Chapter 277 Its True Identity is

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 ”…Alright, no one’s around.”

We slip out into the forest through a hidden spatial passage, trying not to draw any attention.

I’d set up passages all around the forest for emergencies, but I never thought they’d actually come in handy.

The 4 of us step out into the forest and hustle our way south.

My companions are 3 people: Momoka, because she can use telepathy to keep track of the mysterious group we’re chasing, and to communicate with Ms. Iko who stayed behind at the mansion. Plus, if we need to make a quick escape, she’s got the muscle to carry us all at top speed.

”Momoka, I’m counting on you when the time comes.”

”Leave it to me, I can get us out of a battle zone in 3 seconds flat.”

”Like I said before, try not to go all out, okay?”

Momoka can cancel out the recoil from using her powers with the Crimson, but that only applies to her. The rest of us would get caught in the aftermath if she goes full throttle, so I keep nagging her about it. That’s when a voice chimes in from the side.

”All we can do is hope it doesn’t come to that.”

The voice belongs to Lewya, and her expression is a whirlwind of emotions.

Golarf-san seems to have a soft spot for Lewya, which is why he might listen if Lewya speaks up.

”Complicated, as expected? The idea that your own uncle might be involved in dirty business…”

”Of course it is. Would you rather it be something worse?”

With that, Lewya turns to address our guide, Estesia-san.

The third person is Estesia-san, who volunteered herself, not chosen by me.

”Hah, you wouldn’t know just from the general location, right? If that spatial area is as big as a castle, then it’s a whole different story. And if I miss out on another good spot here, I’ll regret it forever!”

 ”What’s that? The good part?”

 ”It’s none of Neil-sama’s business!”

I can’t help but wonder why Estesia-san, who seemed to hate me so much, would volunteer to guide us. But even if I asked, she probably wouldn’t tell me. Right now, Golarf-san is more pressing.

”Neil-sama, I got a message from Niya. That group split up in the middle and are heading south through the forest, moving cautiously at a snail’s pace.”

”So they’re sneaking south, does that mean they’re close to their destination? This stinks.”

”Estesia! Can your magic sense track that group? If they’re on our trail, are they heading in the same direction as our target?”

”Bingo! I don’t know how, but it looks like they’ve got our exact location.”

”This is the worst… We’re not going to make it in time, Neil.”

 ”There’s no choice, Momoka!”

 ”Got it.”

At my signal, Momoka drops the sack she’s been carrying to the ground.

Inside is the Gioniium infused with Crimson from yesterday’s experiment, finely crushed after Mei said she needed more for verification – nearly half of my personal limit.

As Momoka places her hand on the crushed Gioniium, the Crimson climbs up her arm, turning her pure white hair a deep crimson.

 ”Okay, absorbed it all.”

”Good, leave the sack here and grab Lewya and Estesia-san, I’ll cling to your back.”

 ”Got it.”

”Hey, are we really doing this?”

”It’s an emergency, what else can we do?”

”──Why do you two look so tense?”

Estesia-san, who wasn’t in the frontier settlement during the attack, tilts her head, unfamiliar with Momoka’s full strength.

With no time to waste and no time for mental prep, Momoka hoists them up, and I cling to her back with all my might.

”Momoka, if Crimson starts running low in an emergency, feel free to take from me without asking. Just think of me as your battery. And please, for the love of everything, watch your speed! I’m serious about this!”

 ”Got it.”

But does she really understand? Her calm reply just makes me more anxious.

 ”Alright, here we go!”

As soon as I brace myself, the scenery blurs and accelerates, and the 3 of us let out pathetic screams.

Scary, scary, scary, scary, scary, scary, scary, SCARY!!

This is nothing compared to those thrill rides I used to go on!

There’s no stable platform or safety bar, and we’re weaving between trees like it’s a deadly obstacle course. This is far beyond just thrilling.

If I get thrown off, that’s game over──it feels like a fast track to hell.

 ”Ugh, uooo!!”

If I pass out, I’ll die. I yell to push the fear down and keep myself from blacking out, all while Estesia-san’s laughter rings in my ears.
