Volume 6 Chapter 6-2 Isekai Ninja Scrolls: Ambition Edition

”No one is perfect.”
”Please don’t say things that might hurt a girl’s dreams.”
Now that I think about it, maybe it’s not right to expect such a plain, ordinary person from the perfect character in a story.
I’ll admit, knights and princes on white horses are cool. But even someone like Stargazer, just by their name, shouldn’t be judged too quickly.
Come to think of it, I kept my job a secret from Shea-Shea. Actually, I don’t even know what kind of clothes Stargazer wears.
The old document I finally found after a long search only had one line: ‘Reads the stars and decides the planting day.’
Choosing the planting day seems linked to the god of farming, but God Sha doesn’t really seem like that type.
Goddess Belzea, the Goddess of Fertility, doesn’t need Stargazer’s strength. Barley naturally falls to the ground and grows on its own.

”Looking at how the troublemaking Heroes have been acting lately, there’s no shortage of stories. But now, women can’t even walk outside during the day.”
Has the safety of the royal capital really gotten that bad?
No way, could it be that the recent summoning is bringing in villains on purpose?
”So, my lord, I’d be very happy if you could come shopping with me.”
Shopping with a pretty girl, huh. Normally, I’d be excited about a date invitation, but with how things are in the capital now, all I see is trouble with those delinquent Heroes.
It’s like a duck carrying vegetables and jumping into a hot pot.
No way, Shea-Shea. You’re not trying to make me fight by using me for an interview, are you?
If it were just me, I think I could handle a newly summoned delinquent Hero.
Agito was the same, but even though you can level up quickly, if the opponent lacks real skills, there are plenty of chances to beat them.
But honestly, it would be hard to fight while protecting Shea-Shea.
If it’s a serious battle, I could summon a fire spirit and be pretty strong, but I can’t just destroy the royal capital.
Maybe it’s not bad to have a date while enjoying the early spring flowers in the garden together?
”Because I’m not confident I can protect you, let’s not go outside.”
I’m a coward. I said it honestly. Even if she’s disappointed in me for being weak, I don’t want to go to dangerous places knowing they’re risky.
I’m as fragile as paper. Even a small stab from a cheap knife could end my life quickly.
”Understood. I’m sorry for asking too much.”
Shea-Shea looks a bit unhappy, but there’s nothing I can do about it.
When it was Agito, he was alone, so it went well, but if he had other villainous friends, I might not have been able to protect the girl.
There’s also a way to keep the person you’re protecting in a magic bag for safety, but it seems dangerous if people know there’s a living creature inside.
Ah, as long as they don’t know it’s a magic bag… then maybe a trick can work.
What I’m thinking of is, like in ninja shows, disappearing in smoke.
Ninja tricks involve illusions and gadgets. Holding a scroll or using seals is just part of the trick. During the smoke, they use distraction and then move through the surprise or hidden path.
If it’s ninja techniques, it might work no matter the job. After all, real ninjutsu is basically anything goes.
Although foreigners often think ninjas are superhumans, it’s fair to say they’re already caught in the ninja’s trap.
Yes, tricking people is the heart of ninjutsu. Stargazer’s default skills include deception and spreading rumors, so it seems to work well with ninjutsu.
First, a smoke screen. Anything that blocks vision is fine.
Even non-lethal smoke screens have the advantage of blocking one of the enemy’s senses during battle. Even modern tanks have smoke launchers.
I think real smoke grenades probably use gunpowder. Since some fireworks also produce smoke.
But I don’t know how to make gunpowder, and flammable materials are quickly messed with by fire spirits or similar.
I got barley flour from the kitchen and ground it into super fine powder. The finer it is, the longer it stays in the air when scattered, blocking the view.
I feel bad about wasting food, but cost-wise, this is probably the cheapest method.
It’s a smoke screen that doesn’t use fire, so it’s safe. Let’s test it in Floria’s courtyard.
I placed a dish with flour on the ground and used a simple wind skill to blow it up. It’s a weak version of wind magic that can be used like a fan, requiring only a little energy, but of course, it can’t cut monsters.
To make the smoke screen thicker, it seems best to create a small whirlpool and lift the powder.
It takes more time than I thought to set up the smoke screen. Ninja show performers disappear with a quick ‘whoosh’ and ‘bang’ timing.
Suddenly, a loud boom sounds, and the smoke screen catches fire. Unprepared for the blast, I reflexively fell backward. Did the magic go out of control?
The stable’s horses are panicking, and servants from the mansion rush out with this one.
”Please do your magic practice outside of the capital.”
I got scolded by the beautiful but strict head maid. Shea-Shea is giving me a sideways glance.
That’s not it. I never thought it would explode. Where could the explosive element be? I only borrowed a tiny bit of the wind spirit’s power.
I see, it’s the mischievous Fire Spirit. Thinking it’s just playing around, she joined in… So this is what they call a dust explosion I’ve heard of. I never thought it would really blow up.
It was a good decision to use only a small amount of flour.
What exactly is a dust explosion? Apparently, if coal dust scattered in a mine catches fire, it can cause an accident like a gas explosion.
In manga, they used sugar to blow up enemy bases. I guess any kind of powder might work.
If you can control the explosive power well, maybe you can recreate the Hidden Dagger Technique. It’s a dangerous ninja move where you pretend to self-destruct and then escape from the enemy.
If I were to disappear in front of people, I could use a quick attack, but there’s a chance it could be blocked, so it’s not possible when many are watching.
Without using magic, just disappearing with a simple trick might actually be considered cheating in this world.
When I looked over, there was a neat pile of firewood stacked beside the barn. Wood is valuable, so it’s rarely actually burned, but it’s probably just for show by the nobles.
The fuel sticks used in the kitchen are made from compressed straw.
I wonder if I could get a log before it’s split? Its shape and size would be perfect for a body-switching trick.

In this world, Ninjas are apparently an advanced class related to thieves, but details on how to change jobs or the specific skills seem unclear. Whether they truly exist or not is still a mysterious legendary job──the Ninja.
Ninjas are believed to be one of the strongest combat classes because they can kill with their bare hands. No matter how heavy the armor or how much health someone has, it’s said to be useless against a Ninja’s instant kill attacks.
If I openly use a technique that looks like ninjutsu, the enemy might mistake me for a Ninja and run away.
It might be a bit problematic if my job claim is exposed, huh? There’s also a chance that a real Ninja might ask the guild about me.
Oh, now that I think about it, I was given the alias “Justice” by the guild due to circumstances. Aside from the name, everything about my job and history is unknown. It’s a temporary identity used when nobles want to act like commoners.
I was warned not to misuse it, but if it’s for a good cause, it should be fine.
Justice’s ninja, Justice, is here to stop evil plans. A mask is essential, and I also need chain mail and a ninja outfit.
Masks can be found in second-hand shops, and chain mail can be used as is. As for the ninja outfit, it’ll probably need to be custom-made. When I get back to Toyata village, I’ll ask Mr. Simonov and the others for advice.
I need to design a mask so I don’t inhale flour powder. If I can make a good mask, I might even mix mustard into a smoke screen for a tear gas effect.
There are also ninja techniques like blow darts and needles, so the design needs to allow for quick removal and putting on of the mask.
Also, there is the flame-throwing technique that sprays oil in a mist and ignites it… I definitely want to try the fire technique too.
Of course, throwing stars are also needed. Should I make my own iron weapons?
To become a ninja, I have to prepare various ninja tools.
