Chapter 452 Sephie’s Choice (Part ③)
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
But that “bad” wasn’t truly bad—it wasn’t anywhere close to those yellow-haired punks.
Even if Sephie and Basara Toujou made up and decided to keep a proper mother-son relationship, Basara had no reason to stop Sephie from seeing other men.
Besides, Sephie was still a virgin, and Aki wasn’t planning any tricks behind the scenes.
The only issue was that, since Basara and Sephie were close in age and had become friends before this news came out, the situation was awkward for him to justify.
Otherwise, no matter the situation, he’d have every right to object.
The air was quiet at first, broken only by the clinking of cutlery.
The two leads stayed silent, and the others didn’t know how to break the ice.
Jin Toujou wanted to chat with Sephie, but she completely ignored him. After several failed tries, he took the hint and quietly drank and ate by himself.
Naruse Mio and Maria were basically the mood makers tonight. Seeing the awkwardness, the succubus loli was the first to stir things up.
With Naruse Mio’s help, the mood quickly lightened. At the very least, Basara Toujou and Sephie stopped being so tense that they couldn’t speak.
As dinner neared its end, the most important question could no longer be avoided.
Thankfully, over the course of the meal, Sephie and Basara had grown more familiar with each other. Though still a bit stiff, talk could at least flow.
”Basara… I’m sorry… I never came to see you all these years.”
Sephie lowered her head and said quietly.
Basara Toujou scratched his head, feeling embarrassed by her apology.
To be honest, growing up without a mother was tough. Children are the most sensitive, and even though Jin Toujou was a good father, there were gaps he couldn’t fill.
It was only thanks to Basara’s naturally tough personality—and his father’s name as the War God—that the worst things never happened to him. Otherwise, the world might have gained one more super-villain.
”It’s okay. I’ve let it go.”
Basara couldn’t say it hadn’t affected him, but at this point, after seeing Sephie’s honesty, the last trace of anger in his heart had finally faded.
Since there was also Raphaelene, Basara decided to add the name when talking to her, though the awkwardness in his tone was clear to everyone present.
That was only natural. Meeting a woman for the first time, even knowing she was his birth mother, it was still hard to call her “Mom” smoothly.
”I imagine you had your reasons too, Mom… Sephie… Mom. And besides, you were a victim when you had me.”
That was the real point—when Basara was born, Sephie hadn’t been happy; she’d been angry.
By the time she realized the child was innocent, it was too late to see him.
Basara’s understanding nature eased most of Sephie’s worries, but also made her feel even more indebted to him.
”Th-then, Basara, I don’t have much to offer, but this weapon was made from a rare Underworld ore—please take it.”
Sephie steadied herself, remembering that the gift she’d prepared still hadn’t been given.
As she spoke, she made appear a thin black katana.
The blade was marked with detailed patterns, its edge shining with a dark black shine, the handle polished to a jade-like smoothness. Overall, it looked stylish yet fierce.
This weapon had been Sephie’s in her youth—made with the best materials and workmanship—but since it was designed for a woman, it seemed somewhat too thin.
Especially since Basara Toujou was used to using the wide-bladed Brynhildr. The black sword looked nice, but he wasn’t particularly interested.
”No thanks, Mo—Mom. I’ve got Brynhildr. This would be wasted on me.”
As he spoke, he made appear a huge silver-white greatsword.
Green Spiritual Power flowed across its surface, and a short trace of Demon King-class power radiated outward.
Aki looked at him—his strength had indeed grown quickly. As expected of a four-bloodline prodigy.
The power of God and Demon within him hadn’t even woken up yet, yet just his human and dragon bloodlines had already pushed him to Demon King-class at this age.
If all four bloodlines were fully grown, Basara might even pass him.
Sephie was serious about matters of fighting. Seeing that Basara truly didn’t need the weapon, she didn’t push the issue—though she silently decided to find a better gift next time.
She put away the black blade and visibly relaxed, beginning to talk normally with Basara.
Mostly about his childhood, sometimes asking about his attitude toward her.
Aki and the others didn’t interrupt, letting the two talk.
After over an hour, when talk finally ran dry, Sephie asked hesitantly, “Basara… do you… want me to be your mother?”
”Ahem…” Aki interrupted. “Be clearer, or people might misunderstand.”
Following his look to Jin Toujou across the table, Sephie quickly added, “Basara, I mean I want to do my duties as a mother—not that I’m getting together with that Toujou guy.”
Jin Toujou, sharp as ever, had already noticed something odd between Aki and Sephie.
A flash of disappointment crossed his mind, quickly replaced by a strong wish to watch the drama unfold.
He looked from Basara to Aki, then to Sephie, and shrugged. “Don’t mind me. Basara’s almost an adult anyway—I probably won’t be home more than once a year from now on.”
”Like you came home often before…”
Basara rolled his eyes and said quietly.
