Volume 2 Chapter 30
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The Double-Head Centaur was a grotesque anomaly-a horse’s body with a human torso sprouting from each end.
One torso gripped a sword in each hand, while the other remained poised with a bow and arrow.
The creature looked like its movements would be awkward and restricted, but the real trouble was that each human half fought with complete independence.
The monster’s design allowed it to monitor every direction at once, effectively eliminating any blind spots.
(If there aren’t any blind spots, then a frontal assault is the only way…)
With that thought, Maria-san, our primary tank, was the first to charge the centaur.
The archer-half loosed a volley of arrows as she approached, but Maria-san swatted them aside effortlessly as she closed the distance.
She lunged straight toward the twin-blade torso.
”… [Intimidating Pressure]¹!”
She unleashed a skill designed to pull the monster’s focus while inflicting a “Fear” debuff.
As expected of a Phase Five monster, the Fear effect barely registered, but she definitely secured the aggro.
The centaur swung its twin blades at Maria-san with savage precision.
The strikes were incredibly sharp, forcing Maria-san into a purely defensive stance as she was pushed back inch by inch.
”… [Immovable]²! [Ironclad]³!”
However, as soon as Maria-san began burning her Phase Three and Phase Four skills without hesitation, she started parrying the centaur’s onslaught with calm efficiency.
The other torso loosed more arrows simultaneously, but Maria-san managed to deflect them with her greatsword.
”Maria-chi seems like she could hold it alone, but Minami will handle the archer over there!”
Minami-chan was the next to bolt forward.
After activating [Wind-Step] to surge forward, Minami-chan sprinted through the air, closing in on the centaur from above.
Faced with such high-speed, three-dimensional movement, the archer-half couldn’t manage to lock onto her.
”… [Turbulent Thrust]⁶!”
Minami-chan unleashed a barrage of stabs so fast that her two-handed weapon became a mere blur.
Since this was a Phase Five monster, the damage wasn’t massive, but the archer-half was now forced to focus entirely on her.
(At this rate, the two of them might actually take it down alone…)
Or so I thought, but the dungeon wasn’t going to make it that easy.
Skreeeeeeeeeeee-heeeeee!
The Double Centaur let out a dual-toned shriek.
Suddenly, with a sickening squelch, a second pair of arms tore out from the sides of each torso.
The sword-wielding half sprouted a bow, and the archer-half manifested a pair of blades.
In an instant, both human halves had become nightmare creatures capable of wielding swords and bows simultaneously.
Even Maria-san and Minami-chan were overwhelmed by the shift.
They were forced into a desperate defense against the flurry of blades and point-blank arrows.
”They’re actually holding their own against that high-speed storm of steel… they’re incredible. Alright, Haruka-san. Let’s wrap this up.”
”Yeah, I’m up next! [Sacred Armor Armament]⁷!”
Haruka-san, our resident “Prince,” rushed in to bail out the struggling pair.
She sprinted toward the Double Centaur with her massive mace resting lightly on her shoulder.
”[Divine Magic Shot]⁸! [Divine Magic Shot]! [Divine Magic Shot]!”
After staggering the beast with a few bursts of holy magic, Haruka-san leaped high into the air.
”[War-Mace Devastation]⁹!”
The centaur, completely occupied with Maria-san and Minami-chan, had no way to dodge the descending hammer.
The blow slammed into the horse-torso connecting the two human halves, dealing a massive, crushing blow.
”Mana, keep [Dungeon Energy Mastery]¹⁰ ready in case of an emergency… I’ll look for an opening to hit the Pressure Point!”
”Yes, I understand!”
Mana-san is arguably the strongest member of our team, but her “Dungeon Energy” consumption is atrocious.
We usually keep her in reserve to counter any potential “party-wipe” attacks, so she stays back when it looks like the rest of us can handle the monster.
Leaving Mana-san as our insurance policy, I dashed toward the Double Centaur.
Skreeeeeeeeeeee-heeeeee!
The beast entered a “Second Phase,” growing even more arms from its body-another sword and another bow for each side.
”If you’d started with that, we might have been in trouble, but you’re already on your last legs.”
The centaur was currently being tenderized by Haruka-san’s mace, while Maria-san landed hits with her greatsword and Minami-chan with her two-handed weapon every time an opening appeared.
Even with the extra arms, it couldn’t land a clean hit on those three.
”Alright, the Debuff Pressure Point is right under the belly! Aiming… now!”
I prepped my skill, pointing my finger toward the monster’s stomach.
I visualized my finger extending, reaching through the chaos of the fight to strike that one specific spot.
The moment my mental image connected with the centaur’s belly…
”… [Remote Adversarial Pressure Point]¹¹!”
I triggered the skill.
The strike was perfect, hitting the debuff point with surgical precision, and the Double Centaur’s movements slowed to a crawl.
Once its speed was gone, the monster stood no chance against the combined fury of Maria-san, Minami-chan, and Haruka-san.
I wasn’t 100% sure how the system worked, but I made sure Mana-san and I each landed a punch to ensure we got a slice of the experience points. Then…
”[Full-Force Strike]¹²!”
”[War-Mace Devastation]!”
”[Thousand Cuts]¹³!”
Caught in the crossfire of three ultimate skills, the Double-Head Centaur dissolved into a cloud of black smoke and vanished.

Glossary:
Notes:
• Maria – Sun‑kissed dark‑skinned gyaru with a voluptuous, heavy‑breasted figure and large eyes, once a B‑rank adventurer and Four Heavenly King “Boob Gal” in a tiger‑print bikini. She lost an arm to a Black Anaconda in a Phase 3 dungeon, was rescued, and now serves as Resonant Melody’s tank, wielding a greatsword and Ironclad/Immovable defenses. Devoted to healer Kanade, she plans to give him her virginity on their first meeting.
• Minami – Blue‑haired twintail loli with a cheerful aura, frontline fighter in Kanade’s party and Light Warrior of ‘Resonant Melody’. She wields a two‑handed sword (and later dual‑wields) with rapid, rhythmic thrusts, using Wind‑Step and Sky‑Run for 3‑D movement. Energetic, supportive, calls friend Maria ‘Maria‑chi’, and her bright aura catches S‑Rank eyes.
• Haruka – The Prince — an androgynous, busty Holy Priest with short hair and composed grace — wields a massive mace in Resonant Melody. She blends holy magic shots with heavy strikes, supporting allies despite potion‑level healing. Close to Mana, stalked by Kosaka, she hides burn scars, masochism, and an obsession with Hirosawa’s scent.
• Mana – Kanade, bespectacled A‑Rank explorer and sub‑leader of Resonant Melody, wears a black ponytail and immaculate armor, composed and pragmatic. She mentors the protagonist, watches him with a half‑closed, judgmental gaze, sharing a former class‑president bond. Beside her stands the party’s strongest heavy‑hitter, a young woman in a glossy black bodysuit who masters Dungeon Energy, previously met Sakurako, and serves as an insurance policy against party‑wipe attacks, though her low efficiency keeps her in reserve.
