Chapter 121-2

”Uh… what was that?”
”It was my stomach growling. I was trying to get myself to eat less, you know?”
”Ah… you did say that”
Iris was relieved at the expected answer, but she quickly spoke to Ms. Aeris with a worried look on her face.
”You look really thin. I think you should eat properly.”
”But…”
”…”
Ms. Aeris hesitates to Iris’s suggestion to eat a good amount, saying that the situation hasn’t improved.
Iris glances around, then raises her right hand, holding her thumb and pinky finger up.
This is a signal to me, telling me to get ready to leave the room.
Even though I’m transparent, I can’t pass through objects, so this is a precaution to make sure I don’t get left behind in the room.
To show that I understand, I tug on Iris’s right ear with a transparent magic thread…and Iris tells Ms. Aeris that she is going to leave.
”Well… I’m going to change clothes first. I’ll be back later.”
”…Yes”
Ms. Aeris gives a slightly vague reply, as if she doesn’t want to show herself like this.
Iris says “I’ll definitely come back” and leaves the room, and I follow her.
* * *
After leaving Ms. Aeris’s room, Iris heads to her own room, and when she makes sure no one is watching, she opens the door wide for us to enter easily.
Then we enter her room, and since we told the maids we didn’t need help changing clothes, there are only 3 of us in the room.
”It’s okay to show yourself now. There shouldn’t be anywhere to hide and eavesdrop.”
Iris says that, but since Ms. Aeris’s case, this house is probably on high alert, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they had set some kind of trap to gather information.
So, we put up a double layer of Magic Armor to enclose the area and make it soundproof before Iris lifts the invisibility spell.
As we appear, Iris looks at Seria and asks.
”That…Seria’s older sister also seems to have been affected by the petrification curse, and I heard that she broke her petrified arm… Seria, could you heal her?”
Well, the first thing to check is probably that.
In response to that question, Seria gives a difficult look and replies like this.
”I don’t know”
”Probably, huh?”
I muttered to her reply.
If Ms. Aeris’s broken arm is considered an injury, then Seria’s “Commercial Recovery” healing effect should work, just like when it was confirmed to work.
The problem is…if it’s not considered an injury.
Even if the petrified arm was a target for the curse removal, it might be out of the target range because it was separated from the body.
”I haven’t seen where a ‘thing’ has been fixed, though”
”Such…”
When I conveyed my concern, Iris knelt down in that spot.
She had decided to put the person to sleep before removing the curse, so she was going to say that the method would make the magic item disappear.
Then she thought she could make up any excuse about Ms. Aeris’s curse being lifted.
She thought the difficulty of the curse removal had dropped, but now this has happened, so she probably thinks it’s a big mental blow for her.
However…Seria spoke up as if she remembered something here.
”Ah…arms separated from the body might be treated as objects, but if ‘Commercial Recovery’ can recover the missing part, it might be possible to heal it”
”Really!?”
While surprised and hoping, Iris looked up at Seria, and Seria answered with a lack of confidence, but still like this.
”If I recall correctly, in the dungeon, the people I healed were in a dangerous state due to poison or bleeding. But after the treatment, they were as healthy as before they were injured, and if the lost blood was replenished…the missing part might also recover similarly”
”Ah, come to think of it”
Her comments reminded me too.
It’s true that after that Mr. Brandon, who had undergone Seria’s treatment, said that it was the same as before he was injured.
Is there a good chance that if that happens, the results will be as expected by Seria?
After hearing this story, Iris…turned her raised face down again.
”I don’t want to cause trouble with Seria’s power, but I’ll definitely thank you… Please, help my big sister.”
When I heard those words, I looked at Seria… She had a strange look on her face.
While I was wondering why she had that expression, Seria asked Iris with a serious face.
”My Commercial Recovery needs Mr. Koji’s strength, and I belong to Mr. Koji in the first place, so it’s fine if Mr. Koji gives the order… but there’s one thing I’d like to ask”
”What is it?”
”When you met your parents again, your mother said ‘if anything happens to you,’ right? And it seems like you acted because of that.”
”Ah”
Iris and my voices overlapped.
We could predict the next line that would come out, and as expected, Seria continued speaking.
”So… You knew that Elder Sister was cursed before you left home, and you were looking for a way to break the curse in Dungeon City, right? Just like me”
Oops, got found out.
Since we had the same goal of finding a way to break the curse, and Iris had made a prior arrangement, Seria’s turn might have been put off… or maybe, it might have been impossible to achieve that goal.
I can’t deal with injuries, but I definitely can’t handle curses, so I want to be as friendly as possible with Seria, just in case.
That’s why I didn’t want Seria to find out she was being put off… Iris understood that too, and considering the criminal hasn’t been caught, she can’t afford to make Seria unhappy either.
Now, what to do.
