Chapter 11 The Saint Candidate’s Circumstances (Charlotte’s POV)
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Warning: This girl’s internal monologue may cause severe secondhand embarrassment. (Contains many prejudices and highly subjective interpretations.) If you are not in the mood, just skip this as the “I was a chubby and cynical mess in my past life, so now I am totally ecstatic about reincarnating as a gorgeous girl” chapter.

Wavy pink-blonde hair. Flawless white skin. Aquamarine eyes that sparkle. Cherry-pink pouty lips.
”No matter how many times I look at myself, I am seriously gorgeous. Really proves that human happiness is proportional to looks. Being loved just for existing? Night and day from my past life.”
So kicking aside Garrett-dono’s fiancée, the Marquis Howard’s daughter, and landing a spot as the Prince’s Consort? Easy peasy. Or so I thought…
So why did it all turn out like this? This is wrong. I was supposed to come out on top.
I, Charlotte Silver, was born to the Silver Baron family at the southern edge of the Kingdom of Rendel. My parents married for love, but Mother was fragile, and they struggled to have children for a long time. So when I was born, they said they were absolutely overjoyed, and I was pretty spoiled.
And why would they not be? This world exists so I can start my life over.
I figured that out when I was thirteen. I was berry-picking with my mom when I tripped and smacked the back of my head, just like something out of a manga. Mom found me passed out and apparently completely lost it, caused a huge scene. In the end, it was just a bump, no real damage. But the accident triggered it. I remembered my past life.
In my past life, I was the second daughter of a perfectly ordinary middle-class family in Japan. Four of us: my parents, me, and my sister who was two years older.
I got my parents’ genes fair and square, which, in modern Japan, made me “unfortunate-looking.” In other words: ugly.
My sister, on the other hand, was a throwback to our maternal grandmother. Sharp features, decent figure, and some kind of weirdo who actually liked studying.
Everything I did, I was compared to her. My face? I could not do anything about that. And comparing grades with someone who studied for fun? That is just cheap.
Besides, she was two years older! Of course she was better at stuff.
But no one ever gave me credit. Not my teachers. Not the neighbors. Not the relatives. Even my parents favored her. I never got new clothes like she did. And my sister herself would look at me with that pitying expression and say things like, “Everyone has their own strengths, you know.” Just made me angrier.
Strengths? Who cares? If you are ugly, no one takes you seriously. Being around my sister made it painfully obvious: in this world, your face is everything.
So yeah. I hated her.
The heroine of that otome game my sister was obsessed with? A pink-gold-haired beauty named Charlotte Silver. Exactly like me now. I saw the package art and thought, “Silver? With that hair color?” Made me laugh. No mistaking it.
The setting matched too. Medieval Europe vibes. Kings, nobles, a whole class system.
On its own, that is not exactly groundbreaking. But I was sure this was the game world, because this world had magic.
Turns out I have light-affinity magical power. Apparently, light-affinity holy magic is rare and revered. Once it awakens and settles, you are called a “Saint.” Before that, a “Saint Candidate.”
Being a Saint Candidate meant I was set to be sent to the Sanctuary once I turned fifteen. Honestly? I was not thrilled about the studying part. But my dad and mom cried and said I had to learn magical control or my life would be at risk, so I did not have a choice.
My parents, wanting to spoil me as much as possible before we were separated, started doting on me even more than before.
And then, in exchange for that bump on the head, the memories of my past life came flooding back.
My past life was nothing but one big “did not have,” painful even to remember. I was not smart. I was not cute. I had that tragic “gain weight just by looking at food” body. No luck either. When I finally died? I had been on my first date with a guy from high school, except it turned out it was all a punishment game. Crying the whole way home, I got caught up in an accident. End of story.
But I have been reborn. The whole “reincarnated into another world” deal. I am the kind of beauty who turns heads. A Saint Candidate blessed with holy power. And with my past-life knowledge, I even know I am the heroine of an otome game.
The universe must have felt bad for me, given how miserable my past life was, because this time around, it has loaded me up with every cheat imaginable. I can look back now and think: all that bottom-of-the-barrel suffering in my past life? It was just the setup for my big win in this world. With all the pieces in place, a happy ending is literally the only possible outcome.
Well… there is one tiny thing bugging me. My sister’s otome game was set in a school. I am headed to the Sanctuary in two years, so hopefully the Game will fix that bug before then.
After that, the Sanctuary thing got hit with a Game Correction anyway. Apparently, they have decided Saint Candidates can attend the Academy too. When I heard that, I knew this was going to be a one-girl-wins-it-all, reverse-harem academy life.
Only problem: the Kingdom of Rendel is monogamous. Eventually, I will have to choose just one.
I tried not to have much to do with my sister, so honestly? I have no idea who the capture targets even were. But these types are always high-ranking nobles or sons of big shots in the Knight Order, so marrying up is a lock. Ugh, perfect.
