Chapter 39 The Siren’s Curse and the Underworld Escape The Villain’s Chaotic Dinner

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 Mini-summary:

Just a casual dinner explodes into a chaotic, full-scale Yuri RPG war when the main heroines and a delusional upperclassman fight for Shin’s affection. Frustrated by the never-ending harem chaos—caused by the very curse that makes him irresistible—Shin, the cynical protagonist, takes a solo teleportation jump to the Royal Capital’s shadowy Underworld Market. There, in his true persona, ‘Jin,’ he trades forbidden magic items and illegal ‘medicine,’ demonstrating his dark control over the world and deliberately terrifying his timid, recently-tamed Dragon companion, Yulize.

 —

Is this, like, the effect of the Night Alice’s Curse or something?

Seriously, I only came here for dinner, and now I’ve got the heroines abusing me, this creepy upperclassman proposing marriage, and Alexia in a full-blown, righteous rage!

”Well, well, well! Look what the cat dragged in—if it isn’t the esteemed Student Council President, Alexia Churidince! I was just about to enjoy a little intimate, loving meal with Shin Seyfried, darling. Mind not interrupting us, dear?” Hars Schwert drawled, his voice sickeningly formal even as he was being utterly inappropriate.

”N-No, you can’t! Shin-kun is having dinner with me! And what in the world do you mean, ‘intimate, loving meal’? Hars-senpai, you and Shin-kun are both boys! That’s just wrong, it is! Having an intimate, loving meal with Shin-kun is my job, you hear?” Alexia shrieked, her jealousy boiling over.

Are these two actually doing a comedy skit with me stuck right here in the middle?

”…And what in the devil are you talking about, young man? Alexia, Student Council President. You, too, are a boy, are you not? Are you an idiot?” Hars countered, his florid speech laced with an insult.

”Ugh… H-He’s right. I am a boy at Alys Magic Academy, I am!” Alexia stammered, flustered.

Yeah, I remember. Three years ago, she—the protagonist—ripped her cross-dressing brother Noël’s clothes right off and came to live in the boys’ dorm, only to get busted by the dorm leader immediately and forcefully transferred to the girls’ dorm. Yet, thanks to her family’s Churidince political clout, she was forced back into my room as the ‘cross-dressing maiden.’ Typical protagonist shenanigans.

”In that case, Alexia-sama, Shin-sama will be taking their meal with me. I am a woman…” Layla Crescent suddenly materialized, stepping out of the shadows.

”You are also a boy, are you not? Layla Crescent, Student Council Treasurer and Alexia’s butler. Just because you are the Principal’s grandson, do not assume you can do as you please,” Hars instantly shut her down.

”…You are correct, sir. I, ahem, completely forgot that was my setup for sharing a room with Shin-sama!” Layla nervously confessed, her composure cracking.

Layla-chan just popped out of nowhere and said that, only to be instantaneously logic-bombed by Hars-senpai.

Three years ago, Layla-chan was instantly outed as a cross-dresser—thanks to my snitching—but she managed to persuade her grandpa, the Principal, to let her be Alexia’s butler and my roommate anyway. That’s some serious dedication! How badly does she want to be with Alexia? Well, for me, being able to witness Alexia and my heroine, Layla-chan, getting all lovey-dovey right up close is a true blessing. A sight for sore eyes, indeed.

And now, Alexia is brandishing what looks like a miniature Golden Axe, while Layla-chan has a dagger wrapped in black cloth. Both of those are Divine Artifacts (Shinki) with serious killing ability—that’s dangerous!

”Hmph, Alexia, Student Council President. As a member of the great noble Churidince family, which boasts the bloodlines of the Regain Royal House and the great nation of the Lulision Royal House, you should cease to brandish such an object in a public forum like this. The same goes for the Student Council Treasurer, Layla-kun. As members of the esteemed Alys Magic Academy, you both must refrain from such unsightly displays, must you not?” Hars Schwert, who had just proposed marriage to me out of the blue, proclaimed.

