Volume 6 Chapter 88 Impact

Edited by: Kanaa-senpai

 Finally, the day had come.

 It really had come.

Just like how a long summer vacation must come to an end, life too has its final day. The moment meant to arrive eventually… had arrived.

Call it fate. Call it luck. Either way—this was destiny.

Well, it’s too late to complain now.

The meteorite would crash a little after noon today. There was still time left, but my heart was uneasy. I went ahead and got into gear early.

I tried putting on some shiny, flashy armor I prepped just for show, but Tizzy shut that down instantly.

Apparently, today, proper attire for a Stargazer was the correct call. It’s about TPO—time, place, occasion. Right.

So I swapped into a deep green robe and grabbed a staff twisted like tree roots.

It looked shabby… but don’t be fooled. This stuff’s expensive.

The robe gives a small charisma boost—+1. The staff has a mild mana buff. Not much for performance, but visually? Passable. That’s what counts.

I mean, I could make a bronze amulet with +3 stats from just a few copper coins these days. Guess I should keep training my sewing and woodwork skills.

But if I spread myself too thin, I’ll lose skill points overall. Classic jack of all trades, master of none.

Putting on my robe? That’s easy.

But for the girls, it’s a whole event.

Some gear pieces are tricky solo, so they’re probably dressing together, helping each other.

 …I can’t peek. I wait.

 Patiently. Painfully.

* * *

Here’s your Light Novel-style rewrite with smoothened author tone, combined dialogue tags, and MTL-like flavor preserved—but with natural, flowing English. All original breaks and spacing are kept:

* * *

”Lady Shirakaba is sooo lovely~~desuwa. So much metal gear, it’s like, wow~~,” Tizzy sighed, gazing at the disguised gentleman with dreamy eyes.

”Ah, our husband? He’s a master blacksmith,” one of the girls explained, flipping her hair casually. “All our gear is loaded with enchantments. Pretty much cheat level.”

 The rest nodded in sync.

Tizzy personally managed all the gear Saburou forged—and honestly, it was national treasure-tier stuff. Even a dwarf would tone it down. He really did go all-out for the one he loved.

”And Ms. Shirakaba, she’s seriously been blessed by the gods,” someone whispered with awe.

Apparently, some divine beings just… latched on after watching her anime reenactment videos. Most of her blessings were small, but the sheer number? Off the charts.

”They say exceptional bards often get more divine favor than even Heroes,” another added with a knowing nod.

”So I was recognized as a voice actor, huh,” Shirakaba mused, blushing faintly. “That actually makes me happy.”

”Ms. Shirakaba’s on a whole other level,” Tizzy nodded seriously. “Then comes Tizzy. Sir Saburou and El also got blessings, but barely.”

”I’m grateful, I guess? But seriously, no idea why,” Shirakaba said, confused but sincere.

”I bet it’s ’cause you’re amazing at food reviews,” one girl giggled. “El eats so happily.”

”Saburou’s cooking is straight-up dream-tier,” another added. “I’m glad I married El—girl’s got top taste.”

”Sir Saburou is truly… exceptional,” Tizzy whispered reverently.

”Tizzy, that doesn’t count as a compliment,” someone muttered. “Sure, he’s low-maintenance, totally reliable in a pinch, and a killer cook… but don’t call him a catch to his face.”

”So, like, it’s the opposite of a useless man?” Tizzy tilted her head. “Is that… not good? Earth language is confusing.”

”Maybe in Japanese culture, tying a guy’s skills to romance isn’t seen as ‘pure love’?” Nina chimed in, squinting thoughtfully.

”Nina, that’s not quite it either,” Shirakaba groaned. “Ugh, so many culture gaps… I thought anime had bridged them all!”

”Rom-coms are the best~desuwa. Sir Saburou should say one sweet line at least, right?” Tizzy spun around, dreamy-eyed again.

”Ugh, gross,” Shirakaba groaned. “I like him because he’s totally clueless about that stuff.”

”Yeah, Saburou’s completely hopeless when it comes to romance,” one girl agreed, snorting.

”But… that’s the charm,” Tizzy muttered, hugging her staff. “Imagine him turning beet red, stammering through one awkward love confession.”

”Ughh. That might be… kinda cute…” El mumbled, face turning pink.

Before the big event, tension? Nonexistent. The girls were just vibing.

* * *

With the jingle of tiny bells at the tip of my staff, I walked calmly down the main street toward the castle.

Everyone’s outfits? Flashy. Like, cosplay event-level flashy.

