Volume 10 Chapter 60 The Struggle Continues

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

”You did it, Captain!! That was a great victory!”

 ”Paul, are you hurt?”

”I’m fine. My girlfriend got a little injured, but it’s just a scratch. I owe it all to the Captain’s tactics.”

”Idiot, don’t say that, go stay with your girlfriend. She’ll get sulky if you leave her alone just because she’s okay.”

Young warriors were making a ruckus, looking like they were having the time of their lives. Some danced while still holding their weapons; others kicked the corpses of enemy soldiers and spat on them. The ill-mannered behavior of the victors was happening all over the place.

”Why, that was a damn easy win. Even for the Demon Lord’s Army¹, they weren’t all that much.”

”Boit. That is because I am a genius. With my grey matter, a war is easier than feeling up a woman’s ass.”

”A genius wouldn’t say shit like that, you octopus. Well, looks like we got lucky this time, but don’t get c**ky and loosen your puckered hole in the next battle. I am not interested in dying just because I got caught up in your mess.”

”If something happens, I will just hand you over and run, so don’t you worry. If they hear they can have their way with your ass, even the Demon Lord’s Army will be happy to put down their weapons.”

”If it is your ass, wouldn’t they just pull out of this country? Let’s send a messenger to them right away. Tell them we have an asshole with a tighter grip than any woman’s.”

Old geezers were also shouting at the top of their lungs, acting way younger than their age. Even though permission had not been given, they had started celebrating on their own, and guys lounging around with mugs of ale were everywhere. Even though we were still in the middle of deployment, the troop was as lively as a festival.

The Brigante-tai² was boiling with victory. They joined up with Ada and the others, and the post-war cleanup began under the command of Suzette and Ada. The number of dead and wounded was still unknown, but there were plenty of injured. That said, there was not a hint of a pessimistic atmosphere; laughter echoed throughout the troop.

”Master. I have finished pitching the tent.”

”Yeah, thanks. You must be tired.”

 ”No, I am fine.”

Kaitney showed a shy and modest attitude. Coming over as if to escape the noise of the rowdy unit, she stood beside Klock.

When her older sister was not around, she was aggressive. Acting as if she were Klock’s woman while standing by him was surely intentional. Even when he put his hand around her waist, she did not find it unpleasant; rather, she leaned in and smiled at him.

”Captain. We are still in the middle of preparing the deployment–“

Unable to hold back, he grabbed her arm and led her away. Slipping past people’s eyes, they secretly headed into the forest adjacent to the encampment. They hid in a spot where they could see the others through the gaps.

 ”Ah…♡”

A master and disciple’s tryst, separated from the world by a single tree. Lower garments and underwear were roughly stripped off, exposing white skin. He thrust his face into his disciple’s crotch, letting his tongue crawl. Rare for this master, he performed cunnilingus, and Kaitney held her mouth while her body trembled.

 ”No, it is dirty, Master…!!”

As if traveling through a waterless wasteland³ with a parched throat, the master earnestly slurped from his disciple’s v**ina. The needlessly enthusiastic tongue-work incessantly licked the disciple’s clitoris and labia, and Kaitney’s face flushed red. After a while, when he stood up, she understood his intent without a word, turned her back, and stuck out her buttocks.

”Hey. What are you doing hiding in a place like this?”

Princess Primlena arrived immediately after. The master was pounding his hips into the half-naked disciple whose clothes were down to her knees. The one who had followed this lewd master-disciple relationship was none other than the orange-scaled Merfolk Princess.

”Honestly, you. Right after the battle ends, you are doing this?”

Without caring about her arrival, he made her buttocks ripple. The master devoured his disciple’s pleasant v**ina. He indulged in s*x, shoving his rod in as if gouging the depths of her soft belly.

”Primlena. You are not hurt, are you?”

”There is no way I would be. More importantly, you do something about your crisis management. Do not indulge in trysts away from the unit in a place like this where enemies might still be lurking. What will you do if you are attacked?”

I am the one doing the attacking, I thought, but saying it would only make her angrier. While slamming into that ripe, full ass, I vaguely ignored my future wife’s nagging. He claimed his disciple’s body as if it were a master’s privilege. As the sensation reached its peak, he did not hold back, accelerating his pace.

