Seven-Sins-Avenger 9

Chapter 9 Lil ①

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”…Wait, what?”

When I finally snapped to, I was flat on my back. I sat up and squinted at the dense canopy overhead, my head spinning. Was everything that just happened some kind of sick joke? Was my death just a vivid nightmare?

I mean, my arms and legs were still attached.

But that pain-the feeling of teeth grinding through my collarbone-that was too real to be a dream. And there, lying like a heap of discarded scrap metal, were the remains of the Wandering Armor (Living Armor). Seeing those husks made it sink in: this was no dream. My clothes were shredded, too-literally hanging off me in tattered ribbons.

Somehow, I’d died and crawled my way back from the grave.

Whatever. I stripped off the ruined gear the kingdom had issued me and swapped it for the school uniform I’d tucked away in my Item Box. For some reason, a sword and leather armor had also appeared in my inventory, so I went ahead and equipped those, too.

Still, I couldn’t wrap my head around why I was alive. I hesitantly pulled up my Status.

 ”Holy… what?!”

 I couldn’t believe my eyes.

 Name: Natsumi Sasaki

 Race: Human

 Gender: Male

 Class: Avenger

 Level: 31

 LP: 400/400

 MP: 80/80

 Condition: Normal

 STR: 40

 VIT: 40

 DEX: 40

 AGI: 40

 MAG: 40

 MIN: 40

 Skills:

 Language Comprehension (UN)

 Appraisal (R)

 Item Box (R)

 One-Handed Sword Lv.1 (C)

 Seven Deadly Sins (UN)

 Titles:

 Teleported Person

 Hero

 Avenger

 What the hell is this?

First off, my class is “Avenger” now. Is that because I swore a blood oath of revenge while I was dying? That would explain why it’s showing up under my titles, too. And my level jumped all the way to 31. My base stats are still garbage-it looks like they only increase by ten percent of their initial value per level-but still.

The real kicker, though, is that Seven Deadly Sins skill. That’s definitely the “blacked-out” skill I saw earlier.

Talk about an edgelord name. But setting that aside…

I dug into the skill details to see what I was working with.

 Seven Deadly Sins:

 - Pride

 - Wrath

 - Gluttony

 - Envy

 - Greed

 - Sloth

 - Lust

It branched out into the big ones. I tapped on Pride first.

 Pride:

 - Royal Authority

 - Kin (0/3)

 - Servitude (0/6)

 - Pride’s Radiance

Four skills were visible, though a few others were just rows of “????” that I couldn’t access yet. I checked the other sins and found a similar pattern-usually four to six skills revealed per category.

 Wrath:

 - Vengeance

 - Unquenchable Hate: As long as I harbor hatred or a desire for revenge, I will be resurrected even if I’m killed.

 - Wrath Impact

 - Judgment Bolt

I never would’ve guessed a revival-type skill would be filed under “Wrath.”

 Gluttony:

 - Predation

 - Life Eater

 - Soul Eater

 - Darkness of Gluttony

At least these names are straightforward.

 Envy:

 - Strive Until the Envy Fades: Boosts EXP gain.

 - Scorn the Slayer: If the person who kills me is a higher level than me, I’m resurrected at their level +1.

The math checked out: that meant the Barghest that killed me was Level 30.

 Greed:

 - Plunder (Snatch)

 - Winner Takes All

 - Tyrant’s Claim: Allows the user to utilize any item, even ones restricted to specific individuals.

 - Wind of Greed

I feel like “Item Master” would have sufficed for Tyrant’s Claim, but I guess I shouldn’t overthink it.

 Sloth:

 - Veni, Vidi, Vici: Shared party experience (but only I benefit from it).

 - Time Compression

 - Nightmare

 - Sleep Recovery

 - Ice of Sloth

Seriously? Caesar? I almost wanted to call out the system for the blatant rip-off with Veni, Vidi, Vici.

 Lust:

 - Allure: Enables charming the opposite sex of a lower level.

 - Heat

 - Aphrodisiac

 - Anthropomorphism

 - Arts of the Bedchamber (Bouchu-jutsu)

 - Tidal Lust

Just like Gluttony, these were pretty on the nose. I wondered if Heat and Aphrodisiac were redundant, but the system clarified: Heat affects the body, while Aphrodisiac targets the mind. If you stack them, even the most chaste maiden becomes a total slut who’d open her legs for anyone. It’s a terrifyingly effective combo. And for some reason, Lust has six skills unlocked right out of the gate.

Out of all these, eight were pure offensive skills. Wrath Impact is a physical move that deals 10x damage, but with my current stats, it’s basically useless. The magic attacks are the real prize-they deal massive damage regardless of my stats. Honestly, most of them are instant-death tier. And they only cost 3 MP. That’s going to be my bread and butter.

The utility skills are great, too. Time Compression is exactly what it sounds like. But even with all these cheats, my LP and MP are still dangerously low. I could probably handle a goblin, but I’m still way too squishy to go another round with that Barghest.

I was trying to figure out my next move when I heard the crunch of leaves.

I whirled toward the sound and saw a wolf-huge, about the size of a large dog, with deep indigo fur.

 ”GRRRRRR…”

My heart skipped a beat. After being torn apart once, the sound of a growl was enough to trigger some serious trauma. I backed away, shaking, and desperately used Appraisal.

 Race: Night Wolf

 Level: 21

 LP: 3000

 STR: 450

 AGI: 600

Except for its magic stats, this thing was on a completely different level. In a fair fight, I was dead meat.

Luckily, I don’t have to play fair.

I focused on the Lust skill: Allure. It’s an active skill that lets me enthrall any member of the opposite sex, regardless of species, as long as they’re a lower level than me.

The wolf tensed, eyes locked on me. I triggered the skill.

For a split second, it looked like the wolf might resist, but then the growling stopped. The beast padded toward me slowly, whining softly.

 ”Whine~” ssu.

It nudged its head against my hand, acting like a spoiled pet. It worked. And since the effect is permanent, I don’t have to worry about a betrayal.

I’d just gained a female wolf, as loyal as any dog, as my first companion.

 Summary:

Natsumi awakens to find he has been resurrected after being killed by a Barghest. Upon checking his status, he discovers his level has surged and his class has changed to ‘Avenger.’ He realizes his previously hidden skill is the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ ultimate skill tree. He tests his ‘Allure’ skill on a Night Wolf, successfully turning the dangerous monster into his first loyal companion.

 —

 Character Insight:

Natsumi shows a significant shift from a panicked victim to a calculating opportunist. His willingness to use ‘Lust’ skills to enslave monsters indicates he is shedding his modern moral compass in favor of survival and power.

 —

 Behind the Scene:

The skill ‘Tyrant’s Claim’ is a localization of ‘Gianism,’ a reference to the bully character Gian from Doraemon whose catchphrase is ‘What’s mine is mine, and what’s yours is mine.’

 —

1 Item Box: A standard isekai trope involving a sub-dimensional storage space for items.

2 Status: A game-like interface showing a character’s statistics and skills.

3 Language Comprehension (UN): An ‘Ultimate’ rank skill allowing the user to understand any language.