Horsefolk Claire and tall El especially stood out like sore thumbs.

El wasn’t wearing the usual knight-style armor I’d crafted before. This one had full-on post-apocalyptic vibes. Tizzy’s fault—she’d definitely binge-watched some end-of-world anime again.

As the crowd gathered, I slowly raised my staff like a tour guide and opened my mouth with practiced calm.

”Today, shortly after noon, a star will fall on Mount Abel’s summit. The earth shall tremble, stone walls will collapse, roofs will be blown away by the wind. Prepare yourselves—extinguish all fires and take shelter where you won’t be buried alive,” I announced smoothly, the speech rolling off my tongue thanks to my incitement skill. Stargazer class gives bonuses to conman-type acts. Yeah, not a justice-friendly class at all.

The festival crowd went from cheerful to corpse-pale in a heartbeat. Panic hit like a virus.

They looked toward the mountain, screamed, and ran.

The Grand Temple had already evacuated the danger zone. Shouldn’t be any casualties… in theory.

But panicked people are unpredictable. That’s the scary part.

You can manage chaos if people know what’s going on and what to do. If they have that, they can think. React. Not lose it.

Hopefully, no witch hunts or dumb mobs start up.

As we neared the castle, the streets got more congested. Running now would cause a riot. Best call was to stay indoors and wait it out.

Telling people to “pray” was probably the right move. In a world where gods are real, faith gives people something to hang onto.

”Stop! Identify yourselves!” shouted a soldier as a squad surrounded us at the castle gate. Took them long enough. Security? Total joke.

I’d expected more, considering this was the country that tried to get dragon powers and world domination going. With guards like these? Not happening.

”The Stargazer comes bearing prophecy for the king. Grant us passage,” I declared with extra drama. In this world, prophecies are no joke—they carry serious weight.

El once told me one prophecy’s worth more than a whole career. That’s how precious they are.

False prophecies exist, but divine punishment for lying? Instant and brutal. Unlike Earth, fraud here is literally lethal.

Even if they didn’t believe me, ignoring a prophecy is a death flag.

Stargazer might be a weird, minor role—but in stories, it always kicks off the big stuff. Hero’s journey, turning points, all that. Trickster class. Chaotic neutral. A wild card.

They kept us waiting for ages, but eventually, they let us into the courtyard.

”Just like Tizzy predicted,” someone muttered.

”Everyone wants a role in a hero story~desuwa. Even a minor one,” Tizzy chimed in brightly.

 ”Really?” I blinked.

”Sir Saburou’s already past that point. He’s had legendary adventures,” Claire said firmly.

”Did I, though…? Felt more like small to medium ones,” I muttered.

”You saved maidens from dragons. That’s undeniably heroic~desuwa,” Tizzy insisted.

…Well, if you put it that way. Even if I mostly just bantered with Schulz.

This time, though… I had to go full serious mode. Bluff my way into rescuing Uno and hand off the meteor problem at the same time.

Yeah, part of me felt guilty.

But if you flinch in negotiations, you lose. I’d learned that the hard way.

Ever since that mess with the cardinal, I toughened up. You let your guard down here, you die. There are nobles who kill people with just a word.

If I mess this up… I might really need to flip the table. Castle-wide bloodbath kind of flip.

Not that I’d do it. But that’s the resolve level required.

They’ll be coming at me with that same energy.

Negotiation isn’t talking. It’s war wearing a fancy suit.

You need resolve to kill, to die, to stain your soul.

I was ready to die. But not to get dirty. That’s why the cardinal sneered at me.

This wasn’t just about politics. This was two guys butting heads over a woman.

 Uno chooses in the end.

But in this world, men clash with everything they’ve got first. It’s the way.

And I could tell—the king wasn’t gonna lose quietly.

 Doesn’t matter. His issue.

I locked in. Mental buff activated.

 ’I’m the King of the End Times! I don’t retreat! I don’t flatter! I don’t reflect!

If I fall, I fall forward!

Dragonflies only go forward! So do centipedes!’

(…Okay, dragonflies can fly backwards, but who cares!)

’I’m the winner bug! The charm of luckkk!’

…Wait, wasn’t I supposed to eat tonkatsu for breakfast?

 I was pumped.

But still had to wait in the courtyard forever.

Was it prep time or just plain harassment?

Classic Musashi delay tactic. Ganryū Island vibes.

 Delays during conflict? Fatal.

It was almost noon. If the meteor hit before I got my dramatic entrance, this would all be wasted.

At the last possible second… the king showed.

