Chapter 678-2 Grandma’s Shop

”Because the fabric was red and white, the first thing I thought of was clothing for you guys. Since there wasn’t much fabric, I could only make a cloak.”

 ”Grandma, thank you!”

 ”I’ll cherish it too!”

Rena and I, overwhelmed with emotion, threw ourselves at her, hugging her tightly. Wrapped in her gentle smile and warm embrace, I felt my heart fill with happiness.

(I’ll wear this cloak and look stylish and cool while training magic, even during the camp!)

Such determination filled my heart, carried by the spring breeze.

At Grandma’s shop, Rena and I bought underwear and nightwear. We carried our belongings in both arms, our shoulders lightly bumping as we headed to the main store of the ‘Zett Merchant Guild.’ The street echoed with the sound of carriage wheels on cobblestones and the calls of market vendors. The lively bustle of Raetia, leaning westward, felt even more vibrant than before. Our goal was a large-capacity bag. Still, if we carried any more, my arms would probably ache… but since it’s a bag, putting in what we already have would make things easier, right?

Speaking of ‘Zett Merchant Guild,’ Ms. Sasha, who leads and commands vigorously as the head, handles everything at this trading company. Their merchandise truly includes “every single thing” from around the world.

For groceries, they import fresh vegetables and golden grains grown in the northern frontier of Baron territory, and sweet and sour fruits cultivated by elves in the southern Great Forest. These are directly shipped from various regions to retail stores in Raetia. The main store mostly displays sparkling daily goods and mysterious items excavated from the Great Labyrinth Raetia and other dungeons in various regions. ‘Zett Merchant Guild’ actively buys from adventurers, and occasionally, astonishing treasures are hidden inside. For example, Gunilla’s treasured ‘Great Crossbow (Arbalest)’ is precisely such a gem. When it comes to ‘artifacts of ancient civilizations,’ their rarity goes without saying.

Walking down the street, I suddenly thought of a question and asked Rena.

 ”Hey, Rena. Speaking of bags…”

Shaking my arms holding my luggage slightly, I peeked at her. Rena, still holding her luggage with both hands, tilted her head lightly with “Hm?” and looked at me with sparkling big eyes. Her defenseless and adorable gesture made me almost grin, but I suppressed it and asked my question.

”Does this world… have something like a magic bag or something?”

Suddenly, Rena’s face shifted into an exasperated mode. Her eyebrows twitched, and a “good grief” kind of smile appeared on her lips.

”Huh, Kazumi, I guess you were reading too many light novels in your past life…”

Her voice carried a teasing tone. I pouted, ready to retaliate.

”Because! No matter what kind of work it is, isn’t a magic bag pretty much a must-have item?”

Rena shrugged in response, beginning to speak in a tone as if explaining to a child. The sound of her boots tapping on cobblestones echoed briskly.

”Listen carefully. First of all, connecting a bag to another dimension is almost impossible. Even if it could be done, you’d have to isolate that dimension so it doesn’t interfere with other bags, right?”

I nodded while repositioning my luggage and giving a sympathetic response.

”Yeah, exactly. Otherwise, all the luggage from different bags would get mixed up.”

Rena lightly waved her hand holding the luggage, as if saying “Exactly,” and continued. The wind passing through the street made her hair and new white cloak flutter gently.

”That’s not all. You have to properly index the contents of the luggage so you can quickly pull out what you want. Without that, it’s impossible without ‘divine power’ level magic, seriously!”

I couldn’t help but grin and tease her.

”Hmm, so Rena can do it then?”

 ”No way!?”

Rena’s voice sharply jumped up. She leaned close to my face, squinting her eyes and glaring at me. Her intensity almost made me step back involuntarily.

”Such advanced technology would turn the rules of this world upside down! Rena is not planning to go that far!”

Her momentum made me chuckle. While holding my luggage, I shook my shoulders and laughed. Rena puffed out her cheeks as if to say “Enough!”, but her eyes still looked amused.

Soon, the sign of ‘Zett Merchant Guild’ appeared briefly at the turn ahead. Well then, what kind of bag is waiting?