Ever since third grade, when he could take care of himself, Jin had barely been around—just two or three visits a year.
”Sephie… Mom, like Dad said, I’m almost an adult—you don’t really need to…”
Seeing Sephie’s expression fall, Basara quickly explained, “I’m not blaming you. I’m willing to accept you—it’s just that even in normal homes, kids grow up and leave. It’s hard to keep living with your parents…”
That was true enough. Most people, once they could live on their own, didn’t want to stay with their folks.
On the other hand, Sephie wanted to be a mother, but if she actually had to take care of Basara, she wouldn’t know how.
Fighting? Sure. Cooking and laundry? She’d make things worse.
”So… it really was too late…”
Looking up at Basara, who was taller than her now, Sephie sighed quietly.
Some things, once missed, could never be made up for.
Her child had grown up. As a mother, she should let go—especially since she’d never been there before. Trying to tell him what to do now…
She wasn’t that bold.
”Alright. If you ever need my help, just ask.”
”Of course, Sephie Mom.”
In the end, Sephie and Basara Toujou accepted each other as mother and son.
Though they’d made up, it didn’t actually change anything about their daily lives.
”Alright, let’s move on to talking about Raphaelene’s rescue.”
Seeing that Sephie wasn’t stuck on the matter, Aki let out a breath of relief and turned the talk to her other major worry.
Raphaelene wasn’t just Sephie’s burden—she was Chisato Hasegawa and Basara Toujou’s too.
Basara had only recently learned about one of his mothers being in prison, and his nature meant he had to save her.
But Chisato Hasegawa and Sephie had spent over a decade worrying about it, and even now, against the Ten Core Gods, they had no way to free Raphaelene.
Aki’s topic shift worked—Sephie, Basara, Naruse Mio, and Maria were all drawn in.
But Jin Toujou, who hadn’t seen the show he’d hoped for, wasn’t fooled. On purpose, he steered the talk back.
”Raphaelene’s rescue isn’t urgent. The few of us aren’t enough—we need more hands.”
He fixed his eyes on Aki and Sephie, his tone light and teasing. “Before that, Aki, don’t you think you should explain… what exactly your relationship with Sephie is?”
”What relationship?”
If anything, since Sephie was connected to Naruse Mio and Maria, she could even be seen as Aki’s aunt?
The table went quiet. Everyone except Basara reacted differently.
Basara, in his view, saw Sephie as someone who’d simply happened to run into Aki during the Underworld event, staying for a while because of Naruse Mio, and was just waiting to meet with her son.
Hearing this, Sephie startled on instinct, pulling her hand away from Aki’s under the table and moving away.
Realizing she’d overreacted, a warm flush crept across her beautiful face.
Aki, however, took it in stride. He hadn’t planned to keep it hidden forever—it was just that Basara had just met Sephie, so he’d wanted to wait a few days.
Since Jin had brought it up, he’d lay it out clearly.
”I’m going after Sephie. And she’s almost agreed.”
Ignoring Sephie’s warning look, Aki said their relationship directly.
As if knowing Basara wouldn’t believe it, he wrapped an arm around Sephie’s thin waist—though when he leaned in for a kiss, Sephie’s soft hand pressed against his face and pushed him back.
Aki’s plans weren’t a secret to Naruse Mio and Maria.
The succubus loli was practically laughing with joy, her black heart-shaped tail swishing wildly. If she weren’t scared of Aki’s iron fist, she’d have pulled out her phone to record everything.
Naruse Mio, meanwhile, looked at her aunt—who shared nearly half her features—and let out a helpless sigh.
She didn’t know how far Aki and Sephie had gone, but from their expressions, they were pretty much settled.
Basara Toujou finally understood. He’d always known Aki had no limits—his relationships were a tangled mess.
He’d thought his two cousins, Naruse Mio and Maria, were the most deeply mixed up—but now even his newly met mother hadn’t gotten away.
His vision went dark. That handsome face of his so-called friend suddenly looked extremely punchable.
And so, he acted on the sudden feeling.
This time, Basara didn’t care whether he could win. If he didn’t throw a punch, there was no way to let out this anger.
BOOM!!!
Brynhildr appeared again, and a thick wave of green Spiritual Power formed a huge crescent-shaped shockwave that flew toward Aki.
The fine wooden table split in two. Everyone but Aki jumped from their seats, leaping back.
Facing Basara’s full attack, Aki gave a helpless smile and chose to take the hit head-on.
He’d expected this reaction, and under the conditions, he couldn’t really fight back—at least not to the point of leaving Basara half-dead.
He’d planned to get Basara into a fight yesterday as an excuse to land a few hits, then call it even. But Basara had just… refused to fight.
With that plan gone, all he could do now was serve as a still punching bag.
Not that Aki would just lie down and take it—and honestly, that wouldn’t have satisfied Basara anyway.