 ”Nguu…♡ Ma-Master…♡♡”

He crushed her to him from behind. He grabbed her breasts, pressing her against his chest as he ground his pelvis into her, maximizing the contact until the dam finally broke. Semen surged into her. The white fluid flooded the disciple’s womb, filling every gap and making Kaitney feel as if she were being expanded from the inside out.

”Now that you have finished, get back to camp.”

Primlena stood with her arms crossed, keeping watch. There was something more than just dutiful about a woman who would stand guard while her future husband had s*x with another girl. Making her wait a moment longer, Klock entwined his tongue with Kaitney’s, swapping saliva. While she was still reeling from the force of his climax, he silenced her with a kiss. It was a relationship that went far beyond master and disciple, and he flaunted it right in front of the woman he had promised to marry.

 ”I will clean you up.”

Once the long, heavy release was over, the understanding disciple knelt and took him into her mouth. Ignoring the Merfolk Princess’s irritated expression, the sound of her sucking echoed through the rustling leaves.

”Master… should we go back like thith…?”

Tasting the inside of her mouth, Klock started to reach for her breasts again, but his arm was caught. He had wanted to be sandwiched between them, but Primlena had reached her limit. She all but dragged Klock away.

”You’re far too caught up in the moment.”

The second they stepped into the newly pitched tent, the lecture resumed.

”Don’t be like that. You know how it is after a battle.”

Primlena stood over him, arms crossed. Klock sat heavily on the simple cot with a wry smile.

”Battle or not, you are always in heat. Do your job first. The soldiers are running wild because their leader is like this. Suzette started working the moment she returned. She has been running around everywhere giving orders and keeping things together because she thought it would be too much for you alone. And yet, you…”

”I said I am sorry. I am just a little tired.”

Klock pulled the standing Primlena toward him. He buried his face in her stomach, just below her breasts. Even while being scolded, he would not let go. The Merfolk Princess let out a long, weary sigh.

”Tired? You are the one giving orders from the safety of the rear…”

She stopped mid-sentence. Her brow furrowed.

A man, motionless, with his face buried in a woman. Primlena’s eyes widened as she realized the truth.

”…I see. You really are exhausted.”

”Yeah. I ran around a bit.”

Primlena began to stroke his head. Klock did not respond; he just sought her heat, breathing in her scent as if he were trying to stabilize himself.

”I suppose so. You have been running this entire time, haven’t you? Fine. I will stay with you today. You should rest.”

With that, she let her weight fall onto him, pushing him down onto the bed. They collapsed together, and she pulled his face into her chest, holding him tight.

”…What’s this? Since when are you so nice? I still have to plan for tomorrow…”

 ”No. Rest until tonight.”

”Why? I mean, I am happy to be pampered, but…”

”Suzette and the others will handle the details. Just rest.”

Primlena’s sudden change of heart held firm. She stayed there, cradling him, until the sun began to set.

 ”Klock~~”

The one who pulled back the tent flap was Alice, a demon girl with adorable rabbit ears.

”What’s this? Is today ‘Cuddle the Merfolk’ day? No room for a bunny?”

 ”Hmm? Alice?”

Klock’s back was to the door, but he beckoned her over. The rabbit-girl hopped onto the bed immediately. Primlena looked annoyed.

”What? You don’t want Alice here?”

”…No, my apologies. Klock is tired. Let’s not fight.”

 ”Tired?”

”His shoulders are heavy. He needs to heal.”

Alice’s ears perked up, and she clapped her hands in realization. Klock said nothing. He simply accepted the care of his wife without a word of protest.

”Well, Klock isn’t exactly a warrior. Carrying all that guilt has gotta be exhausting~~”

”Yes. Suzette said it too. Klock is the type who hates killing.”

”Right, right. Even Klock gets worn out sometimes~~”

The bunny girl hugged him from behind. Surrounded by the warmth of the two women, the man let out a long, heavy breath.

Nearly fifty. That was the number of men Klock had cut down today. He did not even know how many of them were actually dead.

A leaping strike had sent a spray of blood from a Majin soldier’s neck. The man had looked at Klock with a face full of shock before collapsing. Klock had pretended not to see it. Another strike had saved a comrade. The Majin soldier, staggered by Klock’s blade, was immediately run through with a spear. That soldier had looked at Klock as if he were staring into the abyss before sinking into the dirt. Klock had ground his teeth and kept a stone-cold expression.

”Dammit. I think I want to quit this job.”

