Chapter 72 The Foe of Fraternity I Will Free You

(Holy City Cemetery)
”W-w-w-w-wait just a minute! P-please wait… how can this be? That adorable face can’t possibly belong to someone showing absolutely no mercy! It’s simply not allowed!” Fim shrieked, utterly bewildered.
”Take that, desuwa! $Golden Slash (Gōruden Surasshu)$!” Alexia shouted back, her silver hair whipping around her as she launched her attack.
”I’ll take you down! $Maynard Chain (Meinādo Chein)$!” Layla declared, her voice tight with focus.
A sickening snap echoed, followed by a fleshy thudding sound!
”Hee hee hee hee!” A gleeful, cruel laugh echoed nearby.
”P-Pyaaaah?!” Fim gasped, the attack striking home.
I am Fim, the closest confidant to Pope Cera and the true No. 2 power in the Lax Empire. This is utterly unbelievable, isn’t it? What in the world are these brats?
Despite their youthful appearance, there’s not a shred of hesitation or doubt in their attacks against me. All they have is pure, unadulterated murderous intent.
”I only want to take that utterly beautiful girl ¹ (Shin) as my fiancée, the one I had a fateful meeting with in the dungeons!” Fim internally wailed, clinging to his delusion.
That’s right. I was instantly captivated by her vivid, alive expression when she was unilaterally beating up Pope Cera. I’ve never encountered a child with such an adorable face. A wonderful girl like that simply doesn’t exist anymore in the Lax Empire that Pope Cera and I have utterly ravaged. After all, all those cute-faced children were killed when Pope Cera used them as ‘sacrifices.’
”A gap! Take this, no yo! $Golden Acceleration (Gorudo Akuseru)$!” Alexia scoffed, seizing her chance.
”You won’t escape, desuwa. $Maynard Scythe (Meinādo Suraisu)$!” Layla added, sending another dark wave of power.
A bloodthirsty screech tore through the air!
”Gyaah?!… What is wrong with you children, interrupting a man’s thoughts?! Are you all gathering together to complain to me? How utterly irritating! Irritating! You won’t have any complaints when I kill you, will you?!” Fim bellowed, his voice cracking with fury.
”… That gross pervert’s body is getting bigger, no yo, Layla-chan.” Alexia observed, her disgust clear in her tone.
”Yes, Alexia-sama… Because of that, the clothes he was wearing are tearing apart. I have a very, very bad feeling about this, desu.” Layla fretted, her eyes wide with mounting horror.
”A bad feeling? What is it, Layla-cha… oh? Is that disgusting pervert becoming completely naked?!” Alexia shrieked, her composure finally cracking.
”M-my bad feeling came true, desu! He is a pervert, Alexia-sama! A pervert has been born right here in front of us!” Layla cried out in despair.
“Nuhohohoho! Who are you calling a gross pervert?! I am Fim, Pope Cera’s number one confidant! I will absolutely not forgive you brats for tormenting me! You will have to experience the same pain I have just endured…” Fim’s internal voice boomed with monstrous self-pity and fury.
Phew! It’s been a long time since I’ve shown off my gentlemanly attire—my complete nakedness—before the public eye of the Holy City of Lax.
Look at them, look at those stupid, starved Lax believers, watching and worshipping my magnificent body (my complete nakedness)! Those foolish Lax believers… they don’t even know the true nature of Pope Cera or myself. Isn’t that why they’re being pushed to the brink of starvation, unable to eat proper food, because they neglect the Lax clan?
What a truly, truly pathetic people the citizens of the Lax Empire are, holding onto their faith without any doubt. They don’t even realize they’re nothing more than mere sustenance for Cera-sama and me.
… Even so, why does that silver-haired girl possess one of the seven Sacred Artifacts? Who exactly is she? I don’t care about that maid outfit or that baby dragon.
The real problem is the Sacred Artifact that silver-haired girl is carrying: the ‘Goddess Hermes’s Golden Axe.’ That is the Axe of Justice that shows no mercy to malevolent beings. If Pope Cera and I continue to get struck by something like that, our bodies won’t be able to handle it, and we will be erased from this world.
A small, fiery shriek rose up!
”Hide that disgusting thing, desuwa! $Maid-Raid$!” Layla commanded, her anxiety spiking.
”What’s this? You want me to show you this beautiful thing? Very well, very well! Look all you want! Behold my one-ey… Gyaaaaaaahhh!” Fim yelled in triumph, only to be cut short.
He was scorched all over by the fireball the baby dragon spat out, and then his body was bound by what looked like a black cloth unleashed by the girl in the maid dress!
”Put that horrifying thing away, you creep! And Shin-kun’s is much more splendid and adorable, no yo! $Golden Crusher (Gōruden Kurasshā)$!” Alexia shrieked, her disgust overriding all else.
A sharp slice cut through the air!
”Gyaaaaaaaahhh! My precious various parts are being chopped up and diced?! N-no! I can’t—I’ll die if this keeps up! Help me! Please help me, Cera-samaaa!” Fim screamed in pure agony and panic.

