Chapter 99 Yuki Chihiro ⑦

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

We safely reached the return magic circle and headed back to the ground. From there, we went to the Monster Hunter Guild and cashed in the magic stones we collected. Even divided into four parts, it’s about 20 silver coins, so our immediate living expenses aren’t a problem.

After parting ways with Kijima-san, I headed to the dormitory. Manabu Academy’s dorms are gender-segregated. While not strictly off-limits to the opposite s*x, permission is required to visit. Still, some sneak in for night crawls, but that’s beside the point.

Just as I was about to return to my room—

”Ahh! Yuki-san! I’ve been looking for you!” someone called out. It was a student from my class. We weren’t close, so I wondered what they wanted.

”Yuki-san, it’s serious. Nakim was forcibly taken away by Kelly and his gang!”

 ***

Two male students gripped Nakim’s arms tightly, preventing him from escaping. At 13, Nakim couldn’t break free. Another student punched him in the stomach.

 ”Ugh!”

”Come on, fight back if you can!”

They punched him repeatedly. Kelly’s superior build left Nakim helpless.

”What gives you the right to attend the principal’s special lesson, anyway?!”

 ”Ugh! Th-that’s—”

 ”Shut up, no excuses!”

 ”Guh! Ugh…uee…”

Punched relentlessly in the stomach, Nakim couldn’t help but vomit.

 ”Ew! Gross, he puked!”

The two students holding Nakim let go, and he collapsed face-first onto the ground.

”Can’t even handle that? Pathetic! Hahahaha!”

Kelly, mocking him, kicked the fallen Nakim mercilessly. Sometimes stepping on him, the two students who had been holding him also joined in the assault.

They had always bullied Nakim like this. No one stopped Kelly, and some teachers even turned a blind eye. Of course, there were teachers who intervened, but Kelly never showed any remorse.

Then Yuki transferred to Manabu. Becoming Nakim’s roommate, he quickly befriended him and repeatedly scolded Kelly.

Perhaps resenting Yuki for this, Kelly challenged him to a duel—and was utterly defeated.

He still held a grudge over that.

But against Yuki, who had demonstrated overwhelming strength, Kelly could do nothing. And since Nakim was always with Yuki, he couldn’t touch him either, leaving his frustration to build.

On top of that, the fact that both were attending the principal’s special lessons only fueled Kelly’s anger.

However, learning from a certain source that the two would be apart today, Kelly brought his lackeys, forcibly dragged Nakim to the deserted area behind the school building, and unleashed his pent-up frustration in a brutal assault.

Usually, Kelly held back, but driven by his accumulated resentment, he attacked with full force.

Nakim curled up, trying to minimize the damage, but the physical disparity was too great. Perhaps aroused by Nakim’s vulnerable state, Kelly kicked him with all his might.

If this continues, I might die. Someone, please help—

As if his plea was heard,

 ”Hey, what are you doing?!”

Nakim’s best friend, Yuki, and the highest authority at Manabu Academy, Principal Carmilla, arrived.

 ***

I ran into the principal while searching for Nakim. She had also heard about Nakim from another source, though she didn’t know he was being assaulted.

Kelly grimaced, as if thinking, ‘Here comes trouble.’

”Kelly, what are you doing to Nakim?” the principal asked, her voice tinged with anger.

”What? Just training, that’s all,” Kelly replied.

”Hmm…to me, it looks like straight-up bullying,” the principal said.

The principal glared at Kelly and his gang, but they just smirked, unfazed.

Kelly doesn’t seem to respect the principal at all. In fact, he looks down on her, acting arrogantly.

”We’re just toughening him up. Calling it bullying is unfair,” Kelly said.

Saying that, Kelly stepped on Nakim’s head.

”And that rule-breaker over there, sure, but what I can’t stand is why this Nakim gets to attend the principal’s special lessons. How can this weak, commoner brat be allowed in?!”

 Kelly kicked Nakim repeatedly.

”Stop it!” I shoved Kelly away, sending him tumbling onto his butt.

I checked Nakim’s condition. His clothes were filthy, and his face was bruised. With no holding back, they might’ve even broken a bone.

I cast ‘High Heal’ on Nakim to be sure.

 ”Are you okay, Nakim?”

 ”A…ugh…Yuki…thanks…”

He should be fine now. I helped Nakim to his feet.

”What the hell are you doing?! See, this rule-breaker resorts to violence right away. They don’t deserve to be in the special lessons!”

At Kelly’s words, the principal sighed in exasperation.

”So, you’re saying my judgment is flawed?”

”Damn right! That guy and the rule-breaker don’t deserve it more than me! If this isn’t flawed judgment, what is?!”

The principal shook her head, as if at a loss.

”Sigh…that’s exactly why you’re hopeless,” she said.

”Huh?! What’d you just say, hag?!”

”I am actually older than you, so being called a hag doesn’t bother me that much… You’ve got a big ego but have never faced anyone stronger than yourself head-on. You only pick on weak kids like Nakim. And your rotten attitude of putting down anyone stronger than you—it’s just so lame. Besides, did you come up with a countermeasure for the ¹Dispel I mentioned before? I bet you didn’t. No drive to improve, just a stuck-up, arrogant fool. My lessons aren’t cheap enough to waste on someone like you. Got it?”

The principal unleashed a tirade unbecoming of a holy figure. Kelly’s face turned bright red with anger.

”Hey, hag! Watch your mouth! Do you know who I am? Huh?!”

”A student at Manabu Academy, nothing more, nothing less. So, Kelly, instead of sneaking around, face Nakim head-on in a ranking match. If you win, I’ll consider letting you join the special lessons,” the principal said.

 ”Huh?!”

Both Nakim and Kelly voiced their surprise in unison.

”Me challenge Kelly to a ranking match? No way, I can’t win!” Nakim said.

”But if we don’t, Kelly won’t back down, right?” the principal replied.

”Of course. I can’t stand someone weaker than me getting in. Sure, let’s do it, a ranking match,” Kelly said.

 ”What?! No way…” Nakim replied.

Kelly seemed eager, while Nakim looked like he was about to die.

”But, Kelly, if you lose…you’ll face the consequences,” the principal added.

”Hmph, fine by me. I won’t lose anyway. Hahahaha!”

The principal glanced at Kelly’s vulgar laughter and muttered, “We’ll see about that…”

”The match will be in five days. We need time to prepare. Until then, no touching Nakim, got it?”

”Sure. Heh, see you in five days, Nakim. Get ready to lose. Hahahaha!”

With that, Kelly and his lackeys left.

”But…what about my opinion?” Nakim asked.

”Nakim, if things stay like this, Kelly will keep bullying you. And you can’t always rely on Yuki, right?” the principal said.

 ”But…”

”Don’t worry. I’ll train you personally from now on. So be more confident. Someone I’ve chosen like you can easily beat that guy,” the principal added.

”I’ll help too. The principal said so,” I said.

 ”U, uh…okay…” Nakim replied.

And so, Nakim ended up in a ranking match against Kelly through a strange turn of events. The principal seems confident in Nakim’s victory…but will he really be okay?
