We had turned into the Deliquent Four-man Group and were looking for Nijou’s group.
Carrying my Battle Axe on my back, I pulled out the huge spear of the Ghost Knight.
”Wow. Isn’t it bigger than Hyakudou? Isn’t it heavy?”
Tatejima asked, and it seemed like the other 2 were surprised too. They were reacting more honestly than I expected. It felt good, so I decided to show off a bit.
”Do you know about rucking? It’s a classic military training thing where you walk long distances or hike with a heavy backpack… I’ve been doing it since I was a kid.”
I made a proud face, and Ashihara clicked his tongue loudly.
”Wow. While I was having fun with the girls, Hyakudou was doing tough stuff like that.”
Tatejima’s words hit me hard. It hurt to think that while I was training my body, everyone else was enjoying their youth. Even when love stories started in class, I was always left out. I didn’t have the time for romance, and because of that, my experience was low. I came to Another World without ever really going on a date.
”Tch. I shouldn’t have helped you.”
”Come on. Thanks to that, you’re doing great against the Demonkind, right? Now, it seems like you’re the winner over me.”
Tatejima looked a bit envious.
Big sister probably planned to train me to be a Hero Candidate from the start. Even after all that training, I thought I’d get scolded for not showing any results. But even when I became a useless person who just played games, big sister never said anything. I think I finally understand why.
”Oh. I can really see it now.”
Kajihira said with an impressed voice. Since we were relying on the magic detection Necklace, there was no way we would lose track.
We were able to spot Nijou and the other 2 safely.
”──Hyakudou, I can’t believe this! You’re hanging out with those savages!”
Nijou speaks up right away.
Nijou Kurea. She’s from a long line of noble families, so she has a haughty and bossy personality. Her long hair is dyed bright red and styled in tight curls. She looks like a flashy girl student.
”I want to ask you something.”
I point my huge spear at Shiragi.
”What did you do to the president?”
Shiragi Keika. She’s a graceful girl with long black hair. She carries herself softly and elegantly, a different type of noble girl compared to Nijou.
She doesn’t flinch at all and just smiles.
”Pointing weapons at a lady is so cruel.”
Suddenly, I step back and dodge a greatsword that swings down from the side.
Kajihira is coming at me with the intent to kill.
It’s not just him. Everyone except Shiragi is staring at me with a murderous look, just like when I first met the presidents.
”Ha. Is the cute act over now?”
Shiragi keeps smiling creepily. She probably doesn’t even want to hide it.
”Hey, Hyakudou. How about a deal? I’ll help everyone here, so why don’t you just die quietly?”
I never thought I’d be taken hostage. I have no idea what her aim is.
”I didn’t know you hated me so much. We’ve only talked a few times, right?”
”Right now, Hyakudou, you smell bad. ──It’s the filthy Godborn smell that’s making my nose wrinkle.”
Shiragi whispers this while smiling, a completely unexpected attitude from her usual graceful self.
”From the way you talk, it seems you have a grudge against Godborn.”
”Hehe. It’s a ridiculous story, but… do you believe in Reincarnation, Hyakudou?”
Reincarnation. Being born again. Since I’m experiencing a fantasy right now, it wouldn’t be strange if reincarnated people really exist.
”Another world person? Or did a Hero Candidate killed in the Island of Trials get reincarnated?”
Her eyes were locked onto me.
”Wrong. In the world I came from, humans called me this. ──Demon King level, Yoki.”
So, she’s a reincarnation of Demonkind. It seems like talking won’t work. It’s heartbreaking to think that a classmate I’ve been learning with is actually a reincarnation of Demonkind.
”Yeah. While talking, I thought… you really are loved by the Godborn, right? I can feel it. That disgusting Godborn power flowing through you.”
Nijou moved.
A fierce flame tried to swallow me, but I swung my giant spear and cleared the flames. Just like the Ghost Knight extinguished the noble’s blue flames, I just copied it… but it seems to have worked well.
”Don’t you think if I kill you, who is loved by the Godborn, I can mess up their plans?”
