Chapter 625 Report to Knight Müller

(Kazumi’s POV)
”Alright, everyone, take a seat. I’ve heard about your great achievement… So, what’s the report?”
My papa, having picked up on various clues from our visit, guided us into the reception room.
As we settled onto the sofas, my mama brought over some tea.
”Yes, um, I mean, we──well, we wanted to discuss the matter we promised to Sir Müller before.”
”Liz, you really don’t need to be so formal, remember?”
Papa raised a hand to pause Liz, smiling gently.
At the sight of his warm expression, Liz flushed slightly and looked down, embarrassed.
(I see. Now that I think about it, Liz did mention that she fell for Dad at first sight.)
I reminisced about that summer morning practice nearly 3 years ago.
She had been starry-eyed, saying, “I’m fine being the second wife.”
(But… isn’t that a bit inappropriate now?)
When I stole a glance at Hiroya sitting beside me… yep, he looked a bit irritated.
Perhaps sensing Hiroya’s gaze, Liz shook her head slightly and turned back to papa.
”Right… So, about that promise… since Azradelius has vanished and the ‘S-rank dungeon’ has reverted to the ‘Goblin Forest Labyrinth,’ we can no longer fulfill it.”
”Yeah, I figured that promise was off the table by then.”
Knowing we had already conquered the ‘Great Labyrinth Raetia,’ Papa nodded with satisfaction, lifting his cup of tea.
”So we’ve… decided to change our objective, albeit it may seem selfish.”
”Change your objective?”
Papa paused, his cup halfway to his lips.
He looked at Liz, encouraging her to continue.
”Yes… You know, it’s likely that the vanished Azradelius is still within the empire’s territory, right?”
”Ah, I’ve heard that from the lord.”
”To chase him down and take him out… First, I’ve set my sights on conquering the Great Labyrinth of Raetia, to boost my own power.”
Liz declared, throwing herself into the mix with Slosh.
”Finally, with our party’s rank S strength, we’ll report back to Knight Müller after dominating the Great Labyrinth of Raetia.”
Papa took a sip of tea from his cup, nodding deeply at Liz’s powerful words.
”You’ve all worked hard. ────You’ve really lived up to my expectations.”
Setting the cup down on the table, Papa gave a hearty pat on Liz’s shoulder.
”Since the attack by Azradelius… and the abduction of Lady Megumi, Koichi, and Aelia… within the 3-year deadline set for their rescue, you’ve all grown so strong in just over 2 years. And to conquer the newly discovered Great Labyrinth of Raetia, no less.”
Papa sank back into the sofa, scanning everyone present.
Soon, his gaze met mine, and he gave a small nod.
His face looked so proud…
”You, whom I’ve placed my hopes in, have gathered many reliable companions and grown strong. There’s nothing happier than this… truly, thank you.”
Papa straightened up once more, bowing his head to us.
”No… this is just the beginning.”
Hiroya, sitting next to My, called out to Papa.
”Indeed. ────Our ultimate goal is ‘to defeat Azradelius and rescue the abducted.’ But────”
Papa looked up, his gaze serious as he met Hiroya’s eyes.
”────But I believe in you. Without a doubt, you’ll achieve that goal. And it’ll be… in a not-so-distant future.”
”Yes! Definitely before the deadline!”
With Liz’s powerful words, we all stood and nodded in agreement with Papa.

Hiroya, receiving training from Papa after such a long time.
And…
”I want to see the technique of the master who taught you the sword skills that toyed with me during our first duel.”
After training, Asuka, grabbing Papa, hoped for a sparring match…
It seemed like they had crossed into the realm of S-rank, and while I could barely follow their movements, I couldn’t catch the details of their swordplay.
When their movements finally stopped, Asuka’s beloved katana was dancing in the air.
”Wow, Master is incredible. You handled all of Asuka’s rapid thrusts!”
”Right? And… he didn’t even break a sweat.”
Hiroya and Simona were both in awe.
”I know my speed has increased… but as expected from the kingdom’s top knight.”
Asuka murmured under her breath, a hint of frustration as she sheathed her katana that had been stabbed into the ground.
But there was a satisfied look on her face.
”Hehe… I still need to aim higher…”
Asuka bowed deeply to Papa before returning.
”See? Kazumi’s Papa is amazing, right?”
”Hey Liz, you like that kind of ‘cool, rugged guy’?”
Simona immediately quipped to Liz, who had puffed up her chest in pride over Papa’s victory.
”Well, he is definitely handsome, but he’s not really my type… It’s okay, Liz. You can just let us handle Hiroya and be the knight’s mistress.”
”What!? No way! Sure, I felt a little flutter when I first met him… he was so cool I almost fell for him…”
Liz trailed off, carefully stealing a glance at Hiroya.
──Yeah. Hiroya looks pretty angry, doesn’t he?
”But! That was before I fell for Hiroya! Right now, it’s only Hiroya for me… I’m completely in love!”
”…Liz? You know you’re in for a punishment tonight, right?”
”Eeep♡”
Hiroya leaned close to Liz’s ear as she scrambled to explain herself.
Oh boy… it looks like she’s in for a night of being overwhelmed, doesn’t it, Liz?
”You’re making me mad, Liz. That’s actually a reward!”
”Big Sister Liz is unfair!”
”Ms. Liz… were you doing this on purpose?”
”Ugh… I have to take care of Gorge tonight, you know…”
”Rena gets to go on a date afterward!♡”
Simona, Martina, and Dorothy all chimed in, chiding Liz, while Asuka muttered in frustration.
Only Rena kept smiling the entire time.
In the midst of it all, Hiroya was surrounded by everyone, looking over here with a pleading gaze as if asking for help… but I couldn’t help but smile naturally at everyone.
Then, before I knew it, Papa, who had been standing next to me, gently ruffled my hair with his large hand.
”Hiroya, you really are quite the heartthrob. ──I was a little worried, but when I see that smile on Kazumi’s face…”
”Huh?”
I looked up at Papa, tilting my head in confusion.
”No, I mean, seeing Kazumi’s smile as she looks at everyone… it really makes me happy. Papa feels reassured.”
”Yeah! Thanks to everyone, I’m super happy. I can’t help but have fun!”
I thought I should properly explain the situation with Hiroya and everyone else, but Papa seemed to understand things without needing the details. With a wry smile, he muttered in response…
”‘Well, you are the son of Shinji O’Brian. I guess this situation is just inevitable.’”
