I was already exhausted by his condescending tone, but I asked the one thing that had been gnawing at me.
”Back before the teleportation… why didn’t you ever stop Sugita and his goons from bullying us?”
That was the one thing I couldn’t wrap my head around. Jinno had this bizarrely overactive sense of “justice”-even more so than Hina. It made no sense that he’d just stand by and watch. (Was he being threatened like Hina was? If he was, I could at least understand it, even if I didn’t like it. But Jinno’s answer was something else entirely.)
”Oh, is that all? Simple. By letting them pick on you, the peace of the entire class was maintained,” Jinno explained.
”…What?”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
”Look, even I knew Sugita was a total piece of work. I knew about the bad things he was doing. But as long as you, Tatei, and Yokoo were his targets, the rest of the class was safe. You see? By you three acting as the sacrifices, the class stayed peaceful. That’s why I didn’t step in,” Jinno said.
”Are you serious? So what, we were just supposed to sit there and take it so the rest of you could be happy?” I asked.
”Exactly! To stand by and ignore the bullying for the sake of the many-that is my justice!” Jinno proclaimed.
(Wow. Talk about a twisted sense of “justice.” I almost expected some creepy white mascot to pop out and start talking about contracts. Seriously… I don’t understand you at all.)
”Are we done? If that’s all, then rot in the light of my sentence! ‘Judgment’!” Jinno yelled.
Light erupted from the heavens, pouring down toward me. But it never touched me. Seven layers of barriers-the Seven-Layered Absolute Impact Shield³-caught Jinno’s Judgment and held it firm. In fact, the light couldn’t even crack the first layer.
”Hey, Jinno. That ‘Light of Judgment’ or whatever? It’s not even reaching me,” I said.
”I-Impossible?! That… that can’t be!” Jinno stammered.
(Tell that to the shield in your face. The situation speaks for itself.)
”Well, look at it this way. Maybe deep down, you don’t actually believe I’m as ‘evil’ as you claim,” I said.
”Like hell! You’re a traitor to all of humanity! An arch-villain!” Jinno roared.
And yet, his attack still wasn’t landing. Of course, ‘Judgment’-just like ‘Keraunos’ or ‘Megiddo’-depended entirely on the user’s MAG stat. Jinno’s MAG was probably decent, but it wasn’t anywhere near the level needed to pierce my defense. (Not that I was going to do him the favor of explaining that.)
”I mean, really, what part of you is ‘just’? You’re just a coward who was too scared to stand up to Sugita,” I said.
”I’m… a coward?!” Jinno gasped.
”Yeah. You can pile up all the excuses you want, but your ‘justice’ is a joke. And did you even know? Sugita wasn’t just hitting us. He r*ped Reese. He was trying to make a plaything out of Yukiko. ‘No one else gets hurt as long as I endure it’? Bullshit. People were being destroyed right under your nose,” I said.
”Gah-! Sh-Shut up! You’re the ones who attacked Himezaki-san! Mayuzumi said so herself!” Jinno cried.
(I was floored. There were still people who believed that crap? Oh, right-Todoroki was the same brand of idiot.)
”That was a frame-up. Mayuzumi admitted she lied just because she thought it would be more ‘interesting,’” I said.
”Shut up, shut up! There is no way my Light of Judgment would fail! You must be using some underhanded, petty trick, you coward!”
”‘Underhanded’ and ‘petty,’ huh? By the way, do you even know what ‘petty’ actually means?” I asked.
”Huh? It means using cowardly tactics, obviously!” Jinno replied.
”Wrong, you moron. It means ‘short-sighted’ or ‘makeshift.’ You’re even dumber than you look,” I said.
Jinno’s face turned bright red.
”Actually, while we’re at it, let me drop a truth bomb on you. Mariana originally had her highest hopes pinned on you, Jinno. Makes sense-you had Unique Skills that dwarfed everyone else’s. You were supposed to be her partner. But for some reason, Mariana spent all her time clinging to Sugita. Do you get why? It’s because Sugita stole her right out from under you. And not just Mariana-your precious Nagase-sensei, too. Basically, by leaving Sugita to his own devices, you let him take everything that was supposed to be yours. I’m the one who finally put him down. You should be thanking me,” I said.
”SHUT UUUUUUP! I don’t believe you! I won’t believe a word from a lying traitor like you! Deactivate that pathetic wall right now and take your punishment!” Jinno shrieked.
(‘Cowardly,’ ‘pathetic’… is that all this insult-bot has in his vocabulary? Fine. It’s about time I ended this.)
”If you’re so obsessed with playing fair, then let’s go. A real fight. No Unique Skills. Just the strength and technique we’ve built with our own two hands,” I challenged.

Summary:
The narrator confronts Jinno Yuto, who attempts to execute him using ‘Judgment’. Jinno reveals his justification for allowing the narrator to be bullied, claiming it was a ‘necessary sacrifice’ for class peace. The narrator easily blocks the attack and reveals that Jinno’s trust in the bullies led to him losing his intended partners to the antagonist Sugita.
—
Trivia:
- Jinno’s ‘Holy’ gear is actually inferior to items crafted by Tatei.
- The narrator’s shield skill, ‘Seven-Layered Absolute Impact Shield’, is immune to Jinno’s current mana output.