If Aki offered no fight, Basara couldn’t go all out, and naturally, the anger wouldn’t go away.
Like this—even going full force, Basara couldn’t actually hurt Aki, but seeing him get roughed up? That was satisfying.
BOOM… CRASH… CLANG…
The fight lasted over fifteen minutes. The once-fancy living room was reduced to rubble.
If Sephie hadn’t put up a barrier, the whole house—and even a kilometer around it—would’ve been flattened.
Demon King-class power could easily destroy a city; only God-tier strength could keep the damage to just the living room.
Of course, that was also thanks to Aki actively stopping the blasts, and Basara not on purpose causing more damage.
”Hah…”
Dust settled. Basara let out a long breath and put away Brynhildr. He looked at Aki—torn clothes, face dirty with ash—then turned and walked away without a word.
”Cough… cough…”
Waving away the dust, Aki called after him, a bit roughed up, “This settles it! You can’t hold this against me later!”
Basara didn’t bother answering. He’d seen the pattern by now: as long as there was a beautiful woman—especially a powerful Goddess—Aki would make his move.
His other mother, Raphaelene, was probably on Aki’s list too. No wonder he’d been so eager to plan a rescue.
Aki didn’t know Basara’s thoughts. If he had, he’d definitely have said…
Damn, you’re sharp. Got it in one.
But so what if he found out? He’d just be a punching bag again. Big deal—a wrecked living room and a ruined outfit. Compared to getting a Goddess? Worth it.
Basara gave no answer, so Aki continued. “Ignoring me won’t work either. If you pull this again, I will fight back. I’m serious.”
Basara stopped mid-step, a vein beating at his temple. If only he were stronger, he’d march back and have round two.
At the same time, his earlier wish to just coast through life vanished.
Even if just to punch Aki properly, he needed to get stronger.
”Looks like little Basara’s got his drive back.”
Jin Toujou, first to notice the change in Basara’s attitude—fathers just knew—grinned and slung an arm around his son’s shoulder.
”We’re heading back. As for Raphaelene’s rescue, we’ll talk after your break.”
Finals were coming up. Though they weren’t in a rush, a few days wouldn’t hurt.
Once Kuoh Academy’s break started, everyone would have more freedom to move.
Besides, Chisato Hasegawa was the most important member for saving Raphaelene. Without her, things would be much more troublesome.
After the Toujou father and son left, Sephie took down the Barrier, shot Aki a look, and turned to go back to her room.
Aki smiled and quickly followed.
He knew he’d made her angry. Even if the result was good, he still had to smooth things over.
Once they’d gone, Yubelluna and the others came in to start cleaning and repairs. A single living room was manageable for them. If the damage had been larger, they’d have to tell the Underworld and call devils working in building and decoration.
Aki followed Sephie back to the room, but before he could even wash up, Liala grabbed him with a curious expression and started asking questions. The fight had been so loud that everyone in the house had clearly felt it, even with the Barrier holding in the energy.
Cornered by Liala, Aki could only tell what had happened. From the other side, Naruse Mio and Maria were also surrounded, like storytellers holding court.
After hearing the whole story, the women’s reactions were largely the same—they all agreed Aki deserved it.
But with this noise, there was indeed no longer any wall between him and Sephie.
Once Sephie’s anger cooled, she would probably begin cultivation with Aki.
It wouldn’t take longer than the rescue of Raphaelene. They could already imagine exactly what Aki would say when the time came.
Facing the Ten Core Gods to save Raphaelene—it was only natural to power up before the battle. With that excuse, Sephie would surely give in with a little push.
But things happened faster than they expected—much faster.
That very night, Aki stayed in Sephie and Liala’s room.
Under Liala’s teasing, Aki couldn’t hold back and began cultivation right in front of Sephie.
At first, Aki was worried Sephie might be upset. But to his surprise, she said nothing—just watched quietly.
After Liala finished once, Sephie willingly took off her sexy armor and pressed herself against Aki from behind.
Aki hadn’t been satisfied yet—he’d been about to push through and finish a round of cultivation. Seeing this, he simply moved targets.
”Sephie… are you not angry anymore?”
They held each other, skin to skin. Feeling Sephie’s smooth, firm flesh, Little Aki grew even harder.
The hot, thick Great Dragon slipped between Sephie’s long, thin thighs. Surrounded by her soft, tender flesh, it beat with pleasure.
”I wasn’t angry in the first place…”
Sephie shot Aki a tempting look. She really hadn’t been angry—just shy.
In all her years as a Valkyrie, she had never experienced such an awkward situation.
If Basara hadn’t attacked so quickly, she would have fled the scene first.
And when the fight ended, Aki’s words—as cheeky as they were—had pushed away her last remaining hesitation.
Since Basara hadn’t objected, he had quietly accepted her relationship with Aki. That meant it wouldn’t affect their mother-son bond going forward.
