Volume 2 Chapter 2 Lena’s Memoir 2️⃣
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
It happened suddenly.
”Gugyaaaaaaah!?”
The people around me screamed loudly, then collapsed one by one, writhing in pain.
”What’s wrong with you all?” I shouted, panic rising.
The so-called leader stood up, eyes wide with shock, and shoved me aside — I had been forced to perform fellatio on him. Exhausted from giving them those nonstop, I couldn’t tell if it was fatigue or relief, but I fainted.
* * *
When I woke up, daylight spilled softly around me.
Why am I in a place like this? Last night, I was forced over and over again… and then suddenly pushed away…
”Good morning. How do you feel?”
A voice spoke out of nowhere. Startled, I sat up and turned toward it.
There stood someone young — almost childlike in appearance — but their presence was fierce, intimidating. None of the kidnappers from yesterday looked like this.
…Wait, I get it.
”Who are you? Are you our new master?”
This person must be the one who used those men to capture us. Compared to them, this one feels completely different. They look gentle but, honestly, they scare me more than the ‘leader’ did. My instincts scream not to anger them.
Still, my body feels strangely comfortable, wrapped in a softness and warmth I’ve never known before. What is this feeling?
I rubbed my eyes and looked down at myself.
Instead of the torn rags I wore before, I was dressed in a cloak I’d never seen. The leather was strong and tanned, but the inside was lined with soft fabric — it felt luxurious, way too good for a lowly slave like me.
Maybe this person dressed me?
I didn’t understand. Why would they care for someone like me?
I didn’t know the reason, but I guessed this must be my new master.
”I’m Lena. I’m ugly and useless, but I’ll do my best to serve you, so please be kind.”
I kneeled and bowed, giving the proper slave greeting.
But then, they said, “No, I’m not your master. I was sent by the village head to rescue you.”
”Rescue?”
I sat up and looked at their face, which wore a faint troubled expression.
”Yes. I took down every last one of them.”
So they were an adventurer. Since they said the village head sent them, it made sense. There were five bandits, but they said they defeated them easily. They must be terrifyingly strong.
Still…
”So, you’re taking me back to the village?”
If I returned, I’d face ‘those days’ again — being used by them until they grew tired.
Which life was worse?
I couldn’t feel thankful at all, even though they saved me.
”Thank you,” I said quietly, unsure if I meant it.
—
That’s how I met Sir Soyuz. Thinking back now, I feel so embarrassed I want to disappear.
To have been scared of such a kind person… and to have doubted their intentions.
* * *
I didn’t believe in God.
To be honest, I still don’t.
Even though I’ve prayed “please help me” countless times since I was little, God never answered. So, it’s only natural that I don’t believe in something like that.
But as a clueless, powerless slave, I didn’t know one thing:
There’s a far greater existence in this world than God.
When Sir Soyuz instantly stopped the village head who foolishly argued over the reward and even tried to use force against an adventurer, I cheered silently. I’d never felt such excitement before. My fists clenched without meaning to, my heart screaming with relief. Still—
”Village head, I’ll say it again. The reward is fifteen gold coins. And… I’ll take that girl.”
I couldn’t believe my ears at those words.
”…Huh?”
A strange sound slipped out of me without thinking. Of course, I couldn’t understand why anyone would want a worthless slave like me. No, back then, I just didn’t understand. I hadn’t yet realized his deep kindness. Ignorance is terrifying.
Indeed—
”If you’re still trying to dodge payment, I won’t say more. It’s too much trouble, so I’ll leave it to the guild’s accountants. I hope they’re kinder than I am.”
When Sir Soyuz said that to the village head, his face and voice were so terrifying that I still shudder just remembering it. Just before, when he swept aside the villagers like they were nothing, it was unbelievable. With my ordinary eyes, I barely caught his overwhelming strength—it was almost demonic.
But those village people were just foolish. The real Sir Soyuz is endlessly kind, with a heart full of mercy. A perfect person, like a saint. Because he has such a holy heart, he must have pitied me, this ugly slave, and saved me.
* * *
”Excuse me… may I ask you something, master?”
”Yes, ask anything.”
”Well… why did you want someone like me? As you can see, I’m ugly and uneducated. I can’t imagine being useful to you…”
Back then, still unable to believe in his greatness and foolishly doubting him, Sir Soyuz looked at me with gentle eyes—
”I wonder why… Maybe because I didn’t like that bald guy.”
He said that, looking a little embarrassed. Of course, I knew the village head was terrible, and there were plenty of reasons to dislike him. Still, I couldn’t understand Sir Soyuz’s feelings then. I was the lowest slave, who never felt human love before; his kindness felt like a foolish dream.
Later, when we entered the inn and he asked me to sit at the same table—
”A slave like me can’t sit at the same table as you, master,” I said, rude without meaning to.
But despite my worthlessness, he replied firmly,
”I see. Then, Lena, as your master, I order you to sit across from me.”
Yes, he even used an order to make me sit.
At that moment, I overreacted to the word ‘order.’
For me, that word was terrifying. When a slave receives an order, no matter how unreasonable, they must obey. If they don’t, the punishment is cruel—sometimes deadly. I was very afraid of that ‘order.’
Only later did I realize Sir Soyuz must have known about my fear all along. He gave me gentle orders to warm my frozen heart. For just that kindness alone, I would gladly give my life.
As soon as I sat down, dinner was brought out. It looked delicious—something I, the lowest slave, had never eaten before. Surely, it was a mistake. If I greedily ate, I might be punished harshly later. I swallowed my saliva and held back.
But it wasn’t a mistake at all.
”Here. Don’t hold back—eat,” Sir Soyuz said with a warm, sunny smile, almost like he was giving me a command.
”Is it really okay for someone like me to have such a luxurious meal?”
As a slave—and the lowest of the low—I’d never had anything like this. Every day I got scraps: rotten vegetables, meat trimmings, innards, or bones, boiled or roasted leftovers given only after everyone else in the mansion was asleep, cold and hidden in the dark corner of the barn.
So eating something people actually enjoyed was almost unthinkable.
But maybe he saw my hesitation, because Sir Soyuz said softly,
”I ordered it for you. If you don’t eat, I’ll be the one in trouble.”
Even my slow mind understood then that he wasn’t being cruel or cruelly playful.
I fought back tears that threatened to fall and lowered my head as much as I could, saying with all my heart,
”…Yes, master. Thank you for this meal tonight.”
Sir Soyuz returned my gratitude with a gentle, somewhat complicated smile.
—Ah, how long has it been since I had a proper meal?
I thought of my father and mother, whose faces I could no longer remember clearly.
But while I indulged in those bittersweet feelings, my hungry stomach growled loudly.
Nervously, I took the spoon and scooped a trembling bite. Cold sweat trickled down as I brought the food to my mouth.
The heat of the dish spread through my mouth, and a long-forgotten deliciousness filled my senses.
”It’s warm… and so good… master…”
I chewed slowly, savoring every bite. The taste of real food, after so long, moved me to tears.
Eating while crying felt ridiculous, but still, my master never scolded me for my poor manners.
”…Yes. It’s delicious,” he said with a very soft expression.
