Chapter 68 Dorothy’s Ability

”I can complete it by tomorrow.”
After finishing the measurements, Meluda brought Dorothy over.
”That was quick!”
”Actually…”
Saying that, Meluda pulled out a leather chest plate from under the counter.
”Meluda and the others thought we’d take turns helping Hiro and the others with their work, so we were making armor. This way, we can maintain our gear on-site, right?”
She held the chest plate up to Dorothy, who was standing next to her.
”…Doro-Doro, even though she’s an elf, she’s so… curvy, right? So the armor Meluda made for her fits her perfectly. I just need to make a few adjustments, and it’ll be good to go.”
”I see. But I have school for the next 3 days starting tomorrow, so there’s no rush… Wait, are you coming with us? To take turns?”
I couldn’t help but ask back. I thought they were just going to support us as blacksmiths.
”Of course! We won’t hold you back in battle! …But, um, it seems we can’t go right away…”
Well, I’ve seen their skills during the ‘Rock Golem battle’ when we first met. I know they can fight pretty well.
”After school, we’ll aim for the ‘Goblin Forest.’ Guido’s party and Otto’s group are heading out today, so we can’t fall behind…”
Liz bit her nails, looking frustrated.
”You don’t need to rush. The parties that came from the capital in the fall still haven’t reached the center yet.”
Kazumi was trying to calm Liz down.
Yes, out of the 4 parties that had come to Razia Village before, one party led by a guy named Geeza disbanded (see chapters 30-31), and the other 3 parties were downgraded from rank A to B after re-evaluation.
However, they were still showing their skills as experienced adventurers and aiming for the dungeon in the ‘Goblin Forest.’ But none of the parties have reached the dungeon yet.
The strongest parties, Guido and Otto, are starting their attack today.
”Those trolls are really a problem… When they keep showing up, it’s just exhausting.”
”Maybe we should at least cooperate with each other until we reach the dungeon? That’s what I think.”
Rena looked really annoyed. Martina came up with a pretty good idea.
”…Cooperate with Otto’s party? I don’t like that.”
Liz made a really unhappy face.
”…Well, you were almost in Otto’s arms, weren’t you?”
Kazumi said with a laugh.
”Th-that was just because I was drunk…”
Liz looked down, feeling embarrassed.
”Sorry, just kidding.”
Kazumi gently patted Liz’s head, which was bigger than hers.
”At least, I wouldn’t mind cooperating with Guido’s group. Let’s suggest it when they come back.”
I agreed with Martina because I thought it was a good idea.
”When that happens, Meluda will come along.”
Meluda rested her chin on her hand, smiling.
””Phew… time for a break!””
Aluda and Eluda, both sweaty from the forge, appeared.
”Meluda! Give me something cold! …Oh, Hiro and the others are still here!”
Eluda ran over, her ponytail swinging.
”So, come on, at least serve some tea, Meluda. Is everyone okay with honey lemon?”
Saying that, Eluda took a bottle from the magic tool ‘refrigerator’ in the corner of the shop.
”Aluda, this is yours. Liz, do you want some?”
Meluda brought a bottle of beer from another room and handed it to Aluda. We got honey lemon from Eluda.
”Hmm, I’ll stick with honey lemon… I messed up with alcohol yesterday…”
Liz accepted the honey lemon from Eluda while still looking down.
”By the way, Doro-Doro, what weapon do you use?”
Aluda, who gulped down her beer, suddenly remembered to ask.
”Dorothy uses a bow and martial arts.”
”And… she also uses something called an estoc.”
Kazumi, who was talking to Dorothy through ‘Telepathy’, added to Liz’s answer.
”…More versatile than I thought. It’s rare for an elf to practice martial arts. Alright, I’ll try to make a weapon that suits you.”
”I see… I should check out Dorothy’s skills too. Should we go to the guild and use the training area after this?”
”The training area next to the stationed troops is fine. I’ll have Aluda arrange it.”
Saying this to Liz, Aluda left the shop.

