Chapter 88 The Angel’s Message and Temptation of the Knight

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

I had been fooling around with Elenor and Lilia in the bedroom when, at that very moment, I was informed of a visitor.

After straightening my appearance, I entered the reception room.

Pushing open the heavy oak doors, I stepped into the sunlit chamber beyond.

Princess Liliana’s personal guard knight, Serena Crystalight, rose gracefully from her chair and offered a formal greeting.

Her long, beautiful silver hair-reaching down to her shoulders-glistened with a purity as if moonlight itself had been melted into its strands. Every gesture she made carried the poise of a noble of distinguished lineage.

”I deeply apologize for the sudden visit, Grimlock-sama,” she said, her voice carrying the refined elegance of one raised in the highest circles. “I have come today to offer my sympathies regarding the recent incident, and to deliver a message from my liege, Her Highness Liliana.”

”…A message, you say?” I replied, my tone carefully neutral.

Just as I suspected. That angel-faced explosion-obsessed girl still hadn’t given up on killing me.

(Good grief. What kind of scheme will she cook up next?)

I gestured for her to take a seat, then slowly lowered myself onto the sofa across from her.

Seated beside me, as though she’d been there all along, was Elenor-who had been with me in the bedroom just moments ago, now wearing an utterly innocent expression.

”Oh my! Elenor-sama, I had no idea you were here as well. Please forgive my belated greeting,” Serena exclaimed, her composure briefly ruffled.

So Serena hadn’t been briefed on Elenor’s schedule for today.

”Now then, about Liliana-sama’s message,” I began, my gaze steady. “Would it be acceptable for Elenor-sama to remain present?”

I asked, just to be certain. If they were plotting something underhanded, Liliana might have instructed Serena to avoid speaking in front of others.

”Yes, of course,” Serena replied, inclining her head graciously. “There’s nothing to hide. My liege, Liliana-sama, would very much like to arrange another meeting with you, Grimlock-sama.”

On the surface, it certainly seemed like nothing objectionable.

But the fact that the “Explosion Angel” herself was extending such an invitation…

(Just as I thought-she still hasn’t given up on killing me.)

”Even after that horrific bombing incident, so soon afterward?” I probed, ever so subtly.

”Precisely because of it, I’m told,” Serena explained, her expression earnest. “Her Highness stated firmly: ‘The fact that such despicable interference occurred is proof that our meeting poses a significant threat to the extremists who wish to prolong this war. Therefore, we must never yield to terrorism-instead, we must continue exploring the path to peace together.’”

-Hmph. For her age, she certainly knows how to spin a persuasive argument.

”…Very well. I humbly accept this meeting. When and where shall it be?” I asked, keeping my tone measured.

Better to accept this offer than to refuse it and risk being caught off guard by something completely unexpected. By playing along with her invitation, I can at least prepare myself to some degree.

”If it pleases you, we were hoping to use that restaurant of yours-the one you own and operate, Grimlock-sama-[[Star of the Desert]],” Serena said, her hands clasped neatly before her. “And, if possible… tonight. I realize this is terribly short notice, but what do you think?”

 I see.

As a meeting venue, it’s ideal.

But if we’re using my restaurant, there’s no way they could plant explosives beforehand like last time. Is the “Explosion Angel” Liliana truly fine with that?

Or does she have some other objective beyond killing me?

 The questions pile up, but-

You can’t catch a tiger cub without entering the tiger’s den.1

”Understood,” I said, allowing a slight smile. “I’ll prepare the finest seats for you.”

With the matter settled, Elenor-who had remained silent until now-spoke up.

”If that’s the case, I’ll be joining this meeting as well,” she declared, her tone brooking no argument.

I don’t particularly mind, but what about Princess Liliana?

I held Serena’s gaze, silently urging her response. After a moment’s thought, she answered:

”…Yes, I believe that will be acceptable,” Serena said, her brow furrowing slightly. “I’ll report this to Liliana-sama myself. I’ll ensure a seat is reserved for you as well, Elenor-sama.”

With Serena’s business concluded, she was to return immediately to the Royal Palace to report to her princess.

I stepped outside to see her to her carriage-and at the moment she climbed aboard, I took her white, elegant hand and helped her up with a gentlemanly escort.