- The term ‘kosoku’ (petty/underhanded) is a specific linguistic trap the narrator uses to mock Jinno’s intelligence.
- Nagase-sensei and Mariana were both victims of ‘netori’ (stolen away) by Sugita due to Jinno’s inaction
—
Character Insight:
Jinno Yuto exhibits ‘Main Character Syndrome’, believing his inaction was a moral choice. The narrator shows a cynical growth, no longer affected by false accusations and actively using the villain’s stupidity against him.
—
Behind the Scenes:
The author uses a ‘Keaton Yamada’ style narration note, referencing a famous Japanese narrator style often used in ‘Chibi Maruko-chan’ for dry, ironic commentary.

TL Notes:
Notes:
• Jinno – Jinno Yuto, a self‑proclaimed Hero of Justice and former classmate of the narrator, wears flamboyant white‑and‑gold armor with a holy shield and sword, wields the Unique Skill ‘Judgment’ (and other high‑tier magic). He is self‑righteous, aggressive, ignores bullying, resents Natsuki, and harbors romantic feelings for Nagase, leading the military campaign against Sasaki.
• Jinno Yuto – Jinno Yuto, a self‑proclaimed Hero of Justice and former classmate of the narrator, wears flamboyant white‑and‑gold armor with a holy shield and sword, wields the Unique Skill ‘Judgment’ (and other high‑tier magic). He is self‑righteous, aggressive, ignores bullying, resents Natsuki, and harbors romantic feelings for Nagase, leading the military campaign against Sasaki.
• Yuto – The class president. He acts like he has a strong sense of justice, but in reality, he just ignored the bullying of Natsumi Sasaki. He has a tall, athletic build and a serious expression.
• Tatei – Tatei Kozoo, 186 cm tall but now a gaunt 52 kg (skin-and-bones), was once a solid otaku buddy of Natsumi. Bullied with the narrator and Yokoo, he wields Materialization Alchemy, crafting gear for the class—most infamously the X-shaped restraint used in Sugita’s execution.
• Tate – Male Otaku friend of Reese. Gaunt and thin, wears glasses. Possesses Materialization Alchemy skill.
• Mariana – Second Princess of Plaudix and daughter of King Maugo, once a saintly nun in a white habit, she wears a transparent rubber “condom suit” beneath thin silk vestments, calling herself a “Meat Toilet.” Broken by Sugita—who stole her from her destined role as Jinno’s partner—she was fully subjugated by Natsumi’s pheromones and now worships him as a divine god, serving with obsessive, devotional submission, having abandoned the Hero Church and her former piety for absolute devotion to Natsumi.
• Sugita – Leader of the Sugita gang and Natsumi Sasaki’s primary bully, born into police privilege—grandfather Superintendent General, father a Superintendent—ensuring his crimes vanish. Lean, sharp-featured, with a cold, arrogant stare that screams “I can get away with it.” Wields Steal (窃盗) to manipulate minds and control women; once impersonated hero Sieben with mask and greatsword, only to be stripped of status and dropped to Level 7. Cursed as a “Hero” doomed to endless death and resurrection, he became a Lesser Vampire, was executed, and erased from existence—yet his legacy lingers in whispers: mocked by girls for having a smaller member than the messenger, and remembered for sexually assaulting Reese and Yukiko, cementing his status as irredeemable evil.
• Hina – Yamato Hina is a serious, beautiful student‑council vice‑president with long straight hair and sharp eyes. As the Apostle of Pride she wields fire magic and a sword, trained by Sieben and reborn as her Master’s servant; she often slips, calling him ‘Onii‑chan’, and her mind sometimes regresses to a child’s. A Japanese associate of the protagonist, she deeply despises nuclear‑scale destruction.
• Yokoo – Natsuki Sasaki’s otaku friend, modeled after Yoko from Comic Party, wields Materialization Summoning and is encased in a Living Armor. He is one of three students sacrificed to preserve class peace through bullying.
• Yukiko – A True Ancestor Vampire (Blood Sucking Demon). Silver hair, crimson eyes, porcelain white skin. Wears black Gothic Lolita fashion and a parasol during the day. Can fly using her shadow as a cloak.
• Reese – Jessica’s sister, a striking blonde, appears as the Apostle of Wrath—a short‑tempered, impulsive combatant who wields the gear she first received. Once under Sugita’s control, she was left in despair and exposure when the effect ended.
• Yuki – Yuki Chihiro. Height 178 cm, weight 70 kg (Male). Natsumi’s childhood friend. A handsome, athletic top student in the soccer club.
• Himezaki – Himezaki Rieslett. A half-Japanese, half-Swedish girl with a youthful appearance. Often mistaken for her mother’s sister. A blonde or brunette girl. Currently wearing a black cloak over a white shirt, accented with a red ribbon tie. A navy-blue, knee-length pleated skirt, black knee-highs, and brown leather shoes.
• Nagase – Nagase Emi, 23, 159 cm tall, 85‑56‑83 figure, looks younger than her age. A teacher who appears nice and is popular with students but is actually a trash teacher who first bullied Natsuki Sasaki. Also a Hero whose skills were used to buff the Plaudix army, defeated before the scene begins.