Now, Dorothy and I stood in the middle of the training area. Why am I here?
The place was packed with spectators. Soldiers from the stationed troops came to watch because they heard about a C-rank boy and a beautiful elf sparring.
”Hiroya, Dorothy said, ‘Please come at me without holding back’.”
Kazumi handed me a Bokken sword borrowed from the training area. Dorothy’s weapon was a long wooden sword, almost as tall as she was.
”Alright… let’s get started.”
At Liz’s voice, Dorothy and I nodded.
I placed my hand on the Bokken sword at my left hip.
”Okay, begin!”
With the signal, Dorothy charged at me, holding her wooden sword at her waist.
I braced myself to dodge her first strike.
As Dorothy closed the distance, she suddenly thrust her wooden sword into the ground.
”!”
Using the long wooden sword, Dorothy leaped into the air. I was completely caught off guard. Since I wasn’t using ‘Physical Boost’, I could barely follow her with my eyes.
From the air, Dorothy’s precise kick came rushing toward my head. I managed to block the kick with my arm guards.
As Dorothy landed, she spun around, swinging her wooden sword. I couldn’t react to the strike coming from my blind spot.
”Physical Boost!”
I quickly drew my Bokken sword and managed to deflect one of her strikes.
Realizing I was at a disadvantage, I sheathed my Bokken sword and created some distance.
But Dorothy charged at me again with her wooden sword held at her waist.
This time, I stepped into her range.
Still holding her sword at her waist, Dorothy lunged at me.
I blocked her thrust with my Bokken sword halfway through. This is bad.
I managed to flow into a move and took her down, pinning her face down.
”That’s enough!”
At Liz’s voice, I helped Dorothy up as she relaxed and stood.
”Wow, Dorothy. You use your weapon for such dynamic movements.”
Dorothy nodded shyly.
”Whoa! You both are amazing!”
Cheers erupted from the soldiers in the gallery.
Feeling embarrassed, I quickly took Dorothy’s hand and left the center of the training area, moving to where Kazumi and the others were waiting.
”Really, it’s rare to see an elf skilled in close combat. And your movements were incredible.”
Aluda expressed her amazement.
”I heard Dorothy’s family has been good at martial arts for generations.”
Rena spoke on Dorothy’s behalf, her cheeks slightly flushed. ──Did Dorothy say something through ‘Telepathy’?
”She said, ‘I’m sure you are the only one who should be my master. I’m convinced of that.’ …I guess it can’t be helped, Hiroya.”
Kazumi whispered to me.
”What can’t be helped…?”
For now, let’s go have lunch.

”So, are you going home tonight?”
On the way back to the inn, Liz asked.
”Hmm, what should I do?”
”I’m going to school from the inn. Hiroya, you should do the same.”
”Rena is going home tonight. I want to spend some time with Papa and Mama.”
That’s right. Rena was looking forward to spending time with her family in this world.
”Then, I guess I’ll go from the inn too. I’ll just stop by home to grab my school stuff.”
Well, the 3 of us don’t really need to attend classes anyway, academically speaking.
”I’ll stop by home before heading back to the inn. So, Kazumi, shall we go?”
After parting ways with Liz, I took Kazumi’s hand and started walking home.
After walking for a while, I felt a hand gripping my left hand.
”Rena?”
Turning to my left, I saw… Dorothy!?
”Huh? Dorothy, are you coming with us?”
Dorothy nodded.
”She said, ‘I’ll be by your side wherever you go.’ This is a bit troublesome…”
Kazumi looked up a little and rested her chin on her hand. It was a gesture of ‘Telepathy’.
Dorothy’s cheeks turn red instantly.
”Yes… well, there are times when I have to be considerate of others. Hiroya, you have so many girlfriends. …Yes, I’m like the first wife…”
What are you talking about, Ms. Kazumi?
”‘I’m fine with being at the very end of the line. So I’ll wait for Mr. Hiroya’s mercy.’ ──Considering Dorothy’s circumstances… You have to make love to her soon. It would be terrible if she was kidnapped by a man like Otto.”
Kazumi whispers in my ear.
”…Liz is also in a dangerous situation. She seems to be very desperate.”
I whisper back.
”…I also want to free Martina from that situation as soon as possible. …And ──.”
Kazumi brings her lips close to my ear again.
”I also want… to be held by you again soon…”
”It’s school tomorrow, and I think I want to sleep alone tonight.”
Kazumi’s cheeks puff up a little, but she seems to understand, and she speaks.
”Either way, we need to rent a bigger room at the inn now that Dorothy has joined us.”
”I’ll go back to the inn and bring my study materials. I’ll talk to the innkeeper then. See you later.”
Kazumi and I part ways in front of the gate of her house.
”Kazumi! Welcome back!”
Kazumi’s mother waves at her from the entrance.
”Why don’t you take your time and relax a bit? Come by our house when you’re on your way back.”
She gives Kazumi a light kiss on the cheek. It’s okay because Kazumi’s mother approves of it.
”Okay! See you later!”
Kazumi waves and runs to her mother.
”Let’s go, Dorothy. You wanted to greet my father, right?”
Dorothy nods. She said she wanted to greet my father, who is the lord of Razia Village.
Dorothy and I walk home, holding hands.
