Volume 5 Chapter 23 Case Of Tizzy Part II

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

She brought her smooth, shiny lips closer to mine. Just as you’d expect from a young lady of the Duke family, even her lips looked perfectly taken care of.

Lip balms and similar products are a big moneymaker for the Alchemy Guild. The exact recipe is a secret, but it’s said to use lots of expensive almonds. Noblewomen who worry about dry, cracked lips are willing to pay anything for it.

Sure, shiny lips are nice, but I don’t think it’s a big deal if your lips get chapped in winter.

In Tizzy’s case, she could probably heal her lips with her own magic. She’s not as strong as Ms. Shirakaba, but she’s still pretty powerful. In this world, people with high levels have their bodies protected by a strange kind of strength.

On Earth, there were games where characters could endure extreme conditions, but here, high-level individuals are protected by invisible barriers even in dangerous situations. Every 5 levels, their defense and health points increase significantly.

But it doesn’t matter to me, since I mostly deal with everyday tasks.

Ms. Shirakaba, a paladin over level 50, is said to have defense like a tank. It’s hard to believe, but it can be explained by something called Armor Class.

Some battle-class heroes even see a health bar in their vision. I don’t see anything like that, so I guess it’s different for each person.

The moment our lips touched, I felt something very uncomfortable.

It was like there was an invisible barrier between us. Tizzy seemed excited that we’d shared a moment, but it didn’t feel as natural as I’d expected.

I’ve heard that as you level up, normal interactions can become less intuitive. Maybe this barrier is the reason. It probably is.

It wasn’t a problem with Ms. Shirakaba, so there must be a way to turn it off. Maybe Tizzy just hasn’t fully accepted me as an ally yet.

It’s like how support magic and healing magic always work perfectly on trusted allies.

Mr. Raoh’s information mentions something called a ‘Saving Throw’ that automatically resists interference from untrusted sources.

I’m not sure, but I imagine it like a mental wall.

”It’s okay, trust me,” I said, feeling a bit embarrassed but determined to break the wall in her heart.

A soft touch, just lips meeting. Tizzy’s reaction seemed a bit too formal. Could it be because of her magical training?

It’s not just being too reserved; there seems to be a strong resistance to opening up emotionally.

It’s awkward, but at the same time, I’m definitely feeling motivated. It might be rude to treat it like a challenge, but Tizzy must be taking it seriously in her own way.

Was the plan to have a formal relationship with me while maintaining her duties? Declaring the plan openly is honest in a way, isn’t it?

As for me, I didn’t have to go along with such a plan, but now that I’ve accepted her as a friend, it doesn’t seem like a bad idea.

I meant to be careful, but somehow I feel like I’m getting carried away by the moment. I’ll think about it later.

Now, the Tizzy in front of me. She’s supposed to be cautious around strangers, but if she’s the one initiating this, she can’t be that uncomfortable, can she?

If I can build a genuine connection, it might be a turning point. In the end, we’ll be allies, but hey, I’ll show her what a true friend is worth!

It’s not because I can’t stand how much she reminds me of Ms. Nina. It’s not that reason. My instincts tell me that meeting her is a lucky opportunity.

Anyway, I should be gentle and not scare her. She’s so tense she’s like a frozen statue, but depending on how you look at it, it’s a chance to show my patience.

If I can connect with her like I did with Ms. Shirakaba, I won’t have to worry about barriers. I need to build a connection now that the first step has been taken.

She slowly relaxes and opens up. This first moment will probably be the hardest. If she fails to trust me, there might not be another chance, but to succeed, she has to be brave and not get scared.

Tizzy’s discomfort and resistance slowly turn into calm acceptance. Her energy is unbelievably strong. Is she really just human? Huh? If I fail, isn’t that bad for me?

The flickering flames of the fireplace seem to warm her up, and her energy inside starts to glow brightly like fire. For a moment, I felt like I saw a memory from ancient times. Maybe our ancestors, long ago, were building trust around a campfire.

Alright, I’ve connected with her. Compared to the energy of advanced spirits, hers was simple yet powerful. A connection has been made through mutual understanding. Now, I just need to be there for her normally.

Hmmm, I think I understand why getting too strong can create emotional barriers. Trusting each other is a risk, but it’s also what makes relationships meaningful.

All of this is probably the price for gaining great strength. That’s why they value connections so much.

It seems that in Tizzy’s case, she wants the same level of trust as with Ms. Shirakaba. Little kids cry if you don’t share fairly—it’s the same idea.

Whether it’s better to grant all her wishes or teach her patience—I might not understand because I’m not very smart, but probably there’s no right answer. Human relationships are like that, after all.

I’m not good at negotiations or tricks, so I’ll just try to be there for her as long as it’s not inconvenient. Luckily, when she feels supported, I feel good too—humans are well-made, after all.