He had killed before. But it had not been enough to numb his heart. One by one, he had slaughtered them, and each time, he felt as if something hideous was taking hold of his soul.

”It is alright. Don’t worry. The person in front of you is just like you. I am a woman who has taken more lives than you could ever count in a lifetime.”

 Primlena’s embrace tightened.

”So don’t let it get to you. I am carrying your sins with you. You can relax.”

”Don’t stay depressed! Just pet your cute Alice! When your heart is tired, think about bunnies and girls!”

A hand reached around from behind and slipped into his lower garments. She gripped him tight and blew a warm breath against the back of his neck.

 ”Alice.”

Klock turned to look at her.

”Hehe♡ You finally looked at me. Did you decide you wanted bunny-girl tits along with your merfolk princess?~~”

”Hey. Klock, you can’t just go cheating every time a new girl shows up. Don’t let go of my hand. My heart isn’t as tough as my scales.”

Alice climbed on top of him, hovering over his body before giving him a deep kiss.

”Let’s do it. Let out all that frustration.”

While he was still trying to process his own feelings, his breeches were tugged down. Beside him, Princess Primlena sat up, her breasts bared to the cool air.

”If I said I wasn’t exactly in the mood, would you be pissed?” Klock asked.

”I wouldn’t be angry, but I can’t exactly let you off the hook,” the Merfolk princess replied. “Unfortunately, in your position, you need to find your second wind-and fast.”

”Hard to believe you’re ‘not in the mood’ when you’re this worked up,” the rabbit girl added with a smirk. “Your little soldier looks like a champion ready to claim his prize.”

Usually, Klock was the one to push aggressively, but his relationship with these women was one of equals. There were times when they would be the ones to make the move. The Merfolk princess and the rabbit girl took turns riding him, their hips bouncing rhythmically. By the time the sun finally dipped below the horizon, Klock had been thoroughly “consoled” by the women.

”Wahahaha! We won! A total victory!”

The stench of cheap ale filled the air. Ada, clearly already several drinks in, let out a boisterous cheer.

”That was a total cakewalk. Keep ’em coming like that, Captain,” Alard chimed in.

It was a first to see Alard acting so friendly. His cheeks were flushed a deep crimson, and his breath reeked of spirits.

”Hey, take it easy,” Klock said. “You’re overdoing it. Don’t make me regret picking up the tab just because we won.”

The battle had barely ended, yet the camp was already a mess. The band of adventurers had arrived at the meeting completely plastered. Raki, who appeared to be the only sober one in the bunch, let out a heavy sigh.

”Leave these idiots alone,” Raki said. “What’s the move? We need to plan for tomorrow.”

Klock nodded, stepping into his role as the responsible lead. “First priority is Conro. We have to find out what happened to the Beast-Demon Tribe stationed on the western flank.”

”The Beast-Demons?” Alard asked, squinting through a drunken haze. Klock ignored him; the man was useless in this state.

”If we head straight for Orrid and get stabbed in the back, we’re finished,” Klock continued. “We verify Conro’s status, then move on Orrid.”

”Will we have time?” Raki asked. “What if Orrid is already on the verge of falling?”

”It’s a risk. But clashing with the Demon Lord’s army here means Conro might already be surrounded. Orrid is likely a lost cause for now, but if we don’t secure our rear, we’re just marching into a trap.”

The tactical dilemma weighed heavily on them. To march on Conro or Orrid-the decision would define the campaign.

”Should we split our forces?” Klock asked.

”Are you kidding?” Alard barked, stumbling slightly. “We’ve only got three thousand men. We don’t have the numbers for that.”

”We don’t have a choice,” Klock countered. “There are armies at both locations. We split the troop.”

It wasn’t a choice between two paths, but a gamble on a third. Without better intel, they were at the mercy of luck.

”Ada, take two thousand and head south,” Klock ordered.

 ”No way,” Ada snapped.

Klock blinked in surprise. “What do you mean, no?” He’d expected her to jump at the chance for more glory.

”Raki can take them,” Ada said, leaning against a crate. “I’m staying with you.”

”Why? You’d get more credit leading the vanguard.”

”The Count told me to stick to you like glue,” she replied. “I intend to keep my word.”

Klock wondered if she was being literal or just stubborn. “Fine. The whole army moves to Conro first to resupply. From there, we split east and south.”