His armor is Gaudy. His entourage is overdecorated.

”You there, are you the one who speaks of prophecy?” he asked, puffed up with authority.

”Now is the time!” I shouted, cutting off his fancy courtier. “The great king of terror descends from the sky and blows his horn!”

No time for polite intros. I threw my line out with pure anime-level impact.

”Young king! Look to Mount Abel’s summit with your own eyes! Sixteen! Fifteen! Fourteen! Thirteen!”

I raised my staff high. The bell at the tip jingled actually pretty cool in the moment.

The king looked about thirty. Confused, but listened.

Calling him “young king” was a trick. Made me sound older, wiser, even if I wasn’t.

Age is weird in this world. Elves mess with the rules. Here, it’s more about presence.

 ”Ten! Nine! Eight! Seven!”

I worried the countdown wouldn’t land.

But then—under a perfectly clear daylight sky—a flame-like streak shot through the heavens.

 A meteorite.

Burning through the air. The core would crack, but shards would land.

”Three… Two… One… Impact!” I declared, voice ringing out across the courtyard.

A soft boom. Dust burst upward. A mushroom cloud, small but real.

 The mountaintop? Gone.

From far away, it looked like harmless smoke. But big rocks were in that dust. That was no joke.

Hell on that mountain. Good thing it was empty.

 ”What’s going on?”

 ”The mountain’s gone!”

From here, it just looks like the peak was slightly clipped. Not exactly a cinematic disaster. The king and his entourage? Panic mode, but more in a “Wait, what?” way than pure terror.

Then the earth gave a single, deep jolt—like a vertical slap from below. To a Japanese person raised with earthquakes, that was practically nothing. Still, the castle folks screamed and bolted.

Yeah, fair. This castle wasn’t earthquake-proof. That tremor could easily shake it apart. Sure enough, many of the Magic Formations etched into the stone stopped working. Poor contact. Figures. Carve your spells into bedrock, people—lesson learned.

Finally, the thunderous boom hit. Like a massive cannon firing from miles away. Sound travels about 340 meters per second, so it might’ve sounded nearby, but that thing was easily 100 kilometers off.

Still, it was enough to make the royal crew freeze in place. You could read it in their eyes: “What now…?”

A chance. A perfect one. Time to take the lead.

 Wait. The tower’s collapsing?

With a rumble, the prison tower comes down like a slow pancake. That’s where Uno’s being held. But no way she’d get hurt from that. Called it—there she is. Giant dragon form. Big. Regal. Kinda scary. Oh, and our eyes met.

 Yikes. She’s glaring.

* * *

”You made quite the scene, huh?” Uno said, now back in human form, hands on hips.

 ”You’re scolding me now?” I blinked. “I think you’re misunderstanding something here…”

 ”Why… I should have sealed your dragon’s strength…”

The king muttered like a scolded child standing in front of a growling dog. A dog off the leash.

”Oh, this thing?” Uno raised her wrist, snapped off a bracelet that looked more like a discount magic toy, and handed it to me.

”Ugh, terrible work.” I grimaced, analyzing it. “New model? Looks like some newbie tried copying something way out of their league.”

The spell structure was trash. A bunch of circuits didn’t even connect. It’s somehow still running, but that’s a fluke at best. Definitely untested.

”You mean you let yourself get caught? On purpose? But why?!”

”Not really the time for that,” I said flatly. The castle’s stonework was a wreck. The town below probably had issues too. Priorities.

”I wanted to see if my brother’s descendants were worth anything,” Uno said calmly. “If they were scum, I’d have eliminated them on the spot.”

Descendants? So that rumor was true? The king’s got dragon blood?

”See?! We had no choice! Dragon strength fades over generations. We needed new blood!”

”Hmph. You humans underestimate strength too easily. You know nothing of true dragon lineage.” She turned coldly to the king. “For my brother’s sake, I’ll spare your life. Make use of it.”

Brutal. The king hung his head like a defeated salaryman. High self-esteem, but no backbone to match. Even if he married Uno, the child would be the cheat. He’d be the joke.

Anyway. Disaster response first. Get moving, man.

”We’ll handle the rest later,” I ordered. “Evacuate everyone near collapsing buildings. Send soldiers to the castle town for rescue and order maintenance. Fast.”

Only the main tower fell so far, but loose stone is dangerous. Keep clear until safety checks are done.

”What kind of things should we do… for rescue?” one of the ministers asked, nervously.

”Bring the seriously injured here. If they’re breathing, I’ll manage it.”