He is a creepy pervert, no doubt, but he’s not exactly a bad guy. In fact, in the current, crazy-person-filled Alys Magic Academy, he’s one of the few relatively sane ones. He’s incredibly strict about the rules and behavior of the noble society. He’s even expected to be one of the future leaders in the Regain Kingdom. He just happens to be a pervert who absolutely believes I’m a beautiful, effeminate ‘boy-maiden’ (Otokonoko jou).

”Take your hands off Shin-kun’s beautiful little hand, you perverted Senior!” Alexia raged.

”Allow me to assist, Alexia-sama!” Layla chimed in, brandishing her weapon.

”Oh, you want to fight, do you? If you insist on disturbing my sweet time of repose with Shin Seyfried-jou, I shall just have to sweep you aside!” Hars challenged, his polite façade cracking into battle-readiness.

 ”Hars-senpai, I am, for the record, a genuine boy.” I stated matter-of-factly.

”Indeed? So you say! Well, a boy-maiden is precisely the one to enter into a Blessing of Lifelong Devotion with me! Wait for me, my Honey; I shall eliminate these disturbances to our future together!” Hars declared, totally ignoring my input.

”I shall accompany you, Hars-sama! And also, Shin Seyfried-jou, here is a bundle of love letters that the rest of our year asked me to deliver to you. Please accept them, our Honey!” Silis, a personal retainer for Hars-senpai, added, completely losing it in the frenzy.

Everyone here is absolutely insane! I’m the only normal one left, aren’t I, God?!

”No, I absolutely will not! And I am a boy, Silis-senpai!” I denied, my patience wearing thin.

”What are you talking about, Shin Seyfried? Every single one of us Seniors is completely captivated by you! We all adore you, the most fragile and adorable underclassman, and we are all so worried about you, you see!” Silis cried out, his every word making me want to vomit.

”Silis! What are you doing?! Contact our comrades immediately to deploy a Magic Wall! We must protect our Shin Seyfried!” Hyde, another one of the senior students, bellowed.

”Hah! Hyde-sama! First Squad to Fifth Squad—move forward! Protect our Shin Seyfried!” Silis shrieked.

”””UOOOOOOH! Roger that!””” The senior students roared in unison.

”Hollow-chan! Karen-chan! That’s enough fighting! We have to get Shin-kun back before he’s stolen from us! It’s an all-out war, you hear! Everyone, protect Shin-kun!” Alexia screamed, rallying her own side.

”I’ll back you up, Alexia-sama!” Layla pledged.

”Huh? Why in the hell would we protect that idiot Shin?! Gaaah! The crowd is pushing me!” Hollow (one of the heroines) yelled in panic.

”That loyal dog! Will he never stop causing trouble while we’re busy fighting! Stop it, you bad dog, Shin!” Karen (another heroine) angrily shouted.

”It’s a festival! A festival! It’s a festival with the Seniors!” “Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Let’s beat the Seniors to a pulp!” “This is what Shin-san always says—real combat is best!” The junior students chanted, totally embracing the chaos.

Agh! This is such a mess! Forget about dinner! Seniors, juniors—it doesn’t matter! Everyone is turning into a berserker who just wants to enjoy the fight! Who started this entire disaster, anyway?

Is this all because of that Night Alice’s Curse? I can’t forgive you, Night Alice, you absolute monster!

Fine, I guess I’ll just have dinner at a tavern in the Royal Capital today.

 ”…Individual Teleportation (Solo).”

With that, I secretly teleported to a certain tavern in the Royal Capital.

”Oh, no! Everyone is fighting fiercely over Shin-kun! Shin-kun, stop them quickly, like you always do… Huh? Shin-kun? Where did he go?” Alexia gasped, only now noticing my absence.

”You won’t steal Shin Seyfried from me, Alexia Student Council President!” Hars roared.

”I will never hand over Shin-kun, never!” Alexia screamed back.

DOOM!!! A heavy crashing sound reverberated through the hall.

