Zero-Mana-Boss 120

Chapter 120 Omotenashi

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Grimlock family’s steward Oscar Blackwell visited my home, bringing along a rather ‘odd brat’.

I used the communication Magic Artifact hidden in my chest to directly contact the security guards on standby. Then, I ordered them to completely ignore those two uninvited guests outside for a while.

 ”Now. What should I do?”

On the translucent screen floating before me, that damn brat’s brazen face was reflected. I looked at that face while thinking about how to handle this.

”Who are these people? Are they acquaintances of yours?”

Liliana, who had been completely relaxed on my lap, asked curiously.

”The Grimlock family’s steward and some unknown, just a damn brat. They came all the way here, so I should at least hear them out. —Unfortunately, your exploration game is canceled for today. Stay quietly in this room for a while.”

”What! That’s outrageous~desuwa! Just send such ‘bothersome pests’ packing and not let them into the mansion, right?”

 …I’d love to do that.

 But unfortunately, that won’t work.

”What if they come in on their own? Then you’d be found by them, and that would get complicated.”

I pointed out while gently stroking Liliana’s soft blonde hair.

”…That’s true~desuwa ne. I’d want to see big brother and big sister. —But giving up this free life here is hard to part with…”

If she returns to the Royal Palace, she can meet Prince Liam and Princess Elenor.

But there, stiff noble manners, boring lessons with tutors, and having to smile even at people she hates—an unpleasant and tedious social life awaits in droves.

”…No help for it~desuwa. I’ll postpone the exploration until tomorrow. I’d like to enjoy a relaxing vacation here for a while longer—”

It seems she has finally given up.

Also, I now know she’s fairly fond of the carefree life here.

At this rate, depending on how I persuade her from now on—I might be able to turn her from a troublesome enemy into a powerful ally.

Since she vanished, the tension between the Royal Family and the nobles has been increasing daily.

A touch-and-go situation, one where armed conflict is possible.

Thinking of that, there may be those who frown at Princess Liliana’s “carefree attitude” and wonder what’s up with her. But she is still just a child.

This princess was merely “pretending” to have been kidnapped, skillfully guided by the underworld’s Information King Ignazio.

Blaming her unilaterally with adult logic would be far too harsh.

Children should be treated with kindness that suits children.

I lightly poked Liliana’s marshmallow-soft cheeks, then lowered her from my knees and seated her again on the sofa next to me.

”Hey! I won’t allow you to put me down on your own! Let me sit on your lap again!”

 ”Sorry, time’s up.”

Liliana is fuming angrily, but the situation changed.

Those two, who I’d left outside the front gate—

have run out of patience and have entered this mansion’s grounds on their own.

* * *

I let Liliana sit on my lap and stroked her head, but kept my gaze fixed on the screen showing the outside. About five minutes had passed since I began leaving Oscar Blackwell and that “Aka Horus” out there.

 The visitors moved.

It seems Aka Horus ran out of patience.

Red, ominous Mana was gathering in his small palm.

”Pun puuun! How long do you plan to keep me waiting! I bet you’re mocking me, aren’t you! I’m angry now! I’ll just destroy this annoying gate! Witness my amaaazing Magic!”

It seems he intends to destroy the front gate with explosion-type Magic.

A personality that tries to break through by force.

 And—a Fire-attribute Mana user, huh.

Now, just how strong is it?

That gate is built quite sturdy.

It’s a perfect touchstone to gauge this brat’s power.

”Please wait, young master. That is… abrupt. This mansion currently does not have sufficient personnel. The lack of response is likely just due to a shortage of staff, not noticing our visit.”

 Oscar calmly admonished him.

”Uhea, is that guy, that incompetent son, Xenos, so poor? Not getting proper allowance from his parents, how pathetic~”

”Moreover, after we dispose of that incompetent son, this fine mansion will become yours, young master. If you destroy the gate now, repairs will cost extra time and money later.”

 Just as expected.

This damn brat is a relative’s child that the old man brought from somewhere to be my replacement.

And if the old man went through the trouble of adopting him—

he probably has quite high Mana.

Eventually, Oscar and Aka Horus simultaneously used physical ability enhancement and floating magic on themselves, leaped over the tall gate, and landed in the garden.

 ”Sorry, time’s up.”

I stood up while still holding Liliana, seated her properly on the sofa, then headed to the entrance of the mansion. Mina, Kuuko, Lumia, and Liliana will stay in the basement.

Only Lilia, my faithful maid, silently followed behind me.

All the security alarm devices in the mansion had already been turned off by me. And I had ordered the guards to remain at their posts.

After all, they came all the way here.

 This cheeky damn brat—

I’ll give him a personal, warm welcome.

The two intruders slowly walked toward the entrance.

I went up from the basement to the first floor, taking a heavy combat sword from among several wall decorations, and headed to the entrance.

Soon, Aka Horus rudely threw open the heavy entrance door without hesitation, shouting in his piercing voice, “Hey! Is anyone here!?”

 —Almost simultaneously.

My iron fist, having reached the entrance hall, slammed right into the middle of the damn brat’s cheeky face.

 Thud!!

A wet, flesh-crushing dull sound echoed through the quiet hall.

The brat’s small body spun through the air like a ball, then landed pathetically on the hard ground of the garden.

”Huhahahaha! To break into the Grimlock family, a distinguished military family, head-on—good guts, but unfortunately, someone like you would need many lives.”

 ”Guh…! Gurrroooooouh!!”

The damn brat, pressing both hands around what must be a broken nose, writhed on the ground.

Oscar’s face, always calm and collected, showed surprise and tension for the first time.

It seems my surprise was—a great success.

I quietly muttered in my heart.

 Now.

 Let the fun party begin.
