Chapter 70 Tenkouin Reika and Samidare Satsuki
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Why did it have to turn out like this? Where exactly did I go wrong?
But it’s already too late. Far too late. I’ve already resigned myself to falling-to becoming something less than human.
* * *
”Cut it out, Tenkouin-san. Samidare-san clearly hates this,” Sasaki Natsumi-kun said.
Back then, I was being relentlessly bullied by Tenkouin Reika and her two hangers-on, Torimaki Ichigo and Nigotori Maki. It was my classmate, Sasaki-kun, who stepped in to save me.
Tenkouin-san was the daughter of the Tenkouin Conglomerate ¹, a family that made such massive donations to Manabu Academy ² that the teachers were effectively rendered speechless. She was quite beautiful, but her personality was incredibly abrasive-and she was rather flat-chested. As for her two followers, Torimaki-san was “plump” to put it kindly, and obese to put it bluntly. Nigotori-san was the slender type, with a sharp, piercing gaze and not a single ounce of wasted fat on her.
”This isn’t bullying. I’m simply looking after her-desuwa,” Tenkouin-san replied.
”But it doesn’t look that way to me. It looks like Samidare-san is miserable,” Sasaki-kun said.
”Oh, that’s not true at all. Right, Samidare-san?”
Tenkouin-san smiled as she spoke, but her eyes held a coldness that reminded me of a snake.
”Well? Right, Samidare-san?” she asked again.
I was paralyzed with fear. I was on the verge of simply nodding to make it stop.
”Why don’t you stop with the threats? Is it really that fun to lord it over people?” Sasaki-kun asked.
”You certainly have a lot to say… and here I thought you were just a pathetic, gloomy loner. Fine then. I’ll graciously back off for today-desuwa,” Tenkouin-san said.
With a haughty, trilling laugh-that signature Ohoho of hers-Tenkouin-san and her group walked away, finally allowing me a moment to breathe.
”U-um… Sasaki-kun… thank you,” I muttered.
”It was nothing. It’s just that everyone else is too afraid to stop them,” he said.
”But now they’ll start bullying you too, Sasaki-kun…”
”It’s only Sugita and his group. I can take it. But honestly, girls are way more vicious than boys… How many times has this been now? Getting milk poured over your head?” he asked.
I had lost count long ago. It wasn’t just the milk; my textbooks and notebooks were constantly stolen, my locker was filled with dirt, and my gym clothes were often shredded to pieces. I had believed there was no one left to help me, but he had. I can’t describe how happy that made me.
I decided then that I would find the courage to clearly tell Tenkouin-san and the others to stop. At least, I thought I had.
* * *
”Samidare-san, I’m sorry. I’m going to stop bullying you now,” Tenkouin-san said.
After school, I had been summoned by her two followers who told me “Tenkouin-sama is calling for you.” I stood there, stunned by her words. It happened just as I was about to tell her to leave me alone.
”Is that… really true?” I asked.
”Of course-desuwa. But in exchange… I’ve decided to change my target to that cheeky little loner ³,” Tenkouin-san replied.
The loner-she meant Sasaki-kun.
”And so… I want you to help me-desuwa. No, better yet, I want you to become my friend and help me deal with him,” Tenkouin-san said.
”And if I refuse?” I asked.
”Then things go back to exactly the way they were-desuwa,” she replied.
It was a temptation from the devil herself. I knew that if I didn’t take the deal, the bullying would only get worse. Even if I told them to stop, they wouldn’t listen. If that was the case… then…
I felt bad for Sasaki-kun, but I decided to make him the sacrifice. I didn’t want to suffer anymore.
I’m sorry, Sasaki-kun. Forgive my weakness. But if our positions were reversed, you’d probably do the same thing, wouldn’t you? So it’s okay.
From that day on, I began bullying Sasaki-kun alongside Tenkouin-san. I did everything to him that had been done to me. At first, I was tormented by my conscience, but habit is a terrifying thing. Eventually, I felt nothing while bullying him; in fact, I actually started to find it enjoyable.
Naturally, no one stepped in to help him, save for one person. But Sasaki-kun rejected even that help, and as a result, the bullying only escalated further.

”Samidare-san, is something the matter?” Tenkouin-san asked.
”Oh, no… I was just remembering our time back at Manabu Academy,” I replied.
”I see…”
It has been over six months since we came to this world. Right now, I’m lounging on a beach in Slothset ⁴.
After we left Sasaki-kun to his fate, we stayed in Plaudix for a while after our debut. However, Tenkouin-san happened to overhear a faction of nobles plotting a coup against the King. She leaked the information to gain his favor and a massive sum of money, then we left the country and headed for Slothset.
Slothset is a nation of mountains and sea, a country specialized in leisure and tourism. Tenkouin-san has built a mansion here and is living extravagantly, completely ignoring the Hero’s mission or the subjugation of the Demon King.
Monsters do appear here, but honestly, they’re so weak they aren’t even worth mentioning. I did manage to catch a Horn Rabbit ⁵ to keep as a pet-something I had failed to do before-so I suppose that’s a plus.
It’s fluffy and cute, currently dozing in my arms.
Torimaki-san, meanwhile, has gone to the country of Glattonios. It’s known as the land of gourmets, and she’s there studying various dishes. Apparently, even that is for Tenkouin-san’s benefit.
”Even so… I’m bored-desuwa. It’s a nice place to kick back, but there’s nothing to do,” Tenkouin-san sighed.
She was lying on a beach chair in her bikini, grumbling. It was true that in this world, entertainment is scarce. They have board games like chess and Reversi, but for some reason, playing cards don’t exist. Anything related to gambling is non-existent. For Tenkouin-san, who used to win big at the casinos in Las Vegas every year, this world must be incredibly dull.
”I don’t mind the peace and quiet myself… though I do wish there were more books,” I said.
”Hmph… Samidare-san is an indoor type who spends time slowly and leisurely. Regardless, could you stop flaunting those unnecessarily large… things? It’s making me feel quite inadequate-desuwa. Honestly, you’re such a cow,” Tenkouin-san grumbled.
She shot a bitter look at my chest while I lay on the neighboring beach chair. It’s not like I chose to grow this way, but I kept the thought to myself.
”Tenkouin-sama, a word if you please,” Nigotori-san said.
Tenkouin-san’s loyal hound approached and whispered something in her ear.
”…Oh? Is that so? It seems we chose the wrong place to settle down-desuwa,” Tenkouin-san said.
”What happened?” I asked.
”Apparently, a casino has opened in Greedia-desuwa. We can’t just sit around here! Prepare to leave immediately. We’ll pick up Torimaki on the way and head for Greedia,” Tenkouin-san said.
She let out a triumphant laugh. Her frustration seemed to have vanished; she looked happier than I had seen her in a long time. Personally, I don’t care for gambling, but I didn’t want to be left behind, and who knows what might happen on the road? Nigotori-san and I would accompany her as guards.
We had no idea that this was our first step toward total ruin.