* * *

 (The Royal Capital Underworld Market)

Szzzzzz…

The instant I arrived in the underworld, I put on the Recognition-Altering Mask and the Shapeshifting Hood artifact, disguising myself as a completely different person.

”[Oh? Well, if it ain’t Boss Jin! Long time no see, man. So, you bringin’ that strange medicine that makes you feel good no matter the time of day, yeah? You got some, right?]” Fuhai, the Dark Merchant, asked immediately, his voice desperate.

”Hey there, Fuhai the Dark Merchant. What’s up? You get hooked on it, did ya? Can’t be helped, I guess! Here, take this Strange Medicine and this Strange Box! There’s enough here for a few hundred people, so go on and be happy.” I replied, throwing him a cache of substances.

”[Ohooo!! You’re the best, Boss Jin! I’ll buy it at a good price, I will! Me and all the folks in this underworld—we can’t live without this stuff anymore, ‘sup! It’s like, a prerequisite, you know?]” Fuhai stammered out, high on need.

”Really now? That sounds like a whole lot of trouble for the future. But don’t worry, when it’s time to go back to normal, it’ll hurt a little, but I’ll fix you all up perfectly.” I smirked.

”[I don’t even know what the hell you’re talkin’ about, but Roger that! Heh heh, Boss Shin. If you ever need anything, just say the word, and I’ll help ya out, I promise you that.]” Fuhai assured me, his tone sycophantic.

”Anything, huh? …Well, I could use some intel on the Albion Empire’s Imperial Capital. I’m planning a little trip in a few days and want to set up some groundwork, you know?” I inquired, testing the waters.

”[The Albion Empire, you say? Hmm, yeah. I heard one of that country’s big shots went missin’ a few days ago, yeah, something about one of their Witches? And now all the countries next to Albion are freaking out about it.]” Fuhai reported.

Ah, is that about the little girl, the loli Witch? I don’t think I’ll get any more useful information here.

”That’s good to know. Thanks! If you find out anything else, let Doira Huise, the tavern master, know. I’ll be staying at his inn.”

”[The Fenrir Tavern, got it, Boss.]” Szzzzzz… Plunk! Fuhai said before an undead merchant made a black vortex in the ground and vanished into it.

”…I’ve still got some time before dinner. I think I’ll take Yulize-chan on a little tour of the Royal Capital’s Underworld. You can come out now, Yulize-chan.”

 (Yes, Shin-kun.)

Bwa-wa-waaan! The Dragon girl appeared in a flash of light.

”Good, good. You’ve successfully disguised yourself as an adult. You already knew this was a dangerous place from the start, didn’t you, Yulize-chan?” I praised, with a sly smile.

”Y-Yes, well… because this place seems really strange, doesn’t it? …The people walking around here are all so…” Yulize murmured nervously.

”Ah! Don’t point carelessly, or they’ll notice you! How about we go look for some Magic Items instead? We can get something that’ll definitely be useful in the Albion Empire.” I suggested, leading her away.

* * *

 (Rapunzel’s Magic Item Shop)

Screeeeak… Clack! The door opened.

”[Welcome! Hello there, Jin, and… a Dragon girl? That’s a strange combination for you.]” Rapunzel, the Witch, greeted us, her large eyes scanning Yulize.

 ”Hello, Rapunzel-san!” I called out.

”…Hello.” Yulize managed a small reply.

This witch, Rapunzel, is a Magic Tool Technician from the small, alternate dimension, the ‘Water Country.’ She’s completely blue and beautiful. She’s also a pretty dangerous person.

”[Oh, my? Jin-san, are you going to give this little girl to me?]” Rapunzel purred, her eyes widening.

 ”Yikes!” Yulize squeaked, terrified.

Rapunzel is staring intently at Yulize-chan with those big, beautiful eyes—this non-human is truly dangerous, I know it.

”…No, I won’t be giving her to you. Instead, give me all the Dragon-related Magic Items you have, Rapunzel-san… And if you try anything with this girl, I’ll tell Melusine on you, so be ready for that.” I warned, dropping a heavy name.

