Volume 1 Chapter 15 Madam Killer II
Edited by: Kanaa-senpai
In this world, there are no refrigerators, so people don’t care much about taste—they just want food that lasts.
At least, the commoners don’t seem to think about making food delicious.
They have plenty of wheat, so they don’t worry about starving, but they get sick of eating nothing but bread.
For commoners, just adding a pinch of salt makes bread a feast.
Rich families sometimes put olive oil on their bread, but that’s about as luxurious as it gets.
In Toyata Village, they sometimes eat wild plants or river shellfish.
Sadly, they just boil everything. It’s not tasty at all.
Salted meat is a treasure, eaten only during festivals.
Now I understand why everyone was so happy to eat the ham without washing the salt off.
But honestly, you have to remove the salt from the ham.
I want the people here to know how good ham can really be.
(If I came all the way to another world, I might as well share that knowledge.)
Come to think of it, my mom used to watch me with a warm smile whenever I bought chicken breast with my allowance and did weird stuff in the kitchen on my days off.
(I have to show everyone the true power of ham—maybe as a way of repaying my mom, who I might never see again.)
After going to Raia-Raia’s house, I’ll bring some to Mr. Munin, the leatherworker.
But first, I’ll head back to the blacksmith’s and get things ready.
Mr. Munin is only 22, but he’s a genius craftsman trained at a royal capital workshop.
Mr. Zenom calls him a beginner, but dwarves have weird standards—he’s definitely top-class by human measures.
He’s a bit of a weirdo, and the whole village knows he’s jealous.
He’s tall and handsome—even I can admit that—but something about him seems like he could snap. It’s a little scary.
(Not that I care much about Mr. Munin’s looks.)
Ms. Flare is known as the most beautiful wife in the village. She married Mr. Munin three years ago.
She’s about to turn 20—a young wife who’s clearly grown out of her teenage years in a good way.
From every angle, she radiates the charisma of a full-grown woman.
The pheromones she gives off have all the village men completely spellbound.
I get why Mr. Munin’s worried.
But Ms. Flare herself seems pretty reserved.
(Is it the men’s fault for getting caught in her pheromone trap without even realizing it?)
She really is a bewitching beauty.
Her semi-long hair has a light wave.
I thought her fiery red hair looked familiar—it turns out she’s the cousin of the red-haired Ani-Ani.
If it runs in the family, maybe Mr. Laken had red hair before he went bald.
She’s got thick eyebrows, double eyelids, and long eyelashes that make her almond-shaped eyes look huge.
A slightly hooked nose, full glossy lips—
Every one of her distinct features is perfectly balanced, forming the face of a seductive, carnivorous beauty.
(Hmm… yeah, it’s wild.)
And her body is seriously high-spec.
Not quite melons, but definitely large mangoes.
But what really surprised me wasn’t the size—it was the shape.
Defying gravity.
A rocket bust.
I figured firmness had something to do with it.
Turns out I was completely wrong.
They were unbelievably soft.
It felt like my brain would melt the moment I touched them.
It wasn’t intentional—I turned around to grab something, and my elbow accidentally brushed against Ms. Flare, who happened to be standing right behind me.
Ms. Flare didn’t react, so I played it cool too…
(But seriously, can women really not notice something like that?)
Ms. Flare’s specs are unreal—her waist, her hips, her flawless legs—
But while I was getting lost in the thoughts of a typical teenage boy, I realized I’d arrived at Mr. Munin’s workshop.
”Excuse me!”
There was no answer, but I stepped through the door.
The entrance also serves as a shop, with various leather goods displayed on the walls.
It’s rare in this world to see price tags; I can read the numbers, but the prices seem quite high.
I sense someone in the shadows, so I’ll wait a bit, admiring the leather armor on display.
It’s normal for Mr. Munin to use the placeholder.
”Oh, welcome, Sir Hero. Thank you for the delicious meat the other day.”
After waiting about ten minutes, Ms. Flare came out.
She’s wearing a deerskin bodysuit that fits her perfectly.
The exposure is low, but the body lines are clear, making for a rather alluring appearance.
The short cloth decoration wrapped around her waist looks like a super mini skirt, quite stimulating.
”Did you find anything you like?”
”Well, I think it’s a bit expensive for my budget.”
Some items might be out of my price range, but right now, I don’t have much income to spare.
I want to save a bit for emergencies.
”It might seem a bit pricey, but we use good materials and I’m confident in our craftsmanship. We also take responsibility for repairs, so in the long run, it’s a good deal.”
I wonder if anyone can resist Ms. Flare’s sales pitch.
I left my wallet here just in case, but impulse buying is dangerous.
”I got some nice quail today, so I thought I’d share some with you.”
”As always, thank you. The meat is expensive, so it really helps.”
Ms. Flare gave a cute little smile.
Even if she doesn’t mean anything by it, the men who receive this smile will misinterpret it.
Ms. Flare, 19 years old, a terrifyingly beautiful housewife.
”You again, with your transparent courage. Shouldn’t you stop trying to seduce my wife?”
Mr. Munin, who was on standby until just now, flew into the workshop.
”Munin, you shouldn’t say that. Sir Hero is kind and shares with everyone in the village.”
Mr. Munin is 2 years older, but it seems like Ms. Flare has been the boss since they were kids.
Even now, he’s completely under her spell.
Being childhood friends can be tough, huh?
”These villagers might be easily won over with salted meat, but my tongue, trained in the capital, is refined. I won’t be fooled so easily, not even by nobles.”
”Mr. Munin~, if you say anything ruder, I’m gonna bump into you.”
”──No, um, it’s about that salted meat. Please just try this!”
I didn’t want to see any fights, so I handed them the chicken ham sandwiches I prepared.
The ones I gave out at Layla’s house were made for my lunch, but I made these fresh just for them.
I used all my cooking skills to make this chicken ham special, full of flavor and charm.
”Hawaa!”
