Chapter 111 Creeps Always Show Up at the Border

The Ride Rabbits¹ had been giving it their all since dawn, and thanks to their flat-out sprinting, we finally reached the border of the Regain Kingdom.
It was now midday, and midday meant one thing: grub! For the sake of Alexia, my absolute favorite girl, I was going to whip up a legendary meal.
”Lunchtime, everyone! I guess it’s time to start butchering these White Pig-Bunnies,” I announced.
”Kyu-kyuu?!” “Kyu-gyaa?!”
”You moron! If you do that, we’ll lose our only way to travel!” Karentisia barked.
”Oof-!”
I had just started to size up the trembling Pork-Soup and his friends with my knife when Karentisia-chan – someone I thought was my comrade – sent me flying with a sharp slap. She had been the one trying to dismantle these guys back when we were in the Richel Grasslands; I couldn’t believe how fast her heart had changed.
”Comrade Karentisia-chan. Have you turned traitor?” I asked.
”It’s not betrayal. These little ones are our transportation. If you eat them, just how many days do you think it will take to get back to the Alys Magic Academy?” Karentisia replied.
”That’s true, but… Pork-Soup and the others just look so tasty.”
”Kyu-kyuu?!” “Kyu-ara?”
”Fine… If you insist, we can butcher them after we get back. Then we can all have a Ride Rabbit hot pot,” Karentisia muttered.
”Oh! That sounds great. It’s been a while since the whole class got together to party,” I said.
”Kyu-kyuu?!” “Kyu-aa?!”
”…I was obviously joking,” Karentisia added.
(Right. We’ll just fatten them up a little more before we eat them…) I thought.
”Kyu-aa!!” “Kyu-kyuuu!”
It seemed Karentisia-chan was finally picking up on my good influence and learning how to crack a joke. I was impressed. Those Ride Rabbits were giving great reactions, too, even though we weren’t actually going to eat them.
”Shin-kun! I fetched some water! I even found some weird-looking wild greens for Karentisia-chan to eat!” Alexia called out.
”I also found plenty of those mysterious mushrooms you were looking for, Shin-sama,” Seria added.
”Wow! Thank you! This is perfect. Don’t worry, Karentisia-chan – I’ll make some delicious tempura with those suspicious greens just for you and – Guh!”
”Why am I the only one who has to eat the ‘suspicious’ ones?! You’ve been treating me like garbage lately, you useless mutt!” Karentisia shouted.
”Look, you’ve been appointed as the new comedy lead of this party. You’ve got to play your part. We’re down two idiots as it is, so you have to step up,” Shin argued.
”Who are you calling the comedy lead? I’m the straight man! If you want a comedy lead, you have Churidince right there,” Karentisia countered.
”Alexia is an important noble of the Regain Kingdom and my absolute favorite girl. I’m not making her do that. Alexia is my healing lead,” Shin explained.
”Your favoritism is disgusting, you damn dog!” Karentisia yelled.
Smack!
She hit me again! That lewd elf… even Alexia’s never laid a hand on me, but this lewd elf just hit me twice!
”Hoge… Ow, ow… Wait. Is that a creepy presence behind me? Who’s there? Step out from the trees!” I called out.
”Eh? Is someone there? I don’t feel a thing…” Karentisia replied.
Karentisia hadn’t noticed at all, even though the bloodlust radiating from the shadows was thick.
”Oh? You noticed? Well, fine. It just makes it easier to break you before I tie you up. I have no personal grudge, but I’m taking that body, Shin Seyfried. It’s time for the Great Witch’s reincarnation,” the man said.
”Gross! You’re a guy, so why are you dressed like such a freak? That outfit only looks good because a degenerate lewd elf like Karentisia-chan is wearing it,” Shin retorted.
”Who are you calling a degenerate… Wait, that guy. I think he’s an elf?” Karentisia-chan muttered.
A total pervert dressed in the same kind of patched rags Karentisia-chan wears appeared before us.
”Who are you calling a pervert?! Hey! Seria. Why are you hanging out with the target, Shin Seyfried? What happened to the mission? Why aren’t you following the Witch’s orders?” Zaidra barked.
”Umm… Zaidra-san. That’s… I’ve already been freed from the wraith’s curse, so… well…” Seria stammered.
”Hah? Freed from the curse? As if! Her Ladyship’s curse isn’t something so half-baked. Don’t lie to me, you pathetic excuse for an assassin!” Zaidra roared.
”Ugh… I-I’m sorry…” Seria whimpered.
The freak kept screaming at Seria-chan, bullying her until her eyes started to well up. I couldn’t forgive that. I was going to have to take this pervert down.
”You! What is your problem?! You made Seria-chan cry. I won’t forgive you!” Alexia shouted.
”He’s just a noisy creep. Stop threatening my friend,” Karentisia added.
Before I could even move, Alexia and Karentisia – who were apparently much more hot-blooded than me – had already drawn their weapons. Why were the protagonist and heroine of a yuri game so trigger-happy?

Shin and his party reach the border of the Regain Kingdom. While stopping for a lunch break and engaging in their typical comedic banter, they are ambushed by Zaidra. Zaidra, an agent of the Witch, attempts to reclaim the assassin Seria and capture Shin for a dark ritual.

• Alexia – A noble of the Regain Kingdom and Shin’s ‘absolute favorite girl.’ Described as the ‘healing lead’ of the party. She is protective of her friends and willing to draw her weapon when they are threatened. The protagonist (♀) of the original game world. Possesses silver hair and monstrous physical strength. Travels with Shin and treats him like her ‘pet’.
• Karentisia – An elf heroine who uses dual-wielding styles (‘Hyperbola of Light Fragments’ and ‘Twin Fangs of the Wind-Cutter’). Highly protective of Shin. An elf who recently joined the party. Shin refers to her as a ‘lewd elf’ or ‘degenerate elf’ due to her revealing, patched-up clothing. She considers herself the ‘straight man’ (tsukkomi) of the group and is prone to hitting Shin when he acts like a ‘mutt.’
• Right – An upperclassman frustrated with ten-year-old Alexia’s presidency who initially supported Lilith (‘Lili-tan’) for the role. He represents the ‘cute girl fetish’ faction, rips up the magic paper in anger, and engages in heated debates with Left about the academy’s bizarre political landscape and student obsessions.
• Seria – A formerly cursed assassin, now a hidden heroine with a cute appearance, joins Shin’s party after a Greenwood Village discussion. Polite and easily worried, she travels with him, reacting anxiously to chaos and seeming timid around former associates.
• Shin Seyfried – The protagonist and ‘Villainous Heir.’ A fan of the original game world who views characters through a ‘stan’ lens. He is protective of his ‘favorites’ and often engages in meta-commentary about game roles.
• Zaidra – A male elf (?) and antagonist who serves the Witch. He wears patched rags similar to Karentisia and is on a mission to capture Shin Seyfried for the Witch’s reincarnation.