(White Night’s Clock Tower)
”It’s a messenger from the First Lax Lord! The Lord’s messenger has come to save us!” The starved man declared, tears streaming down his face.
”Oh, and so much food, too?! They say a holy maiden with a Fenrir ² made the meals and fed us?” Another voice whispered, full of awe.
”That’s not all. They say she’s gone to the wicked Pope Cera, the one who rules with tyranny, to demand a change to the Lax Empire’s state of affairs.”

”Hmph… Kuhahahaha! That little boy… my Master is a holy maiden, you say… Hahahaha! I can’t stop laughing at that! I certainly can’t deny it, though. He only gets more and more adorable every day. Someone is definitely going to try and court him in the future… Hahahaha!” Fenrir boomed, her laughter echoing.
I am Fenrir. A few years ago, I lost a certain bet to my Master (Shin Seyfried) and became his subordinate. I am known as one of the Five Great Fairies (Elements) in the world of Alysphia.
”Gigiigi… Things are getting loud everywhere… And what is so funny, Fenrir, one of the Five Great Fairies?” A low, mechanical groan preceded Ayle’s question.
”Oh, nothing! But how can I not laugh at this? Our old friend, Ayle. If he would only use the name of the organization he belongs to—the Shin-kyō ³ (Religion of Shin)—to gain the support of the Lax Empire, that would be so much better,” Fenrir retorted, still chuckling.
The massive man standing before me was my old friend, Ayle Bizeldia, the corpse of a saint who, long ago, helped me in the founding of the Lax Empire.
”Gigiigi… Pope Cera would not permit such foolishness. As long as that person continues to reign over the Lax Empire, this empire is secure, desuwa.” Ayle insisted, his mechanical voice cold.
Perhaps some secret Lax art is being used on his body, which has long been dead? He died right in front of me a long, long time ago, watched over by the lover he cherished.

Summary:
The vile Chief Aide, Fim, finds himself on the wrong end of a brutally efficient attack in the Holy City Cemetery! The silver-haired Heroine, Alexia, and her maid companion, Layla, show zero mercy to the self-proclaimed power in the corrupted Lax Empire. Fim’s transformation from a smug second-in-command to a terrified, naked monster is swift, leading to a dark, comedic amputation at the hands of Alexia’s powerful Sacred Artifact. Meanwhile, back at the Clock Tower, the ancient Faerie Fenrir shares a moment of mocking amusement with the undead Saint Ayle Bizeldia, their conversation hinting at the true, twisted nature of the so-called ‘Holy Maiden’ and the depths of Pope Cera’s tyranny.
—
Character Insight:
Fim’s profound perversion and self-delusion are fully exposed when he’s stripped naked and attacked. His initial smugness about his ‘fate’ to marry Shin, the hero he obsessively stalks, highlights the depths of his sickness. Alexia’s cold, absolute resolve against him is a shocking testament to her training and hatred for the corruption in the Lax Empire. Fenrir, the ancient Faerie, reveals a deep, cynical amusement, viewing the entire unfolding crisis and the hero’s cross-dressing as a hilarious cosmic joke.
—
Behind the Scene:
This chapter is the start of a major confrontation, escalating the conflict from the shadows to an open, violent clash in the cemetery. The girls’ brutal, no-holds-barred attack on Fim is a direct narrative choice to establish the high stakes and their absolute dedication to eradicating Pope Cera’s influence. The interlude at the Clock Tower serves to remind the reader of the larger, ancient elements at play, contrasting the immediate, grotesque fight with the immortal perspective of the Faerie and the Saint.

T/L:
1 Shin: The Japanese text used a full-width katakana, which is often used for emphasis or to stylize a name, fitting for Fim’s dramatic obsession with her. ↩
2 Fenrir: A mythical giant wolf from Norse mythology. Here, the character is a female fairy named after the creature. ↩
3 Shin-kyō: This literally means ‘Shin Religion’ or ‘Shin’s Teaching,’ referencing the religious faction that follows the protagonist, Shin Seyfried. ↩
Notes:
• Fim – The Pope Cera’s chief aide and the de facto second-most powerful man in the Lax Empire. Yellowish hair. He is a self-important, theatrical man with a perverted obsession with the young hero, Shin. He wears expensive suits, which are quickly destroyed when he transforms. His loyalty is twisted and ultimately self-serving, seeing the Empire as his personal playground.
• Sura – A silver slime companion of Shin, utilized for various comedic and practical purposes.
• Uru – The wolf.
• Ayle – the No. 6 Holy Paladin of the Lax Church’s Eight Holy Lords (Seiibitsu no Ayl). He is a young man in simple white religious robes with an earnest expression. He is a minor supporting figure inside the cathedral, representing the slight concern over the external situation.
