Give-Cheat v1c6

Volume 1 Chapter 6 Ability Value

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

It has been raining since this morning.

After finishing my usual morning cleaning and fetching water, I tried to head to the guild hall, but outside, it was pouring like a waterfall.

On days like this, it’s better to take it easy and rest my body.

There are no holidays in this world, so I tend to push myself too hard without breaks.

This rain must be the heavens telling me to take a rest.

I have been given the attic of the blacksmith as my bedroom.

By the way, my partner, the doll princess Ms. Nina, sleeps in the guest bedroom.

She said it was fine to stay with me, but Mr. Zenom, who is strict about relationships between men and women, wouldn’t allow Ms. Nina, even as a doll, to share a room with me.

I crawl into bed, thinking about taking a nice nap, but I can’t seem to get sleepy at all.

When this happens, I end up with too much time on my hands.

I think the people who came here with smartphones or handheld game consoles are the lucky ones.

The real winners are the heroes who brought mobile batteries with solar panels.

There was a huge fight among the previous heroes over smartphones and tablets that ran out of battery, and they sold for crazy prices at auction.

Speaking of which, I also have a laptop.

It was given to me by the king in this world, and it’s quite different from the ones made on Earth.

I pull the laptop out from under the bed.

The dull, shiny exterior is made of the famous magic metal mithril.

It’s really sturdy; it wouldn’t get a scratch even if I dropped it. I could probably use it as a shield in an emergency.

There’s no switch; it turns on automatically when I open the lid.

The back of the lid is the monitor, just like Earth’s laptops, but it’s about 5 centimeters thick.

This monitor doesn’t seem to be LCD; words float up like magic in a thick glass panel.

It’s black and white, but the resolution is so high that you can’t see the dots.

The keyboard is mechanical, like an old typewriter, and it makes a clunky sound when I type.

I might get tendonitis if I type too much, but for now, I haven’t used the keyboard that much.

When I put my guild card into the slot on the right side of the keyboard, 8 lines of text appeared on the screen.

The letters were from another world, but I could already read all the numbers.

 7, 8, 8, 9, 18, 9, 8, 7 + 1

These 8 numbers were my ability scores.

That day, when I was summoned by the magic circle in the castle’s basement, I was first taken to the Hero’s Temple.

The situation was exactly like in those common isekai stories, so I quickly understood where I was.

I’d played many games where you become a hero and defeat the demon king.

I had never traveled abroad, so seeing the grand castle and temple that looked like medieval Europe made me really excited.

Handsome knights in shiny armor kindly guided me around.

I can’t remember his name right now, but in middle school, there was a really strange classmate.

He always talked about wanting to be summoned as a hero to another world, so he didn’t fit in with the others.

They nicknamed him “Chuunibyoo,” and the girls called him “Chuuni.”

One day, he suddenly shouted that he could see a door to another world and jumped out the third-floor window.

Luckily, he only broke his leg, but he moved to a faraway school after that.

Back then, I thought he was just weird and couldn’t tell reality from games, but really, he just wanted to run away from his boring life.

If there really is a world where he could be the main character, I guess anyone would want to give up everything and go there.

Even I, who liked my dull high school life, felt pretty excited about the adventure when I was actually summoned.

I wish I could’ve switched places with him.

He would enjoy another world a hundred times more than me.

I didn’t jump; I just walked into a convenience store, and that’s when I ended up in another world.

The handsome knights led me to the temple’s sunny courtyard and then to a small, clean room.

That’s where I met Ms. Marsha, the priestess.

Marsha had long, shiny brunette hair down to her waist, gray eyes, and slightly droopy eyelids.

She had a beauty mark that made her look gentle and calm.

She was very busty, which made it hard to know where to look.

I think her nose is way too high, which is a big minus for me, but some people might actually like it.

She’s the kind of beautiful woman you’d see in a foreign movie.

”Nice to meet you. I’ll be in charge of your job change, brave hero. I’m Marsha, a second-rank priestess. Please remember me.”

Her voice was soft, like she was singing.

Since I hadn’t talked to many real women before, I was honestly impressed by how good a beautiful woman’s real voice sounds.

”I’m Amada Saburou… uh, I got summoned. I think I’m the hero. Nice to meet you.”

I can’t blame myself for being weirdly excited then, but looking back, it’s pretty embarrassing.

 ”Sir Attar, right?”

”It’s not Attar, it’s Amada, Ms. Marsha. If it’s hard to say, you can just call me Saburou.”

”Alright then, Sir Sabarois. Pleased to meet you again.”

I didn’t know about the Mind Communication skill yet, so I found it strange that Ms. Marsha said my name wrong even though she spoke Japanese perfectly.

 …What’s Sabarois anyway?

Sounds foreign and kinda cool, though.

”…First of all, we apologize for the trouble caused by our world’s selfish reasons.”

Thinking back, Marsha’s apology was strangely formal, not like her usual warm self.

That stiff feeling somehow stuck with me.

”You can’t go back, can you? Just tell me straight. I’m ready for it.”

I want to go home, but if I can’t, I want it clear.

What I need is honest information.

If I do manage to defeat the Demon King here, and then suddenly get sent back to Japan, I’ll be a high school dropout.

It would be so hard to find work and live a proper life after that.

They have to tell me stuff like that in advance so I can plan my life.

If my education is useless, I want to learn some skills while I’m here.

”Unfortunately, brave hero, you’re not allowed to be sent back. You will live your whole life in this world.”

”So, it’s a one-way ticket after all… Well, I was prepared for that. But the country will take care of us, right? Like, for old age… is there a hero’s pension or something?”

My dad always said that a salaryman can live freely only after he starts getting a pension.

I don’t fully understand pensions, but my dad’s dream is my dream too.

”I don’t know much about pensions, but don’t worry──we would never treat the heroes who fight for our world badly.”

 Ms. Marsha looked troubled.

The other heroes don’t seem to ask about pensions, even though it’s important.