”Short on rations, huh? Got it,” Raki agreed.

”We move at dawn. Get some sleep.” Klock dismissed them. The meeting ended quickly without the rest of the command staff present.

As Klock stepped out of the command tent, a figure was waiting for him.

 ”Is the meeting over?”

”Primlena,” Klock said, surprised. “You waited for me?”

”Given our relationship, it’s only natural,” the orange-scaled Merfolk princess said. She slid her arm through his with a practiced grace, showing a rare public display of affection. She had been unusually kind today.

”Alice Lau is waiting in your tent as well,” Primlena added. “For a succubus, she’s surprisingly devoted. I can’t find it in me to complain when she’s that sincere. Come, Klock. Rest for tonight. I’ll be by your side.”

Alard, watching from the shadows, let out a low, mocking whistle. Klock felt a flush of embarrassment but didn’t pull away. He scratched his cheek, looking at the princess. He had always known she was a catch, but the depths of her character were broader than he’d imagined.

”Primlena…” Klock started. He wanted to thank her for putting up with the other women, but her expression suddenly shifted. She spun around, a three-pronged spear manifesting in her hand instantly.

 ”Intruder!” she shrieked.

 Clang!

A silver throwing knife struck the ground where Klock had been standing a second before.

 ”What?!” Klock shouted.

Primlena deflected a second blade with her spear, then a third. The projectiles were coming fast.

”Enemy attack!” Klock bellowed to the camp.

Another silver streak flashed through the air, this time from a different angle. Knives were flying from the front-right and the left. One hissed past Klock’s ear, grazing his tunic.

 ”Whoa!” He dove for cover.

Ada came running at a crouch. “What’s going on?!”

”Assassins! In the trees!” Primlena shouted. She summoned spheres of water from the air, shaping them into jagged bolts and launching them into the darkness.

 ”I can’t see a thing!” Ada yelled.

”Get back! You’re the target!” Primlena warned.

Her water arrows tore through the brush, but there was no sound of a hit-only the rustle of leaves. A dark shadow flickered at the edge of the clearing and then vanished as if swallowed by the night.

”They’re gone…?” Ada looked around, her sword drawn.

”I’m not letting them escape!” Primlena snarled, prepared to give chase.

 ”Wait! Lady Primlena!”

A voice echoed from the path. Suzette, the maid, came running toward them, her skirts gathered in her hands. She looked remarkably composed despite the sprint.

”Suzette? Do you know who that was?” Primlena asked, lowering her spear.

”Yes. I was investigating some irregularities, but I was too late. I know exactly who is behind this,” Suzette panted. She scanned the group, her eyes widening. “Where is Master Klock?”

Primlena spun around. The spot where Klock had been crouching was empty.

 ”Damn it…”

 Summary:

Fresh from a hard-won victory, Klock flees the noisy festivities to the quiet of a nearby forest with his disciple Kaitney, only for their private moment to be interrupted by his future wife, Primlena, who chastises his poor security before recognizing the emotional toll of battle etched on him. As guilt over the lives he’s taken weighs heavily, Primlena and Alice offer him quiet solace before the next dawn pulls him back to duty.

In the wake of his brief reprieve, Klock convenes a strategy meeting to choose between fortifying the city of Conro or reinforcing Orrid, but drunken arguments splinter the consensus, forcing a risky decision to divide the army. The night spirals into chaos as assassins strike under cover of darkness, ending with Klock’s sudden, unexplained disappearance just as the fragile peace he fought for begins to unravel.

 Character Insight:

Klock’s internal struggle with his identity as a non-warrior is peaking. Despite his proficiency in battle, his ‘non-killer’ nature is causing him to disassociate and seek physical intimacy as a form of grounding or escape. Primlena shows growth in her empathy, shifting from a stern wife-to-be to a maternal/comforting presence once she senses his true mental state.

Klock is showing signs of ‘commander’s fatigue,’ initially lacking the drive for intimacy due to the weight of the war. Primlena shows depth by balancing her jealousy with her duty to support Klock’s recovery and protection.

 —

 Behind the Scenes:

The author uses crude soldier dialogue to contrast the internal somberness of the protagonist, emphasizing the isolation Klock feels despite being the leader of the victors.

The ‘Beast-Demon Tribe’ mentioned is a specific faction within the broader Demon Lord’s army, suggesting varied enemy types.