Plus, Saints are super rare, so the Crown Prince would naturally take an interest in me. Game Correction: absolutely incredible. I did not even have to do anything, and the world was rearranging itself around me.
That settled it. I had to go after the Prince! I do not know anything about him, but I have never heard of a capture target being plain-looking. Studly is basically the default.
Sure, I was a noble, but my family was not exactly rolling in it. Better off than commoners, obviously, but the lifestyle? Come on. I used to live in Japan, you know? I am used to convenience. To a former Japanese high school girl, this world is incredibly inconvenient and boring.
So if I wanted good food, pretty dresses, and a crowd of people fawning over me, then yeah, obviously I was aiming for the Prince. And “Crown Prince” had a nice, real ring to it. I mean, being Crown Prince’s Consort is all about manners and noble responsibilities. No way I would get to live completely carefree.
His fiancée? Whatever. I will just knock her out of the way. Because I am the heroine of this world.
But then a small problem came up.
Academy in the capital meant dorm fees, and they were steep. Even with a baron’s title, we were not exactly rich. Comfortable, maybe. But not “shake money out of the couch cushions” rich.
”Your father and I would miss you so much if you went all the way to the capital,” my mother started. “The Sanctuary at Kihua is so much closer…”
My father chimed in, and I shut him down flat.
”Dad. I am destined to meet the Crown Prince at Royal Lemres Academy and become the Prince’s Consort as a Saint. If I do not go, it is all ruined.”
I had holy magical power. My parents took it as some kind of prophecy, scraped together the funds, and sent me off to the Academy.
See? This world exists for my happiness. I just have to do what I want, act cute, and ask nicely, and the Game fixes everything else on its own.
Academy life. I can not wait.

Summary:
Charlotte Silver narrates her reincarnation as a gorgeous otome game heroine, celebrating her newfound beauty and holy powers. She reflects on her miserable past life in Japan, where she was constantly compared to her favored older sister. Despite her confidence that the world will automatically grant her a happy ending, a single line reveals her current situation has gone terribly wrong – though she doesn’t yet understand why.
—
Trivia:
Charlotte’s past life sister was the one who played the otome game featuring a heroine named Charlotte Silver – which means Charlotte’s knowledge of the game comes from observing her sister, not from playing it herself.
Charlotte hit her head at age thirteen while berry-picking with her mother, which triggered her past-life memories – a classic isekai trope.
The “Game Correction” phenomenon is Charlotte’s personal term for what she believes is the universe actively rewriting reality to benefit her.
Charlotte admits she “tried not to have much to do with” her sister, meaning she never learned the capture targets’ identities or the game’s actual plot.
The Sanctuary originally planned to take Charlotte at fifteen, but a “Game Correction” changed it so Saint Candidates could attend the Academy instead.
Charlotte’s family is a baron household – low-ranking nobility – and struggled to afford the Academy’s dormitory fees.
She explicitly plans to “knock out” the Crown Prince’s current fiancée, viewing her as an obstacle rather than a person.
The chapter ends on a cliffhanger: Charlotte’s opening lines reveal she has already failed to become the Prince’s Consort, but the flashback hasn’t yet shown how that happened.
Charlotte’s self-description as “chubby and cynical” in her past life suggests she internalized the cruelty she received from others.
The Kingdom of Rendel has a monogamy system, meaning reverse-harem fantasy is impossible – she must eventually choose one partner.
Notes:
• Marquis Howard – Head of the Howard family. Holds a position in the foreign service but prefers estate management. Famous for doting on Rebecca. Strategically avoided palace meetings to prevent Rebecca from being married into royalty. Reluctantly agreed to Garrett as a “compromise.” Known to be infuriatingly competent.
• Garrett – Blond-haired, blue-eyed second prince of Rendel, strikingly handsome, engaged to Rebecca Howard, daughter of Marquis Howard. Student at Royal Lemres Academy, possesses earth-affinity magic. Self-described wimp compared to brother Ethan, the crown prince. Dependable, stable, gentle, often taciturn. Struggles with passivity, conflict avoidance. Initially resentful of Rebecca, grows to respect her. Silent during confrontation, uses dry humor to cope. Sends daily apology flowers, requests fake engagement.
• Howard – Marquis Howard, Rebecca’s father and Howard family head, shrewdly manages domain yet indulges her unusual requests; reluctant about her royal marriage. Her mother supports with exasperated tolerance toward daughter’s demands.
• Charlotte – Reincarnated protagonist of an otome game world. Formerly an unhappy Japanese high school student from a middle-class family who was constantly compared to her older sister. Now reborn as a pink-blonde beauty with light-affinity holy magic. Saint Candidate at the Royal Lemres Academy. Self-absorbed and casually cruel, but also deeply wounded by her past life of rejection and bullying. Believes the world exists solely to grant her a happy ending. Unaware that her knowledge of the game is incomplete and that her assumptions may be flawed.
• Silver – Baron Silver, Charlotte’s father, belongs to a baronial family. Her parents are loving but indulgent, having struggled to conceive for many years before her birth.
