Rin-sensei was dressed in her usual turtleneck and lab coat. Her “trademark assets” jutted out as prominently as ever, bouncing energetically with every move she made.
As for where we were—we were gathered in the meeting room of the mansion we’d recently purchased as our guild home².
To me, a place on this kind of prime real estate was nothing short of a palace. Even though only five of us lived here now, I was pretty sure we could fit fifty people in here if we really tried.
I’d questioned whether a tiny five-person team actually needed such a lavish home, but apparently, it was a strategic move. Between supporting the national economy and keeping our tax bracket down, spending the money we earned was just as important as making it.
I didn’t understand the first thing about finance, so I left all that to Mana and Rin-sensei. Minami-chan was exactly like me—firmly in the “clueless about adult stuff” camp.

”Totally! Every time Kanade-chi messes up with his skills, his harem just gets bigger!” Minami-chan added.
”True. Hirosawa-kun’s only real weakness is how easy he is when it comes to women…” Haruka-san said.

Rin paused for a moment.
”Are the black ones even better?” I asked.

”Because they’re incredibly precious~,” Rin added.
”The biggest headache in any dungeon is hauling out [Dungeon Materials⁵]. We have plenty of combat types who can kill monsters, but bringing back the loot is a nightmare. Most adventurers have to leave behind a fortune and only carry out the essentials.”
”Precisely,” Mana said.
”And these black orbs—these Item Boxes—would allow a team to recover everything that usually goes to waste. Rin-sensei, since you’re calling it an Item Box…?”
”Yeah~. The capacity seems massive. Just one of these holds a huge amount, and we have two~.”
”Then it’s a blessing we’re already A-Rank. We can freely carry our own drops,” Mana noted.
Rin and Mana continued their serious discussion. I didn’t catch every detail, but I gathered that having an Item Box was essentially world-breaking.
Seeing the confusion on my face, along with Minami and Haruka’s, Mana clarified.
”To put it simply: this is the kind of material nations go to war over. If they dropped frequently, it would be one thing, but as an ultra-rare drop from a rare monster… we cannot let a soul know we have these.”
”I-I get it…”
The weight of the situation finally sank in. Part of me wished it hadn’t dropped at all, but there was no going back now.
”Regardless, there isn’t much we can do about it now, and it would be a waste not to use them,” Mana continued.
”We’ll keep this a secret between the five of us. We’ll use one as needed, but we must ensure we aren’t flashy enough to tip off the state or the Guild. Rin-sensei, since you used it here, does that mean it doesn’t require ambient Dungeon Energy?”
”Exactly~. I ran a (Material Appraisal⁶). It seems to draw on the user’s personal energy instead~. It won’t break or fail outside the dungeon,” Rin said.
”Understood. Then there’s no reason not to put it to use,” Mana replied.
With that, Rin and Mana finalized the plan for the black orbs.

”Right~. Next up is the boss drop Hirosawa-kun got from the Phase Two Dungeon~. This one is just a normal rare drop~.”
The atmosphere in the meeting room returned to its usual warmth as the meeting rolled on.