”How very kind of you, Grimlock-sama,” Serena said, a faint blush coloring her cheeks.

”Not at all,” I replied, my voice smooth as silk. “I simply wished to remain by the side of someone as beautiful as you for even a moment longer. Nothing more.”

With that, I pressed a gentle kiss to the back of Serena’s hand.

Her cheeks flushed a deep crimson before my eyes.

Though the bombing incident had thrown things into chaos, my real objective this time was Serena Crystalight herself.

My sudden advance had clearly flustered her-but her expression told me she wasn’t entirely displeased.

(Perhaps I won’t even need to threaten her with that video. There’s definitely potential here.)

I decided to pursue this innocent guard knight while simultaneously dealing with Princess Liliana.

”…You truly have no shame, do you?” Elenor’s cold voice cut through the air from behind me.

Having witnessed the entire scene, she’d clearly seen everything.

 She seemed jealous, it appeared.

-Good grief. What a handful she is.

I approached her, slid my arm firmly around her waist, and pulled her close.

”You’re one to talk,” I said, my voice dropping to a murmur. “Clearing your entire evening schedule like this-clearly you wanted to be showered with my affection all day long… you shameless princess.”

”D-don’t be absurd!” Elenor sputtered, her cheeks burning. “This is-it’s just a coincidence! My schedule just happened to be free today, that’s all! It’s not like I-!”

 SMACK!

 ”Nghiiii-!!”

The sharp crack echoed across the well-tended gardens of the Grimlock Margrave estate.

As usual, just as Elenor began her pathetic excuses, Lilia-who had been standing behind us all along-delivered her trademark “love punishment.”

”Lilia,” I said, my voice carrying a note of reproach. “We’re not in the bedroom, you know.”

”…I deeply apologize, Master,” Lilia said, bowing her head low. “I simply couldn’t suppress my urge to discipline this sow any longer.”

When I chided her, Lilia bowed her head deeply in apology.

”Honestly,” I sighed, shaking my head. “A master’s duty is to discipline his maids properly-and yet you make me do the work. Unbelievable.”

I released Elenor and gently pulled Lilia into my embrace instead.

Then, with genuine affection, I gave her plush rear a light spank.

 Smack!

”Aaahn-!! Thank you for the punishment, Xenos-sama-!!” Lilia declared, her voice brimming with genuine delight.

Elenor watched our shameless display of affection-disguised as discipline-with a thoroughly disgruntled expression.

The faint glimmer of envy flickering deep within her eyes-

 I noticed it, of course.

 Translation Notes:

1 Japanese proverb meaning “You can’t catch a tiger cub without entering the tiger’s den” – equivalent to “nothing ventured, nothing gained.” Grimlock uses this to justify accepting Liliana’s potentially dangerous invitation.

Notes:

• Elenor – Princess Elenor, the haughty, analytical “Saint of Light” and sister to Liliana, is a silver-blonde swordswoman and healer with gray-blue eyes. Though a noble princess and Grimlock’s fiancée, she is the protagonist’s submissive, magic-sealed slave. A tsundere torn between royal dignity and affection for Xenos, she balances sharp retorts with intense devotion, often appearing in revealing cosplay.

• Lilia – Xenos’s fiercely loyal, trauma-resilient Head Maid is a lovely, pale, busty woman with long dark hair, a chest tattoo, and a nullified crest. Dressed in a black uniform, she maintains refined, icy elegance when disciplining others, especially Elenor. While formal and efficient with guests, she masks deep, jealous anxiety for Xenos, finding her greatest joy in serving him and sleeping by his side.

• Liliana – Known as the “Angel of the Asgard Kingdom” for her golden hair and sky-blue eyes, this princess is the younger sister of Prince Liam and Elenor. While maintaining a refined, angelic public facade, she is a manipulative mastermind who wields explosion magic. As Serena’s liege and the true culprit behind recent assassination attempts, she carefully hides her dark nature behind whispered, noble asides.

• Serena – A member of the noble Crystalight family, this competent and intellectual knight serves as the personal protector to Princess Liliana. Distinguished by long silver hair and elegant, noble bearing, they maintain a formal and deferential demeanor.
