In the middle of developing products for the Wielope Empire¹, Nina-Mailse and I decided to try a strategy of combining the “Tremble-D**do-Buddy” and the “Luminescent Buddy.” To get the help of the court mage Satsuki, we had invited her to the “Second Lab.”

”I couldn’t ask for more, but don’t get your hopes up; it’s not that easy, you know? This ‘Wriggly-type D**do-Buddy’ was a product of chance, after all.”

Satsuki looked at me with scornful eyes. I understand the feeling, but it really was a fluke… Well, if she’s going to have expectations (?) I’ll do my best. While I was thinking that, Nina, who had been silent, was for some reason turning red in the face.
”What’s with you? It’s too early in the day to be getting excited, you know?”
”N-No, that’s not it! It’s just, how do I put it…”

Especially when Satsuki suggested making the vibration switch a rotary type, I was glad I invited her. By the time we realized it was dark, we had a prototype where the elements didn’t break down.

”Yeah, isn’t it good? I can’t say for sure until we actually try using it, though…”
”We did it, Satsuki-san, Master!”
We praised each other. Research colleagues are a good thing.
”We have to think of a name. We can’t call it that in Wielope, so something like a code word… ‘Night Companion’ or ‘Bedside Lover’…”
”No, that’s not hidden at all. Wouldn’t something normal like ‘Night Light’ be fine…?”
”Oh! Then how about ‘Night Wand’? It’s profound, right?”

A Ward from a big Purist family in the Wielope Empire, but she ditched the whole fundamentalist thing. Sticks close to the Saint and might end up as Kento’s apprentice in the Church of Demon‑Subjugation. Smart, loyal, and quietly rebellious.
• Satsuki – Miranda’s granddaughter—a talented court mage with long black hair, staff, and palace robes. Prickly tsundere companion of Kento who fought in the dragon subjugation. Now humiliated yet fulfilled as Harvest’s new worker, her research thrives under his guidance while she whispers romantic tips to Amelia.
• Momo – The newborn daughter of Kento and Lily. She has pink hair and her father’s ear and eyebrow shapes.
