Volume 6 Chapter 21 Shiori-chan Treats the ‘Emperor of the Abyss’ and ‘Witch of Destruction’ Like Heavy Machinery
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
The Gobelspire Mountain Range stands as a natural barrier between the McGaref Region and the Gonan Kingdom. Its rugged terrain and sheer cliffs make it unsuitable for trade routes, forcing travelers to take long detours.
But with Rira-chan’s sudden idea to dig a tunnel through here, McGaref could reap immense profits. Food imports would become easier, and it might even alleviate Lesta’s hardships.
”Hmm, I see,” Shiori-chan nodded thoughtfully, gazing at the mountains.
”Takumi-kun, these mountains are probably made of limestone or something similar. You know Akiyoshidai?”
”Ah, the place famous for its limestone caves in japan?”
”Exactly. Just a moment.”
Shiori-chan unpacked a carefully wrapped package from the carriage, revealing a set of reagents.
”Hey, Chinatsu-chan or Haruka-chan, could you grab a sample for me?”
”Sure thing! Hang on!”
Chinatsu-chan swung Chisame, slicing through a nearby rock, which tumbled down.
”Here you go!”
”Thanks. Now, if I add this hydrochloric acid…”
As Shiori-chan poured the liquid, the rock fizzled and began to dissolve. We all stared, eyes wide.
”Shiori-chan, what’s…?”
”Yep, that’s it.”
Wait, what’s it? Shiori-chan skipped the explanation, nodding to herself as if everything made perfect sense.
”Haruka-chan, could you summon Dora-chan?”
”Sure! Dora-chan, it’s your time to shine!”
Haruka-chan called out, and Dora-chan appeared—not in its full, ominous glory, but as a large bird-sized figure. T/N: “Emperor of the Abyss” Dora-chan explained its first appearance was to make a grand impression.
”Halka, I’ve missed you,” Dora-chan said, sounding almost playful.
”Sorry, Dora-chan. Shiori-chan needs your help,” Haruka-chan explained.
”Hmm… What does the Sage of the Empire require?”
”You can transform into anything in this world, right? Even liquids?”
”Indeed. For about a minute, though I need a ten-minute cooldown. Steel, flames—I could annihilate an army.”
T/N: “Sage of the Empire” is a new title for Shiori-chan, referring to her strategic mind.
”That’s plenty. Can you become this?” Shiori-chan held up the test tube.
”A liquid? No problem…”
Dora-chan tasted the liquid, seemingly unfazed.
”Wait before transforming. I need to calculate the angle and trajectory from the map.”
Oh no… I finally understood what she was planning. Shiori-chan, are you seriously going to attempt this in one go? My unspoken protest went unheard as she confidently marked the rock.
”Dora-chan, same size as before. Pierce this rock and go as far as you can.”
”Hmm? Piercing the mountain? Even I can’t collapse an entire range…”
”It’s fine, it’s fine. Go!”
With Shiori-chan’s signal, Dora-chan, now a blob of acid, plunged into the limestone. Whoosh! Just as I’d feared, a tunnel began to form.
Scaya-san and Neige-san looked stunned. I couldn’t blame them—I was just as baffled. Someone get them a book on tunnel excavation.
”Wow, that’s amazing! Not something humans could do,” Chinatsu-chan remarked cheerfully.
After a minute, Dora-chan returned.
”Sage… What just happened?”
”Perfect! Haruka-chan, during Dora-chan’s cooldown, use Destruction Magic to clear any remaining debris.”
”Uh, okay…”
The Emperor of the Abyss and the Witch of Destruction (Rank 86) exchanged bewildered glances. Shiori-chan, oblivious, dove back into her calculations. She’s in her own world now.
”Dora-chan, keep going until we break through. Don’t worry, it’ll end eventually.”
”Uh… How many times, exactly?”
”About twenty, I think.”