While Shiragi was talking, Tōmi Marei was creating light magic bullets. It shouldn’t be hard to dodge, but they were tracking me like they were chasing me. I had no choice but to use my giant spear as a shield, but it was quite a shock.
”You seem to have defeated a Demon general class… I think stopping the Hero from growing here is why I reincarnated.”
Pillars of light fell one after another, piercing deep into the ground. If even one hits directly, it’s off to the afterlife.
Tōmi Marei. She was a current idol student and seemed to be a user of light magic. With long brown hair and an amazing figure, it was easy to believe she also worked as an actress. A strong magic user on top of a brilliant background, she’s quite a lucky person.
”Those double axes you’re carrying look like replicas of the weapons that an ogre had. Even if they were imperfect, for a human to defeat that… this is why I hate the Godborn power.”
Throwing a giant spear at Shiragi standing still. Ashihara, wearing armor, jumped in. He must have known he couldn’t stop it, but even with his body pierced, he risked his life to try to stop the spear’s force.
”Oh, you’re really trying hard even though it’s 6 against one?”
Shiragi had a relaxed look. I kicked Tatejima away with my twin axes, sending him flying to a distance.
”Did you really think 6 people could kill me?”
Magic is a pain, but for now, I don’t feel my life is in danger. The only remaining threats are Kajihira and Shiragi’s magic.
”I like a confident man. If you weren’t loved by Godborn, that is.”
A huge pillar of light came crashing down. I managed to block it with my twin axes, but then Kajihira showed off his superhuman speed──once I tried to block his greatsword, I was easily blown away. I can’t believe I lost in strength. It’s way stronger than when we fought at the Academy.
”You seemed confident in a strength match, but you lost, huh? I combined my madness magic that boosts physical ability with my amplification magic. Quite a good combo, right?”
Using my Battle Axe for support, I struggled to get back up.
”…So the amplification magic is the true nature of the illusion.”
”Yes. It’s a handy magic, isn’t it? It amplifies not just magic and physical ability, but also hostility, murderous intent, wariness, and jealousy… anything to the max, and I can control it as I wish. If you feel even a bit of fear towards me── you’ll never be able to go against me again.”
That’s some twisted magic. I can’t say I like it.
”Now, Kajihira. Please finish him off.”
In his crazed state, Kajihira raised his greatsword towards me.
In that moment──Kajihira’s body turned to stone.
”Haha. Now I’ve settled the score…”
Tatejima, lying on the ground, used petrification magic at the perfect moment. It seems he regained his sanity after being pushed away by my Battle Axe.
”Ms. Tōmi, handle this.”
A pillar of light pierces through Tatejima.
Before the petrification state wears off, it crushes Kajihira’s body.
Now there are only 3 left. Thanks to Tatejima, it’s easier to set up.
I jump into the fiery storm, smashing the light magic bullets with my Battle Axe… desperately closing in on Shiragi.
There’s no one left to protect her. The two women specialize in magic, so they can’t stop my attacks. This is checkmate.
As I swing the Battle Axe towards Shiragi’s slender neck──her figure vanishes like a phantom. I thought it was some kind of illusion magic, but no. It’s not magic. She moved with the speed of a big sister.
”How strange. Why did you think I was weak?”
Shiragi’s kick hits my stomach, and my vision blurs. I barely see that I got kicked away… this is tough. I didn’t expect to be countered in a head-on fight. I feel like I’m losing my confidence.
”You’re still alive after that. I might not want to kill you. It would be nice to take you home.”
Shiragi kicks my Battle Axe far away and looks down at me as I lie on the ground.
’Seraph’s blessing nullifies amplification magic.’
This is my only chance.
I spring up and push Shiragi down.
”Oh. Is this… maybe ‘Eros Magic’? A mere succubus’s magic can affect someone of my Demon King level…”
”You were a former Demon King, now reincarnated in a human body, right?”
With ‘Eros Magic’ finally landing, I can finally end this fight.
