Chapter 83 The Angel’s “House”
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Today was a holiday—no school.
And today was the day of my first meeting with the so-called “Angel of the Kingdom,” the innocent young princess who had sent me that letter a few days prior.
To meet Princess Liliana, I rode in a carriage bearing the Grimlock family crest, heading toward the royal palace.
The weather was clear—not a single cloud in the sky.
The sunlight streaming through the window was almost blinding. Light reflected off the carriage’s window frame, flickering annoyingly across my vision.
Swaying comfortably in the carriage, I mulled over how I was going to bring Princess Liliana under my control.
(…This is tricky. If she were a beastman like Kuuko or Lumiá, I could just show huge strength and be done with it.)
But even I wasn’t crude enough to think about laying a hand on a still-young human princess right out the gate.
If I could somehow make the princess fall for me on her own, she’d naturally become my “Dedicated Slave” eventually. But for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out the specifics.
Come to think of it, Elenor—Liliana’s sister—had become my “Dedicated Slave” without me even noticing. Honestly, I had no idea when she’d fallen for me. The trigger was unclear too, but before I knew it, she’d given me her heart.
During our fights in the Colosseum, I’d used the [Ring of Transformation] to hide my identity and met her multiple times as the “Black Swordsman.” Maybe it was my mysterious appeal as an unknown figure—or the bond forged through battle—that stole her heart.
…Well, whatever. No need to overcomplicate things with some complex scheme. I’m actually quite handsome, you know. Without even trying.
It’ll work out somehow.
(There’s a good chance the princess will fall head over heels the moment we meet, too.)
I let myself drift on those optimistic thoughts as the carriage carried me along.
When I arrived at the palace, I was greeted by a large group of servants. The lavish interiors and polished floors spoke volumes about the royal family’s authority.
I was then escorted directly to the princess’s private chambers—the venue for our meeting.
(A decent reception, I suppose.)
But something bothered me: neither in the greeting line, nor here in these chambers, was the princess herself anywhere to be seen.
Instead of the princess, it was her guardian knight, Serena Crystalight, who received me.
”My sincerest apologies, Lord Grimlock,” Serena said, her voice carrying the crisp formality of a noble’s retainer. “Princess Liliana is currently in the middle of changing. She had intended to receive you here, but just before your arrival, she insisted that she absolutely needed to change her dress.”
”Not at all,” I replied smoothly. “I’ll wait as long as it takes for Her Highness to be satisfied.”
Seems she’d gone so far as to change outfits just to meet me. I’d assumed this was just an extension of a child’s pretend games, but it appeared the princess was taking this meeting quite seriously.
I’d never met her before—at least, not officially. But perhaps Liliana had seen me somewhere. A moment’s passing at a soirée or some party—and in that instant, she’d fallen hopelessly in love with me.
And so, as a playful imitation of her beloved elder siblings, she’d made up the believable excuse of “negotiations for peace,” all so she could arrange a meeting with the man she pined for.
…That was probably it. That was my assessment of the situation.
After a short wait, a maid entered and led Serena Crystalight outside. Likely to accompany the newly changed princess back.
Which meant, at this moment, I was alone in the room.
If I went through the princess’s underwear drawer now, no one would be the wiser. Of course, I had no intention of doing anything so crass. But still—the fact remained that I could, and no one would know.
The “Angel”—that pure, innocent princess—what kind of attire was she wearing? Honestly, I was curious. But I wouldn’t peek. I am a gentleman, after all.
I glanced around the silent room. It was unmistakably a girl’s chamber—modest yet filled with high-end furnishings. Everything was expensive, but the design was unified in a tasteful, charming style without being gaudy.
There was a wardrobe, but that didn’t guarantee her undergarments were inside. She was a princess, after all. Her clothes were probably stored in a separate dressing room.
If curiosity got the better of me and I opened that wardrobe just as Liliana walked in—her hundred-years’ worth of love would shatter into a thousand pieces in an instant, turning to ice.
I didn’t move an inch from the offered chair. I waited quietly for the princess’s arrival.
My gaze drifted to the painting on the wall—an angel holding a bouquet, looking down at me. Almost as if it could see right through my heart.
About ten minutes passed.
(…Still, this is taking a while. And something feels off.)
A faint—yet unmistakable—unease began to fill my mind.
(…What is this? Something’s wrong. Ever since I entered this room, I haven’t heard a single servant’s footsteps. Not only is there no one here but me, but the surrounding rooms and corridors feel… empty. Like there’s absolutely no sign of life.)
Just as I focused my senses on the area around the room, I noticed something: a faint, acrid smell drifting through the air.
…What is that smell?
The next moment—
A huge shockwave tore through the air, shattered the walls, and sent the floor exploding upward. The blast roared like a living beast, flinging countless metal fragments in a storm of death that mercilessly tore into anyone in its path.
Before a scream could even form, razor-sharp shards ripped through flesh—blood sprayed through the air.
The innocent angel’s room—
In an instant, had become hell.

Translation Notes:
Notes:
• Grimlock – Xenos, the mana-less protagonist and heir to the Grimlock Margraviate—a noble Asgardian war family—masks his cunning as “Zero the Loser.” This “Royal Phantom” uses spatial magic and a Collar of Submission alongside his father Gaius to manipulate others, asserting family authority to bypass Prince Liam’s interference while Azim uses the Grimlock name and crest when apologizing to him.
• Liliana – A princess renowned as the “Angel of the Asgard Kingdom” for her unparalleled beauty and purity, she is the younger sister of First Prince Liam and Elenor. Not yet attending the Royal Academy of Magic, she has golden hair like woven sunlight (shorter than Elenor’s) and large, deeply intelligent sky-blue eyes full of curiosity. She sends a letter to the protagonist.
• Lilia – Xenos’s fiercely loyal, trauma-resilient Head Maid and slave is a lovely, pale, busty woman with long dark hair, large eyes, a chest tattoo, and a nullified crest. Wearing a black uniform, she speaks with refined Kyoto elegance, masking her subtle jealousy and anxiety for Xenos. Formally efficient with Mina and guests, the devoted maid finds deep joy sleeping by her master’s side.
• Kuuko – A cat beastman infiltration agent under Xenos’s care, she transforms from a tiny black kitten into an imposing black panther. A loyal, regenerative frontline tank, she guards allies, helps with Grimlock estate childcare, and is doted on by friends. Her strong bond with Xenos lets her break magic using his mana, and she is noted as a comparison for a control method.
• Lumiá – A rare lion beastfolk princess with snow-white fur, brilliant hair, and golden eyes, she can shift into a white lion cub. A former Abyss Coliseum prize, she is now hidden for protection at the Grimlock estate under the protagonist’s care. While she maintains a regal demeanor, she harbors a feverish fascination for him as he protects her and plans to safely return her to her homeland.
• Elenor – Princess Elenor, the “Saint of Light” and sister to Liliana-hime, is a haughty, analytical silver-blonde gladiator, swordswoman, and healer with gray-blue eyes. Bound by a Magic Seal, she is the MC’s dedicated, submissive slave and has unknowingly fallen for him. Though absent, her lethal grace remains the object of Elliot’s intense obsession, which the protagonist exploits to taunt him.
• Serena – Job: Guard knight to Princess Liliana; Relationship: Protector of Liliana; Note: From the Crystalight ducal house, a family that has served the royal family for generations. Job: Guardian knight; Relationship: Protector: Liliana-hime; Note: Formal and deferential speech.
