Volume 2 Chapter 33
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
You could say we were on a total hot streak; our conquest of the Phase Five Dungeon¹ was progressing more smoothly than I ever imagined.
It almost felt like we were using a cheat code, but by following Sakurako-san’s lead, we were systematically taking down Phase Five Dungeon Monsters.
We successfully boosted our internal Dungeon Energy² to a level befitting an elite Phase Five explorer.
With our current strength, we should have been able to stand right beside Sakurako-san and fight as her equals.
(In reality, she’d lose the buff from her [Samurai of Solitude]³ skill and end up weaker if we grouped up, so we can’t actually fight as a true unit.)
”I’ve gotta admit, I’m impressed!” Sakurako exclaimed. “I never imagined you’d make it all the way to the 19th floor on your very first run!”
It was true-we had finally reached the 19th floor of the Phase Five Dungeon, ‘Shinjuku.’
This floor was known for spawning some particularly nasty Monsters; it was a level that even Sakurako-san hadn’t been able to clear on her own.
If we can clear this with our combined efforts, then all that’s left is Floor Twenty and the boss that surely waits beyond it.
”Haha, that’s likely thanks to your expert coaching and guidance, Sakurako-san,” I said. “Thank you.”
Following my lead, Mana, Minami-chan, Haruka-san, and Maria-san all offered their thanks to Sakurako-san as well.
”Heh, I won’t say my help did nothing, but honestly, this is the result of your own abilities and hard work!” Sakurako replied. “You should be proud of yourselves!”
Hearing those words from the strongest Dungeon Explorer in Japan was a genuine ego boost.
”Now then, the problem is this specific floor,” Sakurako noted. “Only two types of Monsters spawn on the 19th floor.”
”Only two types?” I asked.
”Yeah-the ‘Ultimate Slime’⁴ and the ‘Ultimate Goblin’⁵!” Sakurako said.
It was the classic Goblin and Slime duo that took me back to the Phase One Dungeons, but with a prefix like ‘Ultimate’ attached, I knew they were bound to be a serious pain.
”True to their nature, Ultimate Slimes have a rock-solid defense,” Sakurako explained. “Their bodies are so massive that actually reaching the core to deal damage is an absolute nightmare.”
”Even if you blast them with a large-scale S-Rank magic skill, there’s no guarantee it’ll even reach the weak point,” Sakurako continued. “To be honest, they’re practically impossible to kill.”
”I see… Slimes really are the ultimate tank Monsters, aren’t they?” I remarked.
”Exactly,” Sakurako agreed. “As for the Ultimate Goblins, they’re basically Goblins with raw power. I can handle them one-on-one easily-hell, I can take three or even five at once.”
”But once the numbers get higher than that, it starts getting dicey,” Sakurako added. “Their coordination is just that good.”
I see.
If it takes about six of them to match Sakurako-san’s solo strength… they must be incredibly formidable.
”…But if you can handle up to three with ease, couldn’t we just pick them off before they have a chance to group up?” I suggested.
”That works if it’s just the Goblins, but the moment an Ultimate Slime shows up, that strategy goes out the window!” Sakurako countered.
”Ah, I get it… while we’re bogged down by the Slime, the Goblins have time to swarm us,” I said.
”Exactly,” Sakurako replied. “Those Ultimate Slimes are stationed everywhere-it’s nearly impossible to bypass them all. While you’re stuck, the Goblins come crawling out of the woodwork, making this floor a total nightmare.”
”That definitely sounds like a challenge…” I muttered.
As we reached that point in the discussion, Mana gave me a little poke in the ribs.
”What’s up, Mana?” I asked.
”An Ultimate Slime is still just a Slime, right?” Mana whispered. “If Kanade-kun is here, shouldn’t he be able to one-shot them? It’s not like we’re here to farm drops or anything…”
”…Oh, you’re right,” I realized. “I guess that’s true.”
I was so caught up in Sakurako-san’s tactical breakdown that it slipped my mind, but as long as it isn’t a Monster that moves at high speed, my (Adversarial Pressure Point) targeting the Instant Death Pressure Point⁶ is devastating against Slimes.
It’s a bit of a niche Pressure Point because you don’t gain XP and nothing drops, but right now, we don’t need either of those things.
If we want to grind levels, we can just focus on the Goblins.
”…So, as it turns out, I think we can handle the Ultimate Slimes,” I said.
Sakurako-san looked at me with a bit of a puzzled expression, but it’s probably better to just show her how it works.
Once we were ready, we made our way onto the 19th floor.
We proceeded through the floor, watching Sakurako-san carve through Ultimate Goblins at high speed, until a massive Ultimate Slime finally loomed before us.
Though I could technically see its outer edges, it was without a doubt the largest Monster I had ever encountered.
Even though it was an absurdly imposing creature…
”Yeah, I’ve got this… I can see it perfectly,” I whispered.
Through my (Pressure Point Eye)⁷, I was able to pinpoint the Instant Death Pressure Point with ease.
(It would be a catastrophe if I accidentally hit a Drop Rate Boost Pressure Point⁸ instead, so I need to verify the target carefully before prepping my skill.)
I began the preparations for my (Remote Adversarial Pressure Point)⁹.
It’s a skill that can be tricky to land, but since the Ultimate Slime hadn’t aggroed onto us yet, it was barely moving.
Every so often an Ultimate Goblin would pop up, but Sakurako-san was taking them out instantly.
In this situation, there was no way even I could miss with (Remote Adversarial Pressure Point).
”…(Remote Adversarial Pressure Point)!!!!” I shouted.
The skill struck the Ultimate Slime’s Instant Death Pressure Point with pinpoint accuracy.
With a silent, violent hiss, the creature’s massive body dissolved instantly, vanishing into a cloud of dispersing vapor.
”…In one hit, huh?” Sakurako muttered. “Damn… that is an incredibly handy skill.”
Sakurako-san stared at me, looking completely stunned after I trivialized the 19th floor’s biggest obstacle in a heartbeat.
Even with that look on her face, she was still beautiful, but seeing a different side of her like this felt like a nice little bonus.
”Y-yeah… exactly,” I replied. “Unique Jobs really are something else when the stars align. Shall we keep going at this pace?”
”Ah… yeah…” Sakurako stammered.
From that point on, we used the Instant Death Pressure Point every time an Ultimate Slime blocked our path, successfully clearing the 19th floor without breaking a sweat.

Summary:
Propelling through the Shinjuku dungeon, Kanade’s party reaches the 19th floor with unprecedented speed. Sakurako reveals the synergistic threat of Ultimate Slimes and Goblins that had previously halted her progress. Kanade prepares to deploy his lethal pressure point technique against the stationary giant as the party braces for the final stretch
—
Trivia:
- The ‘Samurai of Solitude’ buff provides a mechanical explanation for why a high-level explorer like Sakurako cannot simply carry a full party without losing her primary combat advantage
- Ultimate Slimes are so large that their boundaries are difficult to perceive, making them environmental obstacles as much as combatants
- The Instant Death Pressure Point does not yield drops or experience, making it a purely strategic tool for clearing paths rather than grindin
—
Character Insight:
Kanade shows increased tactical confidence, moving from a supportive role to actively proposing the solution for the dungeon’s hardest floor, while Sakurako displays a rare moment of vulnerability and shock at his power.