”[…Tch! Fine, you win. I have Dragon-Slaying Nuts, the Dragon Jar, the Dragonsnake Eye, and various other items. Where’s the gold, Jin-san?]” Rapunzel grumbled, annoyed.

”Plenty. I just relieved Fuhai-san of all his wealth a minute ago.”

”[Tch! That addicted undead moron… doing my job for me. Take them all, they’re all yours.]” Rapunzel said, shoving the items at me.

 ”Thanks for the business!”

”[Gathering all these Dragon-Slaying items… What in the world are you planning to do in the Albion Empire?]” Rapunzel inquired, her curiosity peaked.

”Hmm? Just trying to break the curse on myself, I suppose. The one that makes everyone, regardless of gender or whether they’re a monster or not, become attracted to me.” I answered, with a casual shrug.

”[…I see. In that case, you should watch out for the Fairy King.]” Rapunzel advised, her tone becoming serious.

”The Fairy King? Who’s that?” I asked.

”[The Fairy King of the Demi-Human Nations. The rumor is he’s been finding powerful Kaiju-users (Curse-Breakers) lately and either killing them or taking them as a subordinate… If you break that charming, or whatever-it-is, curse of yours, be careful. Don’t let yourself get killed.]” Rapunzel warned.

The Fairy King? I feel like I’ve heard that somewhere before, but I can’t quite remember. Oh well, I’ll keep it in mind, I guess. Now, to load all these bought magic items into my Storage Charm… That should be all the preparation I need.

 ”Okay. Got it. Thanks, Rapunzel-san.”

”E-Excuse us for the intrusion…” Yulize whispered, bowing.

Screeeeak… Clack!

”[A child who doesn’t even show their face acting so arrogant… I wonder how he managed to tame that one, of all people…]” Rapunzel muttered to herself, watching us leave.

* * *

After that, I continued to drag Yulize-chan around, showing her various shops in the underworld market. The area right beneath the Royal Capital is definitely fascinating, filled with all sorts of mysteries and genuine terror.

There’s no way I could ever let the protagonist, Alexia, or the other heroines see this side of the world.

Why am I dragging Yulize-chan around? Well, it’s so she’ll know exactly how dangerous things can get if she ever thinks about defying me, that’s why.

 (Fenrir’s Tavern)

CLUNK!

”Hey, Fenrir-san! Long time no see! Is Luna-kun back yet?” I asked, looking into the small, old tavern where a sharply-dressed Ikemen Ojisan (handsome older man) in a tuxedo stood, nursing a glass.

”Hmph? …Is that the voice of my Master? It has been a while. Luna is expected back tonight, I hear… Is this your companion?” Fenrir replied, with a smooth, formal, and deeply intimidating voice.

Clatter! Yulize dropped something.

 ”W-Why? …In a place like this… such a person… is here…” Yulize stammered out, frozen in fear.

”Hmph? …What is it, daughter of the Dragon clan?” Fenrir inquired, turning his terrifying gaze toward her.

Yulize-chan is staring at Fenrir-san with a look of pure terror. Why is that? How odd.

”Oh, that’s right. I haven’t introduced myself to Yulize-chan yet, have I? My name is Shin Seyfried, and my Job is a Tamer. And this person here is…”

”The Five Great Elementals (Elements) … Fenrir the Demon Sky Wolf (Matenrō).” Yulize choked out, completing my sentence.

”Hmph? …What’s this? Daughter, you knew of me? I am Fenrir, Protector of Jin. I look forward to making your acquaintance.” Fenrir gave her a perfect, formal bow.

”Heeeek!” Yulize shrieked, totally paralyzed by terror. Why, I wonder?

”That’s right. This is one of my Companions. So, from now on, trying to outsmart me is pointless, Yulize-chan… Make sure you remember that very well.” I said gently, smiling at her. I was being kind, really…

Ack! Yulize-chan is foaming at the mouth and just collapsed! I was only trying to tease her a little!

 ”Yulize-chan? Helloooo, Yulize-chan?”

 ”A-Ah… Gurgle, gurgle…”
