Chapter 63 Miyajima Tsubaki
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
Based on the martial arts framework Rias had explained, and filtered through his own understanding, Aki had come to call that specific type of internal energy “Qi¹.”
In this world, “special energy” took many forms. Different paths of cultivation extracted different abilities-including, but not limited to, Mana, Cursed Power, Aura, Spiritual Power, and Qi. Before him, Miyajima Sosuke was swinging a bamboo sword so fast it left a blur of afterimages. He had already begun to peer across the threshold of Qi. The day that energy manifested clearly within his body would be the day he ascended to the Rank of Grandmaster-attaining B-rank strength.
Facing a torrential storm of strikes, Aki retreated with tight, rhythmic steps, dodging the onslaught. Simultaneously, he circulated his Mana. Insight Eye and Basic Body Mastery surged with renewed power. Fighting barehanded against a weapon was a losing game; Aki’s physical durability hadn’t reached the point of being “invulnerable to blades” just yet. Fortunately, his opponent was only using a bamboo sword. Even if he had to take a hit directly, it wouldn’t be a deal-breaker.
The thought of simply bulldozing through with raw stats flickered in his mind, but he suppressed it. If he won that way, Miyajima Sosuke might not say it, but he’d be bitter. It wouldn’t help build the rapport he needed to dig for intel. After a frantic three-minute dance of evasion, Aki finally saw his opening. He moved exactly when his opponent was forced to take a breath-caught in that vacuum where the old momentum had died and the new strength hadn’t yet surged.
Aki kicked off the floor with his right foot. He closed the gap instantly, appearing before Miyajima Sosuke like a ghost. The solid wood floor let out a haunting creak as he balled his right hand into a fist, putting seventy percent of his power into a strike aimed squarely at the man’s conditioned abdominals. With the sheer speed and force granted by Basic Body Mastery, Miyajima Sosuke didn’t stand a chance of reacting. The punch landed. He nearly doubled over right then and there.
”Guh…!”
Gritting his teeth against the searing pain, Sosuke tried to retreat. He needed to reset the distance and use the length of his blade to take back the lead. Aki felt a flash of genuine respect. Taking a punch like that and still trying to fight? His read had been right: Sosuke was practically B-rank; he just lacked real-world combat seasoning. The man was impressive. It made sense why he’d ignore his gorgeous, ripe wife to obsess over the Way of the Sword.
Admiration over. Aki gave him zero breathing room. He unleashed a barrage of close-quarters techniques he’d learned from that white-haired loli-skills forged through countless “lessons” where he was the one getting thrashed. He kept his output at seventy percent.
Not out of mercy, but because in a real fight, you never go “all out” unless you’re guaranteed a kill. You always keep a little gas in the tank. If you don’t, you end up like Sosuke: wide open and helpless the moment someone catches your rhythm.
In a true life-or-death struggle, people often “sell” a fake opening. If the opponent bites and commits everything to an attack, they’re finished. Sosuke’s kiai² and his predictable strikes were evidence of his lack of experience. A kiai might boost your spirit, but it’s a telegraph to your enemy. A seasoned killer just draws their blade and ends it-maybe with a low grunt at most.
Aki avoided any lethal or crippling zones. Sosuke struggled to hold on for another thirty seconds… or rather, after taking a dozen more heavy blows to his stomach and back, Miyajima Sosuke finally broke. He collapsed to the floor. Once Aki had gotten inside, Sosuke hadn’t been able to mount a single decent counter-attack. As the master went down, Aki’s instinct took over. He reflexively raised his foot, aiming a heavy stomp right at Sosuke’s head.
The onlookers watched in stunned silence. They’d imagined Sosuke might lose, but not this decisively. Not this brutally. They were too paralyzed to even think about stopping Aki’s “assault.” Sosuke stared up at the rapidly appearing shadow and instinctively closed his eyes. He waited. The pain never came. He opened his eyes to see Aki holding his foot just inches away, checking his momentum at the very last second.
Aki let out a dry cough and slowly pulled his leg back. “Instructor Miyajima, the floor is cold. You should probably get up,” Aki said.
Sosuke’s face turned a deep, embarrassed red. He scrambled to get to his feet, but the agony racking his body turned his movements into a clumsy, distorted mess. He couldn’t quite make it up on the first try. He whipped his head around, glaring at his students.
”You bunch of morons! What are you just standing there for?!” Sosuke barked.
The disciples finally snapped out of it, rushing forward to help their beaten master.
”Instructor Miyajima, please forgive my lack of restraint,” Aki said. Looking at how battered the man was, Aki realized he might have gone a bit overboard. He wasn’t here to shut down a dojo. It might have been better to lose by a hair to save Sosuke’s pride. Aki shook his head slightly. (Unfortunately, I’m not yet skilled enough to perfectly control a fight to that degree…)
Once he was steady on his feet, Sosuke waved off his students. “No. I should be the one thanking Uesugi-kun for holding back,” Sosuke said. He was a doting father, but he wasn’t stupid. Aki’s fluid, cold-blooded style was the mark of a predator. In terms of raw combat experience, he’d been completely outclassed. Sosuke had competed in tournaments since he was fourteen, but compared to Aki, he felt like a hothouse flower.
”There are too many distractions here,” Sosuke conceded. “Let’s go to the quiet room in the back to discuss my daughter’s situation.”
Aki nodded, grabbed his shirt from the floor, and followed the limping master toward the rear gardens. Watching Aki’s strong, confident back, Miyuna’s eyes were wide with a predatory light. She’d thought he was just a “pretty boy,” but there was a vicious wolf hiding underneath.
This was… incredible. She felt herself getting wet. If they weren’t in public, she’d have tackled him right there, burying her face in that firm chest. She wanted to kiss that handsome face while tracing those rock-hard abs, and then she wanted to feel that “heavy artillery” inside her, giving her a storm of its own.
A student nearby muttered bitterly, “Hey, Miyuna, quit drooling. He’s gone.”
”Hah! What’s the matter? Jealous?” Miyuna asked.
”Jealous? Please. A scrawny kid like that? He couldn’t satisfy a woman like you,” the student replied.
Aki wasn’t short-he was average for his age-but compared to the bulked-up gym rats in the dojo, he looked lean. Miyuna put her hands on her hips and sneered. “That ‘scrawny kid’ could break three of you at once. And besides… I was looking. He’s packing way more heat than any of you losers.” She glanced down at their crotches with pure contempt. The guys, all harboring secret crushes on her, turned beet-red. They eventually slunk away in defeat.
Walking past the manicured gardens with their trickling streams, they reached the Shōwa Era houses where the Miyajima family lived. Aki and Sosuke entered a quiet guest room lined with tatami.
Suddenly, a wooden door slid open, revealing a woman with a lush, voluptuous figure and a strikingly seductive face. Her narrow, upturned phoenix eyes simmered with an unspoken invitation. Her deep purple hair was gathered into a long, thick braid that draped over her right shoulder, resting against the high curve of her chest.
A lavender, form-fitting knit sweater clung to her, stretched tight over a pair of heavy, gravity-defying breasts. They looked like two ripe, honey-filled melons, standing firm despite their sheer size.
Her waist was so slender it looked like it might snap under the weight of her own curves. Below that, her hips flared out into two perfect, moon-like mounds-wide, firm, and soft. Her jeans were painted onto her long, shapely legs, tracing every curve from her heavy thighs down to her elegant calves. It was a sight that made the heart skip a beat.
