Volume 2 Chapter 12-2 Slave Market

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

Mr. Laken is looking closely at the thread on the spool he was handed.

”This thread is of decent quality, but the production is really high, and it’s still from a young creature. If you take care of it, you can collect thread for a hundred years!”

It seems he plans to collect thread from a spider monster instead of silkworms.

It looks like he wants to start a new industry in the village; I respect Mr. Laken a bit more now.

”If you say that, then it must be true. It just depends on the price.”

”Normally, I’d want 20 million, but for Sir Laken, I can sell it for a flat ten million.”

”I understand you’re lowering the price, but it’s still a bit high.”

”Please keep this price secret. If I keep selling like this, my shop will go under.”

I can’t tell if the woman’s sales talk is true or not, but it seems Mr. Laken decided to buy.

He pays with his guild card.

 ”This is your new master.”

When Mr. Gebault says this, the spider girl bows her head to Mr. Laken.

Is transferring a slave this easy?

It seems just declaring the master changes the ownership.

The master’s words are so absolute, but if someone accidentally says something wrong, it could be a big problem.

”To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Gebault Merchant Guild, any customer spending over ten million gold can get a special lucky bag!”

So there are lucky bags in this world too.

The dark elf woman brings over a tray with some chess pieces on it.

”The gold piece is ten million, and the silver and bronze are 3 million and one million.”

 ”Hey, I’m already broke!”

”It’s fine if it’s for someone with you. We have items worth more than double the price, and some are over ten times the worth!”

A tray is offered to me, but I never intended to buy a slave.

I think the contents of the lucky bag might be suspicious; could it just be leftover stock?

I tried to push the tray away, but one of the silver pieces had such amazing craftsmanship that I couldn’t help but pick it up and stare.

”That’s the silver knight! You really have luck, customer. It’s the best prize this time!”

Maybe I said it was a big win to anyone, but when Mr. Gebault says that, I find it hard to say no.

If I didn’t get this sudden income, I’d definitely turn it down.

Three million gold… Impulse buying is scary.

”Here is what’s inside the lucky bag.”

The ones brought here are a shining, splendid white horse and 2 beautiful chestnut-colored ones wrapped in sleek muscles.

They’re not just horses; where the horse’s neck should be, a woman’s upper body is growing.

This must be a centaur, right?

”They are master and servant of the human-horse race. Our exclusive unit accidentally captured them while hunting unicorns.”

They’ve hunted some pretty incredible things.

Unicorns are said to be stronger than those dragon-like creatures nearby.

”The white one seems to be from a noble family, but because her strength is so weak, she can’t survive without the care of the chestnut. We were looking for a customer to buy both together.”

The white one looks like a princess with her silver hair.

She’s about 18 if she were human.

The chestnut looks a bit older, maybe around 20.

Before becoming slaves, the chestnut was a servant to the white one, but their master-servant relationship is still going──I’d say that’s true loyalty.

You could call it a good story.

They weren’t wearing anything, probably to check for injuries, but once checked, they quickly put on clothes.

Their appearances are almost like human women, so I was honestly worried about where to look──thank goodness.

Mr. Laken was also dressing the spider woman.

The lower bodies of the spider-women and the women with horse parts, plus 3 dressed in black armor.

If we go back together, we’ll probably stand out a lot.

I thought it would cause a huge fuss, but surprisingly, passersby aren’t bothering much.

As expected in a different world.

More than that, how am I supposed to explain this to Ms. Nina?

This isn’t a small expense for wasteful spending.

I really think strength is needed.

But if I have that, a normal horse would do, right?

Can I even ride a centaur in the first place?

Well, the body is like a horse, so I can’t bring it inside the house.

Mr. Zenom’s place has an unused stable, but now it’s just a coal storage.

Whether I can use it depends on negotiation; I should buy some nice sake as a souvenir.

The problem is where to move all that coal.

For now, it looks like they’ll have to sleep in the inn’s stable tonight, but that’s going to be tough.

If Ms. Nina opposes, sadly, I might have to return them.

I’ll stop by the church on the way to update the slaves’ death respawn points.

According to Mr. Laken, some bad traders put slow-acting poison in the slaves before selling them.

If I register at the dark church in advance and collect the revived slave right after selling them, it’s a huge profit for the slave trader.

If the slave is just transferred, it’s not too hard to make them obey their previous owner again.

Even if a customer inquires, just say they are lost, and those shady traders usually disappear by the next day.

Mr. Laken has a long relationship with Mr. Gebault, so he makes sure to cut off any trouble beforehand.

At the church, the two will be registered under my name, making it even harder to return them.