 I had Dragon God’s Herb—basically an elixir. Near-death? Fixable.

”Master, what’s ‘maintaining public order’ mean?” one soldier asked.

”Just show up. It’ll stop fires and looting before they start.”

Somehow, I ended up directing troops. The king? Totally checked out after Uno’s tongue-lashing. Guy was pouting.

The country’s toast if this is their leader. Emergency or not, someone’s gotta step up.

This whole region wasn’t even on a hazard map. The damage was light—any average king should’ve handled it.

If a king does nothing and can’t do anything when it matters, then… why have one?

Anyway. Gave some general orders, and my people kicked into action. At least they weren’t incompetent.

When the dust settled, Mount Abel was clearly visible under the bright blue sky. Its peak? Clean gone. Snow too. Just a bald, rocky summit now.

Probably wiped out some alpine plants too. Then again, no one in this world climbs mountains for fun. Pre-Meiji Japan was the same—climbing was for monks and madmen. Civilized folk do farm work if they wanna move their bodies.

I like climbing, but I get it.

Still, to these castle folks, their precious mountain had transformed. A chill gripped them—not from the blast, but the change. It spooked them deeper.

Imagine if Mount Fuji got chipped at the top. You’d feel it. Deep.

”W-what are you?! What do you seek with that strength?!”

The king stammered, eyes wide, trembling.

I pointed skyward. “I aim for the heavens!”

It was a line from a villain in the anime I watched last night. Felt right. No regrets.

Ms. Shirakaba and the crew? Huge fans. But if you haven’t seen the anime, it probably sounds insane.

Huh? Why am I getting divine blessings all of a sudden? Did they… like the line?

”…I’ve lost. Completely lost…” the king muttered.

Looks like he misunderstood something, but hey—I win. That works.

Uno’s safe. Meteor problem contained. Time to retreat before someone looks too close.

* * *

We headed back to the old ship, Uno in tow.

In town, soldiers stood like statues. The place looked mostly fine. A few collapsed buildings—ones that crumbled completely. Either weak construction or unlucky harmonics. Earthquake-proofing isn’t a thing here, but rebuilding with lessons learned? That could level up their tech fast.

The people who heard my prophecy earlier all dropped to the ground when they saw me.

 Please stop.

Apparently, once a prophecy hits, you’re a living god now. Not my vibe.

At the river, Uno was briefly excited about the rubber boat, but lost interest quick.

It’s military spec—just a plain black raft. Only the dwarves would be into it. I did buy a banana boat too, but winter’s coming. Guess it’ll wait. There’ll be more summers.

* * *

Back in the prefab hut-turned-viewing-lounge, Ms. Shirakaba sighed.

”That wasn’t satisfying at all,” she muttered, holding a chip bag.

”What kind of review is that?” I asked.

”Yes, that satisfaction was absent,” Uno agreed, arms crossed. “A fool who doesn’t know their own strength needs a good crack to learn. I was waiting for a big show! All we got was… a rock falling.”

 ”Uh… that rock was a meteor…” I muttered.

 ”A rock, still.”

”Let’s enjoy zamaa (revenge) scenes in anime, Lady Uno!” Exceneca offered with a grin. “Watching villains get wrecked is so satisfying. And isekai anime? The recent ones are wild.”

”Yes! Anime! You’ve been keeping all the fun for yourselves!” Uno clapped. “Let’s have a viewing party! With this poteto thing!”

Uno’s extra today. But… it’s kind of cute? Like a big sister checking in on her family.

Meanwhile, the Great temple must be in crisis control mode. But hey, if they’re using it to boost their authority, they’ll manage. It’s peak season for temple politics. Bonus time.

* * *

Near Mount Abel’s summit. The crater’s base still glows faintly with heat.

”I can’t get any closer in this body,” one shadowed figure muttered. “The landscape’s changed. Like a cauldron from hell.”

”Dropping stars on the world… That’s not something humans do. Is he a god?”

Two black-robed figures stared down into the void.

”Ultimate magic has meteor spells, sure—but they only burn villages. This could wipe out nations.”

”He has Goddess Keras’ blessing. And tamed two ancient dragons.”

 ”Source reliable?”

”Absolutely. Even the dark side of the management bureau failed to kill him. At this point, he’s already half-divine.”

”There’s a prophecy on the island of the dead… Something about the demon king’s revival. Could it be him?”

”Unclear. Our job is to find out.”

They vanished silently into the shadows.

Unseen, something else had been watching them. A presence in the dark.

It huffed softly, disappointed they never noticed it… and melted into the night.
