Volume 2 Chapter 2 Arrogant Hero
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Aksia—the closest labyrinth city to the capital.
Also known as the Labyrinth of Arrogance.
It’s the first dungeon most summoned Heroes encounter.
Monsters here are easy pickings but give out generous experience, which makes it perfect for leveling.
Unfortunately, it also makes it a breeding ground for inflated egos.
The goal is simple: power up the newbies fast and ship them off to fight the real threats.
But more than a few let their newfound strength go straight to their heads—and that’s where the trouble starts.
One such case? A young man who went by the name Alexander.
He looked East Asian, though that might’ve just been the face he chose.
Many summoned Heroes use online handles or game avatars instead of their real names.
Round nose, youthful face—he looked more like a high schooler than someone in their twenties.
He was short but built—clearly played sports.
Smart, too—sharp in theory, great with game mechanics, high Hero aptitude.
But that pride? It made him a solo player through and through.
His current class was Thief, and he had a plan.
At level 12, he’d promote to Rogue, carefully investing his summoning bonuses to optimize the transition.
The problem? Soloing as a Thief turned those last two levels into a brutal grind.
”Damn it… I should’ve just turned into a cat and leeched off someone richer.”
Today, he’d died—again.
He stomped back into the church, slapped a handful of coins into the waiting priest’s hand, and grimaced.
Resurrection costs weren’t just steep—they were punishing.
Lost gear, lost XP, and a mandatory donation just to come back.
He’d dumped all his summon bonuses into Vitality and Luck, both capped at 20.
It gave him a resurrection chance above 100%—basically guaranteed.
And with no fear of death, he’d developed a very reckless playstyle.
”Just you wait…”
As he left the church, still wobbling from residual poison, a shady-looking man called out to him.
At first, Alexander was wary.
But after a short conversation, his expression shifted into something… eager.
They shook hands and parted ways.

Later, at a run-down inn on the edge of Aksia…
Alexander had moved here recently—cheaper rent, fewer questions.
”Welcome home, Sir Hero.”
A voice greeted him from inside.
His doll—blonde, robed like a magician—stood motionless.
He’d been thrilled when he got her.
Until he realized her lower half was made of golem wood.
That joy turned to disgust fast.
He felt mocked, scammed, humiliated.
”Her face is fine. But that body… it’s just creepy.”
He wrapped his arms around her forcefully.
”Please stop, Sir Hero.”
She resisted, her voice calm but firm.
He shoved her onto the bed.
”Don’t talk back to your master, you stupid doll!”
He tore at her clothes, tapping her wooden chest with growing agitation.
”What, embarrassed? You’re a doll! You think you’re better than me?!”
Then, laughing bitterly, he said:
”Fine. Go ahead and look down on me. You don’t even have the proper parts down there, but that mouth—yeah, that’s just like any girl’s.”
He grabbed her head, shoving it downward.
The doll resisted, wood creaking, joints straining.
”Why are you fighting back?! Acting all high and mighty? You’re nothing but wood!”
He let go, huffing, and tossed her to the floor.
”I’m selling you anyway. Useless to the end.”
”…The trade of Doll Princesses is forbidden.”
”I’ve got a workaround, idiot. You and that cheap laptop are worth a million gold to the right buyer.
Once I sell you, I’ll get top-tier gear and be unstoppable!”
”How foolish.”
She looked at the so-called Hero with something close to pity.
She and the laptop she came with both housed high-grade magic crystals.
Each crystal alone was worth 100 million gold.
Anyone who knew even a little about the market would see it instantly:
Alexander was being scammed.
”You think I’m the fool? You people summon me like I’m just some tool! Act like I’m beneath you! THAT’S what pisses me off the most!”
”I will apologize. As much as you want—for the selfish summoning.”
Summoning magic only pulls in people who already desire to escape their old world.
But she apologized anyway.
”Then prove it! Dressing up a doll to mess with me? That’s not enough. I should’ve had three hot girls from the start— A busty older sister type, a shy classic tsundere, and of course a cute tomboyish loli!”
”When I level up, I want a mansion, a villa, and an army of sexy maid girls, got it?! I’ll need a noble title too—King-class at least. Because I hate when NPCs act like they’re better than me. Also, no more hardships. I want an easy mode, and I want to rampage like a goddamn anime protagonist!”
”And the church?! They should be paying ME when I die, not the other way around! I’m the one saving the world! I should have legendary gear from the start!”
”Why the hell do I need to farm gold?! Heroes should shop for free!”
”Oh—and that greedy weapon shop guy? I’m killing him someday. He’s hoarding world-saving gear and still demanding payment? That guy’s the real villain! You saw that fat old man in the Aksia shop, right? He’s probably a disguised orc. Total ripoff. HAHAHA!”
The doll princess said nothing.
She simply stood there, stunned, as Alexander rambled on, drowning in delusion and entitlement.