The blue-haired mad scientist smiled sweetly, making an absurd request. Honestly, who’s the real “Emperor of the Abyss” here? And so, Dora-chan and Haruka-chan were put to work, tirelessly carving out the tunnel.

We walked through the newly created tunnel, confirming it led safely to the Gonan Kingdom. Dora-chan’s hole was large enough for carriages to pass, complete with drainage ditches.
”It’s chilly in here. No exhaust fumes, so ventilation shouldn’t be an issue.”
Shiori-chan inspected the path, with Haruka-chan destroying any obstacles. Adding magic stone lighting would turn this into a proper road.
”This will skyrocket Southern McGaref’s value,” Neige-san remarked.
”A border town with inns would thrive here,” Shiori-chan agreed.
”To think someone would create a path through the Gobelspire Range like this…”
”Lesta has similar mountains. A road there would help everyone too.”
Neige-san, Scaya-san, and Eil-Eil were still in disbelief. Meanwhile, the Japanese group was ecstatic.
”This is incredible! It really looks like a tunnel!”
”Yep, thanks to Dora-chan shaping it like a kamaboko. T/N: Kamaboko is a Japanese steamed fish cake, often shaped like a tunnel. Thanks, Dora-chan!”
”Hmph. Nothing is beyond my capabilities.”
Praised by Shiori-chan, Dora-chan seemed pleased. After an hour’s walk, we emerged on the Gonan Kingdom side. The sudden appearance of the tunnel caused an uproar.

A hundred Kingdom soldiers, hastily gathered, surrounded us.
”Who are you, bastards!”
”Nice to meet you. I’m McGaref Council and Seroncouncil’s chairman, Takumi Nasu,” I said with a calm tone.
”…Huh?”
The captain’s face twisted in confusion. “What is this guy saying?”
”Don’t be ridiculous. Takumi Nasu is known as the ruler of McGaref. You couldn’t possibly be him—you look too weak.”
”Well, this guy who seems like he’d lose to a goblin with a combat power of 1 is indeed Takumi-kun,” Chinatsu-chan said, stepping forward with a slight sting in her words. T/N: Combat power of 1 refers to extremely low strength.
I sighed. True, I’m a weakling who can’t even venture into the lower layers of a dungeon, but combat power 1 is harsh. I’m probably at least a 4, right? Chinatsu-chan then drew Chisame, and with a sharp ching, the captain’s goatee was sliced clean off.
”By the way, I’m Chinatsu Asakura, ranked 12th. I’ll spare you for insulting my Master—consider your beard payment enough,” she said, her voice dripping with faux sweetness.
”What…”
The captain clutched his severed goatee, stunned into silence. Witnessing such a flawless iaijutsu technique left him no choice but to believe. As for Chinatsu-chan insulting me… ah, right. “I’d love a fierce punishment in bed… ♡”
”S-so… what about this tunnel?” the captain stammered.
”Oh, we made it,” Shiori-chan and Haruka-chan chimed, raising their hands cheerfully.
The captain’s eyes widened, and he could only gape or stammer. Poor guy—this was far beyond what a border guard captain could handle. Half his troops had already fled, and some were crying. Can’t blame them, though…
”Haruka-chan, going full-spec with Dora-chan would be overkill,” I intervened.
”Aw, but they called you weak, Takumi-kun! It made me mad too,” she pouted.
”Indeed. Insulting Takumi-dono, my master’s master, is akin to insulting me, the ‘Emperor of the Abyss,’” Dora-chan rumbled.
”Agreed. I’m a witch, and this woman is ranked. If you want a fight, prepare for annihilation,” added Chinatsu-chan.
”Now, now, everyone, hold back. We’re here for trade negotiations, not war,” I said, stepping forward to play the peacemaker.
Extending my hand to the captain with a warm smile, I continued, “So, I’m the real Takumi Nasu. Could you please summon the highest-ranking noble in the area immediately?”
The poor captain could only nod frantically, his face pale and his legs trembling.
