Chapter 80 The Next Move and a Letter from an Angel

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Having fully subjugated the Demon Realm’s princess Lucifiel and her loyal maid Myuril as my new dedicated slaves, I used Teleportation Magic to return to my private room in the Grimlock estate.

The room lay wrapped in the still darkness of night. Moonlight streamed through the window, casting long shadows across the furniture.

A short while later, a knock sounded at the door. When I opened it, Lilia—my personal maid, who must have been waiting for my return—bowed deeply in greeting. Her eyes held relief, but also a faint weariness.

I had Teleported to the Demon Realm just after noon, and now it was early evening—

Mina and the two beastfolk, Kuuko and Lumiá, would be just settling in for the night.

”…I’m relieved to see you safe, my lord.”

Her voice carried a relief she couldn’t fully hide. Lilia’s slender fingers trembled slightly.

”Still awake? I’m sorry to have worried you.”

After eating the late-night meal she’d prepared, I took a bath.

Afterwards, I slipped into bed with her and pulled her smooth body close to mine. Her warmth slowly seeped into me. I wanted to reward my lovely big-breasted maid, but I’d expended too much energy in the Demon Realm.

Tonight, I’d keep our intimacy to just a light kiss.

”Sleep deprivation is the enemy of beauty, you know… Tonight, this will have to do.”

”No. Just being able to sleep like this, by your side, makes me happier than anything, my lord.”

 She said such sweet things.

Her words almost broke my self-control, but I managed to restrain myself to just one round, and then I fell asleep.

 The next morning.

Riding in the carriage toward the academy, I turned my thoughts to the specific plans for the future. The morning scenery flowing past the window was bathed in brilliant light. The swaying of the carriage and the sound of wheels rolling over cobblestones felt like the opening of a story that was about to begin.

First, let’s organize the current situation.

 First: the demon race.

I’d made contact with the Demon Realm’s princess in an unexpected way and had secured control over her. What would happen to the Demon Realm’s political situation from here was entirely unknown. But obtaining such a powerful card would undoubtedly be a major advantage.

 Second: the beastfolk.

I also wanted to eventually establish contact and form an alliance with them. But I was still undecided on the best approach. How should I send Princess Lumiá back to her homeland in the most effective way?

 Third: the dwarves.

It was about time to commission a new weapon for myself. My unique ability, [Magic Seal], was incredibly powerful, but its nature made it extremely unwieldy. And in situations where I needed to fight while concealing my true strength, having high-performance equipment would be very convenient.

For now, that was the sum of it.

If establishing contact with the beastfolk was currently difficult, then the logical first step would be to start with the dwarves, who presented a comparatively easier target.

The dwarves lived in the mountain range west of the Elven Forest ‘Sylvain’, in a place called ‘Eisen’.

And the territory of Eisen was under the jurisdiction of the nation’s powerful noble house, the Crowley Duke family. The Crowley family granted the dwarves extensive autonomy in exchange for the exclusive right to purchase their high-quality weapons at very low prices.

In other words, the dwarves living under human administration should be easier to approach than the wild beastfolk.

 —Alright.

I’ll commission them to forge a weapon for my personal use.

Make that my top priority for the time being.

Just as I reached that conclusion, the carriage came to a slow stop before the gates of the Royal Academy of Magic. The clamor of students passing through the gates drifted in through the window.

I stepped out of the carriage and made my way toward the classroom.

* * *

It was just before the academy’s entrance—

I was on my way to the classroom.

From behind me, an obnoxiously familiar voice called out.

”Hey, Grimlock! Fine morning, isn’t it! What d’you say we have a duel for old times’ sake?”

The one who’d made such a ridiculous greeting was Prince Liam’s aide—the green-haired giant, Aldrick Stonewall.

His voice rang out, far too energetic for the crisp morning air.

Ever since our flashy duel the other day, this guy had taken to acting oddly familiar with me. I maintained my cool, model-student demeanor as I responded.

”I’m afraid I’ll have to politely decline a duel. A truly lovely morning to you both, though.”

Aldrick’s companion was the blue-haired intellectual type, Elliot Valias, so I figured I’d extend the greeting to him as well.

Elliot’s already sour face twisted into something even more hostile.

The furrow between his brows deepened dramatically.

”…Shut your mouth, Grimlock. I’ll kill you.”

 Tch. Some things never change.

There was hardly a trace left of his so-called “intellectual” image.

Facing Elliot’s naked killing intent, I suddenly felt an odd sense of déjà vu.

(What is this feeling…? Ah, I see now.)

This guy looks just like that elf working in my theater—

Kyle, the one who’s always radiating such desperate hatred toward me.

Both of them are convinced that the woman they adore was stolen away by me—such pitiful men.

The jealousy they harbor for me borders on obsession.

 Elliot and Kyle.

Those two are bound to get along.

I should definitely introduce them sometime.

”Come now, don’t make such a scary face. I’ll even throw in a pair of Elenor’s panties as a peace offering—quietly, of course.”

I made my offer in a cheerful, friendly way, hoping to deepen our friendship.

Surely this would help us get along better.

”You bastard…! Shut that filthy mouth of yours right now…! I don’t care what it takes—I will kill you…!”

 Elliot was livid.

His face flushed red with rage, his blue eyes blazing with murderous intent.

I could see his clenched fists trembling at his sides.

(Hm? That’s odd. I was sure this would help us make friends.)

To my business partner—that pervert Balthazar—this would have been a rare treasure he’d weep with joy over. But it seemed Elliot didn’t appreciate it.

 Oh well.

Here I’d gone out of my way to be humble and extend an olive branch, only to be rebuffed. Making friends really is such a difficult thing, isn’t it?

As I pondered this, I arrived at the classroom to find an envelope waiting on my desk, delivered through the academy’s concierge.

 A pure white envelope—

It commanded an almost eerie presence.

 The sender: Liliana Asgard.

The younger sister of the kingdom’s First Prince, Liam Asgard.

Her beauty and purity were praised by all.

She was called the “Angel of the Asgard Kingdom”—a princess so pure, so innocent and lovely.

What could such a girl possibly want with a Margrave’s heir like me?

 I quietly broke the seal.

A faint, sweet floral scent drifted from the envelope, tickling my nostrils.

It was as if her pure image had been captured and transformed into a fragrance.
