First off, my ability numbers are low. No, wait, maybe there is a chance these are actually quite high for this world.
”Whoa, my STR is 400!” a boy shouted.
”I have 500 MAG!?” another yelled.
”Man, my AGI is so high!”
It seemed my numbers were low across the board. But what about my skills? Things like Appraisal and Item Box are probably standard. Then there was Language Comprehension; that must be why I can understand the words here. It also explains why I could read the status of Princess Mariana.
That makes the blacked-out skill the only thing worth worrying about.
Anyway, looking at the status details… Name, gender, and race are obvious. ‘Class’ means jobs like Warrior or Knight⁵. Since my class is “None,” I need to get a real class quickly.
The level is just what I expected. You get experience from fighting, and when you get enough, you level up. LP is Life Points—vitality. If it hits 0, you are dying. If it goes under one-tenth of max LP, you die. MP is Mana Points. It goes down when you use magic or skills. Reaching 0 won’t make you pass out, but you will get very tired. STR is strength, VIT is endurance, DEX is dexterity, AGI is speed, MAG is magic, and MIN is spirit. These are all common in games.
Skills are abilities. The letters after them show the rank, going up from C, UC, R, SR, to UN. C is Common, UC is Uncommon, R is Rare, SR is Special Rare, and UN is Unique.
The last part, Titles, shows a person’s position or things they have done.
Looking at it again, it feels like a game, but for me, this is like an ‘Ultimate’ difficulty. And what is this ‘UK’ rank for the blacked-out skill? Unknown? What am I supposed to do with that? Anyway, I have to make sure the other classmates don’t find out…
”Oh? Sasaki-san, all of your ability values are exactly 10, aren’t they~desuwa. What a terrible set of numbers!”
I was caught instantly. And by the exact person I wanted to avoid.
Tenkouin Reika. She has a fancy name, but she really is rich—her family is one of the top five in Japan. She doesn’t look Japanese at all, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and hair in curls. She is a beauty, for sure. She is also the leader of the girls who used to bully Samidare and now bully me.
”Ah, it’s true. He is worse than me,” Samidare said.
”Oh, but Samidare-san, your skills are great. But this person… Pfft, ku-ku-ku, his are just blacked out~desuwa,” Reika replied.
Damn it, they are just saying whatever they want. Even Samidare is looking at me and laughing. If I knew she was this kind of girl, I wouldn’t have helped her.
”Oh, it’s true! Natsumi-chan, you are a failure here too!” a boy laughed.
”Well, it is Sasaki after all.”
”Just don’t pull us down!”
Damn it, damn it, damn it! Why do I have to be mocked by these people even in another world! I already hate the goddess who called us here and Princess Mariana.
”Now then, since you checked your status, you know you have the power to fight. So, I will ask again: I want you to defeat the Demon King⁶. No, you must do it,” King Maugo said.
King Maugo’s request was basically an order. I wanted to say I didn’t have power, but it didn’t matter to him.
”That’s fine, but you aren’t making us work for free, right? If the only reward is going home, I’m not doing it,” Sugita said.
Sugita complained. You can’t work without a reward. But for me, the problem was bigger than that.
”Sugita-kun! These people are in trouble. You shouldn’t ask for rewards like that!”
Jinno Yuto, the class rep, scolded Sugita. He always ignores me when I get bullied, but now he acts like a hero.
”Sir, what is your name?” Princess Mariana asked.
”Yes, I’m Yuto—Jinno Yuto,” he said.
”I see. Thank you, Lord Yuto. You have a very noble heart,” the princess said.
”No, it’s nothing…” Jinno turned red. It was obvious he wanted the princess to like him.
”But don’t worry. Like that person said, we will give you rewards—whatever you want. Money, fame, and even beautiful women, including myself. Anything you like. And of course, we will pay you in advance,” Princess Mariana said.
Most of the boys gasped. The girls looked at them like they were trash.
”Oh, and we have men for the ladies too,” Princess Mariana said.
Some of the girls gulped at her words. Mostly the ones without boyfriends.
”So, will you do it?”
”If there’s a reward, I’m in!”
”I have no problems with that~desuwa.”
”There’s no way a Holy Knight⁷ like me would say no, gu-hi-hi…”
”It sounds kind of fun too.”
”Yeah!”
Most of the class agreed, so our quest to kill the Demon King was set.
”Thank you. The world will surely be saved now,” Princess Mariana said.
”Leave it to us!”
”We’ll take him down fast!”
It was no use. No one could stop them now. I looked at Yuki, but she just shook her head and sighed.
”Ho-ho-ho, they are very reliable, Your Majesty,” Prime Minister Usals said.
”Yes. Heroes, I have prepared a dinner for you tonight. Please enjoy yourselves,” King Maugo said.
King Maugo and Prime Minister Usals then left.
”Hey, if it’s in advance, that means we can start now, right?” a student asked.
”Yes, of course. The priestesses of Goddess Aurelia⁸ are here to help you. If you want our bodies, we will give them to you. But the food will get cold. Eat first, then…”
Princess Mariana gave a smile that was both sweet and seductive.
”You are Heroes, but the Demon King is strong. You will lose if you don’t train. Tonight, rest your hearts and bodies with food and us, and get ready for training tomorrow.”

That night, we ate great food, and most of the boys spent the night with the priestesses. The castle walls were thick, so you couldn’t hear much, but I’m sure there were plenty of sweet sighs behind every door.

Summary:
Natsumi checks his stats and finds they are the lowest in the class. His classmates and the wealthy Reika mock him for his weakness. King Maugo and Princess Mariana offer the students rewards like money and women to kill the Demon King. The class agrees and enjoys a night of rewards, while Natsumi is left alone in his room.

Natsumi’s isolation grows as his classmates are easily bribed with physical rewards. He realizes the ‘justice’ of people like Jinno is a lie. Reika and Samidare’s cruelty shows that their social hierarchy has been brought into the new world. Mariana shows she knows exactly how to control the boys with her charm.

The ‘UK’ rank and the blacked-out skill are classic tropes to indicate the protagonist has a hidden cheat. The ‘pay in advance’ move by Mariana is a psychological tactic to build instant debt and loyalty.

• Maugo – The King of Plaudix. A stout, middle-aged man with a white beard.
• Sugita – The leader of the Sugita gang and the primary bully of Natsumi Sasaki. His grandfather is the Superintendent General and his father is a Police Superintendent, so the two of them covered up all his crimes. Because of this, he does whatever he wants wherever he goes.
• Yuto – The class president. He acts like he has a strong sense of justice, but in reality, he just ignored the bullying of Natsumi Sasaki.
• Yuki – Yuki Chihiro. Height 178 cm, weight 70 kg (Male). Natsumi’s childhood friend. A handsome, athletic top student in the soccer club.
• Usals – The Prime Minister of Plaudix. Tall, nervous-looking man with a kaiser mustache.
• Aurelia – A goddess who contacts the class via the school intercom to announce their reincarnation.
• Kishi – Height 165 cm, weight 84 kg. An unattractive guy with a face full of acne. A chuunibyou who calls himself a holy knight. After being kicked out of Plaudix, he went to Greedia where Natsumi humiliated him.
